@Ten-a-penny: There are Kairite Jews and Samaritans who dispute rabbinical Jews, but thankfully it never comes to violence because the communities are so small. The disagreement doesn't seem to cut as deeply as well, for a number of reasons.

 

I've heard there are also differences in prayer/liturgy between Sunnis and Shiites. Is this a factor behind mutual distrust, or is it all about the succession crisis?

 

 

As you and I know from the story of Yosef/Yusuf and his siblings, familial rivalries and matters of inheritance can go deep. Rachel and Leah were sisters but constantly tried to "outdo" the other in terms of progeny.

 

 

Inheritance is always difficult because having good king doesn't necessitate his successors being good. This actually supports what you're saying: Namely that the best leader is one who's chosen according to the will of the people, rather than someone born into the position. It's certainly possible to support the other position though. Why have a dynasty if succession isn't determined by family?

I get the impression that Sunnis think Shiites aren't real monotheists due to the ostentatious mosques, the permission of shrines and the use of portraits of honoured dead. Iconography was a major source of division amongst European Christians for centuries. I mean what really constitutes a "graven image?". If you have a picture of a rabbi or sheikh on your wall, does that constitute idolatry? I don't think it does unless you actually bow down to the thing.

 

 

I understand your frustrations as it's always annoying to disagree with people, especially on something important to you. However, I doubt the few people you've talked to represent all Shiites. Indeed, a Shia Muslim might use Bin Laden or Baghdadi to represent a "typical" Sunni Muslim.

Some Shea go as far as thinking that Ali is actually THE true Last Prophet instead of Mohammad. All this started over, just because Mohammad said that his cousin (Ali) is almost a second mirror of him, the same way Qaroon is Moses' second mirror. He said something like "the thing between me and Ali is the same thing between Moses and his brother Qaroon, ecxept there is no Prophet after me".

Stupid Shea took that Hadith way too seriously, and said things like "Ali is the TRUE Prophet, not that wacky Mohammad! Rapist! [and you call yourself a Muslim? wat?!]" and "Gabriel got confused between Mohammad and Ali, instead of heading towards Ali and give him the Prophecy he gave it to Mohammad by accident! [Yeah, git gut @ lying.]".

 

 

What I don't get is, okay, you prefer Ali over everybody. So what? Is attacking all the others who have no direct connection with Ali is necessary ? Why? That's like preferring, say, Voodoo and Sivispacem over every Mod here, and insulting the Admins because "you stole the Administration power from these two! Source? My ass". I know, I'm sh*t at giving examples, but my point still stands.

I'm locked out of my house for the night because I left my keys with my brothers to take care of the house for me and they're deep asleep. I had to climb our garden walls, which are around 4 meters, just to sit and sleep somewhere safely.

 

My mom is away on a vacation to Kuwait with my sisters and my dad is such a heavy sleeper that he doesn't even feel his phone vibrating on his face, so it's no use to call any of them.

 

All I have is takeaway pasta and a bottle of coke with the sounds of crickets chirping in the distance, it'll be a long night.

i'm unemployed atm so i'd most likely suck it up like you are.. so i can save the money for weed and munchies XD but if i was working.. i'd have a harder time justifying it... but again it depends on my finances at the time...

Ugh, some kid at my school has gotten me so worked up. The subject of politics is brought up, and I talk about my general disdain for Trump. He just responds with "I don't want to have a political conversation with you, because you think you're always right." Umm, okay? I ask him what evidence he has to support this claim and he loses his sh*t, going on how I said (a few weeks ago, at least) he was "wrong" in his political views as the conversation ended. He's genuinely furious at me because of this comment I made weeks ago, and he decides to shut me out and continue the conversation without me before I can even get a word in after his little tirade.

 

Okay, isn't that bullsh*t? First of all, he didn't even consider I may have been joking. Why would I, a high school student with no real world experience, think that I'm the end-all when it comes to politics? For someone to assume I actually think their opinion on politics is wrong because of some silly offhand comment is baffling. Secondly, that's a pretty piss poor way to react, is it not? I recall there being a great thing called "talking it out" instead of jumping at someone's throat and berating them because of an assumption you made. Truly there must be someone else who thinks this is bullsh*t as well?

My father is getting on my nerve. Again.

Today we had a Chemistry-Biology exam (just to improve our old scores) and I had the chance to ask the "Science" teacher what's this "thing" on my fingers. At first I though it was Eczema but he said it's something else. He asked me to visit a hospital where they'll "take a sample to test it" and figure out what bacteria us causing it so that I'll get the right medicine to fight it off.

 

Then my father comes to school to take me back. I tell him about what the teacher told me. Dad be like "fuk Dat guy he knows sheit" and continue about how "I don't take the medicine the way I should be" (uh, maybe the reason why I don't use this P.O.S because it's NOT WORKING????!?!!) And I tell him AGAIN that this dude knows what he's saying. My dad's reaction? "Hes nut a ducktur u fak hes obviously speaking out of his ass"

 

So let me get this straight, you - who doesn't even know what a Methanol is - called out the BIOLOGY teacher that he knows sh*t? Completely ignoring the FACT that you MUST know this kind of sh*t even regardless if you want to become a doc or a teacher?! Since when you MUST be a doctor to know what Bacteria is and what diseases it causes?!?

I had the same infection on my fingers like 3 years ago and told my father as well, I got more or less the same reaction, I just went up and headed for a nearby decent budget hospital and got treatment for it out of my own money, he would've been pissed if I got treatment from the hospitals that my dad's company owns in their huge compound/residential area.

 

By the way, the said residential area is actually designed like a regular American suburbia, all these houses and parks just scream late 90's suburbia in the way they were structured.

Yeah he is boss and all but that is a prick thing to do. Who wakes somebody up to go tell them to do something? I don't wake anybody up to tell them to do anything, I just get up off my ass and do it myself like any normal sensible person would. Sometimes, it feels like people try too hard with that sh*t.

That last part is for sure magnified down here. Not only because people are extra nosy but because religious beliefs are very strong and many are against piercings or tattoos. My sister has to deal with that.

Some lousy kitten though it was a fun idea getting stuck in the f*cking house and refusing to get out.

 

According to my dad this kitten git stuck in a car wheel outside, he and a bunch of people started WWIII to pop it out and brought it here. The dam thing is sick too. The problem? That furball shoved itself in the "tree" above the garage (you know that type of trees that grow and climb on anything straight? Like Grape trees? Ya we have one like that although it's full of f*cking fork-like sh*t).

 

We spent like an hour to pull it out and what does it too? Re-climb again. Idiot. I already abandoned it --- I'm happy with my cats, thank you. Fast forward to around the sunset, da popped that f*cker out AGAIN and placed it aaaall the way close to the second garage. There's what looks like a bush-like plant and a gigantic (straight) tree nearby. After MY cats finished eating they came in to see the "intruder". That f*ckface git scared and started climbing the tree again! No sir. I smacked him with my phone a bit to scare him so that he won't climb way too high and used the nearby branches to further push him down by vibrating it. When the fuccboi FINALLY landed down he backed away at the corner and stopped there.
