Honest to goodness grumpy. I locked myself to my computer this weekend to write a short and sweet game(see GTAF the Game thread). It was all but finished and I was at the stage of adding in bells and whistles. Because it was a lab I was using my cloud drive...welp...I ended up overwriting all my work with the stub code I started with. Hours of work down the drain.

*all is not lost...I'm going to retype every line of code...ARGH!!!!

A homework assignment that supposed to take me like 30 minutes to complete has been taking going on 3 hours now. All because because my laptop is so goddamn slow.

 

i have no clue how to make it faster either. I've tried restoring, tried ccleaner.

Budget laptops are honestly always vomit tier when it comes to performance, I've been there a dozen times.

It might be Windows rot so try to backup and format.

Ah, the thing is , the laptop originally came with Windows 7, and Windows 7 was a sh*t storm, so I upgraded to Windows 10 to fix it was was great, but eventually I've ended up here.

 

It won't let me format since I don't have the original Windows 7 drive or something? iirc.

I have no idea what should I play.

 

GTAV constantly freeze, I lost all interest in GTAO and every PS2 game excluding Savage Skies, and that game is broken (R.I.P Savage Skies disk ), not sure if I should play Assassin's Creed 4, playing DooM games is kind of a chore (beaten DooM II to death, first maps of FD: Plotunia is so dull and FD: TnT is lame, don't even get me started about The Ultimate DooM), Skyrim on the PS3 is sh*t compared to the PC version (stock vs Legendary Edition + Console Commands + optional mods), and I'm stuck at the PC version because I have no idea what else to do with my current character, as in, mind went blank, and still hadn't figured out how should I "throw" myself in prison as a reason to join the DB (character backstories, yo).

i wouldnt advise doing a google search for MSDN windows 7 iso, putting it on a USB stick with the windows usb dvd tool and then activating it with your key or using some sort of tool like Daz's loader.

My headphones started to act out. Again. Only one ear is playing, and I have to keep messing around until I get the right angle so that both sides are working.

*$20. I swear, if my Bluetooth headphones allowed you to continually play/repeat a certain track I would've abandoned my phone's MP3Player. The only reason I use my phone's music is simply because I can choose whether I want to repeat/shuffle/etc. And that thing costs about 25 or 30.

 

Remember my veeeeeery old rant about my father refusing to let me buy a Bluetooth headset and instead bought a broken earbud that doesn't even work on my phone? Yeah, its that Bluetooth headset I'm talking about. That thing lasted for three to five months before it started to act out. As in: The outer part (that is made of fabric IIRC) started to cut out, my mother tried to fix it and shoved it inside, but apparently cut one of the necessary cables, rendering the thing useless on one ear. Bought a new one that still function to this day.

In my experience, any headphones that cost less than £50 ($70) are unreliable and are prone to breaking. My pair of Bose AE2i headphones cost £110 and my Sennheiser HD 239 were £100, came to the conclusion I needed to actually save for a decent pair after going through so many cheap pairs. It's false economy - you think you're saving money by buying cheaper pairs but it's so worth sitting and saving for something robust and on the pricier end of the scale. I understand not everybody is in the position to throw 100 notes at a pair of headphones but it's so worth it if you get the opportunity.

I've got some excellent brass Sony in-ears (£65) for the gym and travelling, my default pair are AKG K550s (£120 or so). I've got a few other pairs (Sennheisers and Shures) but don't wear them often.

 

There are some cheap but good options though. Soundmagic E10s or AKG K323xsi would be my cheap buys.
