In all fairness, the picture is a little offensive. Resting your appendages on another persons head is clearly a universal sign of superiority. In historical family portraits, it was common for male children to rest their hands on the female siblings head for the same reason. Can't really be surprised about the PC sh*t storm here.

I'm not surprised either, but this is one of the most ridiculous, despite not surprising, overreaction in recent memory. They are kids being affectionate. Period. With a capitol "P" and a following sentence to emphasize the capitalness of the first letter of the word referencing the punctuation.

Is she serious? I'm done.

Is she lying though?

I think she's an idiot. Making a big deal out of nothing. That's what people love to do these days and it's annoying as sh*t.

Agreed, PC is getting crazy nowadays. Most of the people complaining about the ad probably weren't even black. I've had a white girl scold me for using the word nigga when I introduced her to my closest friends. Even my family members respond to nigga when we are in all-black informal settings. Yet she was offended on my behalf.

Wanted to tell her, "Don't cash my check nigga!"....http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/05/28/101-being-offended/

won't anyone think of my lily white feelings

Give it up, son. You and your breed are finally being exposed for what you represent. Your days of screaming and disrupting - actually, silencing - discourse to cater this mental greed of feeding the same old moral superiority complex are numbered.

Whilst the PC platoon may have had good intentions from the beginning, apparently knowing your bounds requires too much thought for them. I guess all the internet point scoring in the form of 'Likes' on social media platforms such as FaceBollocks and [email protected],000ft must have skewed their judgement in detecting when enough is enough. I'm going to give them some credit though...I sincerely believe they're not stupid enough not to realise they're causing more division and tension than unity, which brings me back to my assessment of their fundamental motive - "I'M A F*CKING FAILURE AT LIFE AND A F*CKING SOCIAL FAILURE, THEREFORE I TAKE RESPITE AND REFUGE IN HAVING OTHER SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKES SHOWER ME WITH LOVE BY LIKING TEXT I POST ON THE INTERNET. BEST WAY TO ACHIEVE THIS IS BY ADDRESSING "CONTROVERSIAL" ISSUES AND PRETENDING I GIVE A F*CK ABOUT PEOPLE'S PLIGHT WHILST I SIT IN MY PRIVILEGED POSITION BEHIND A COMPUTER SCREEN DOING BOLLOCKS ABOUT IT OTHER THAN SEEKING OUT THE NEXT WILDLIFE DOCUMENTARY THAT SHOWS A POLAR BEAR HUNTING THE BATMOBILE BEING A CLEAR INDICATION OF WHITE ON BLACK OPPRESSION AND BEING OFFENDED BY SUCH AND BEING THE FIRST TO RAISE THIS ALMIGHTY THREAT TO THE EXISTENCE OF THE UNIVERSE BY CRYING ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET...FEED ME!!!!!!!!"...

Triggered?

The sooner these dipsh*ts are called out for what they are and ridiculed to pave the way for genuine equality activists, the better. Unfortunately, the noisy, pathetic actions of the former are tarnishing the reputation of the latter.

I think she's an idiot. Making a big deal out of nothing. That's what people love to do these days and it's annoying as sh*t.Is she lying though?

If that's your only conclusion without trying to see from her point of view, then you might want to rethink who is the ignorant one.

Doesn't mean someone white can't use it for the same reasons its been used in history - an expression of deep religious or spiritual convictions, ethnic pride or as a political statement.

The symbol of dreadlocks is defiantly not locked to race mate.

Egyptians are the first to be recorded using the dreadlocks. Much more history to them then just minority groups.

You're saying something we already know mate.

btw. I know we use "your" products, but that claim is a sham if you know the actual meaning of cultural appropriation.

Cultural appropriation occurs when members of a dominant group take elements and symbols of another culture for their own economic or social gain while simultaneously devaluing and silencing the bodies, opinions and voices of the oppressed culture.

I'm not trying to blame you for your great great great great great great great grandfathers wrongdoing but why is it now that we should share our culture because it's trendy and sh*t when it was seen as revolting not 15 years ago. If you truly like dreadlocks or ebonics because you want to spread awareness or like that particular culture then that's on you, but avoid using it to sell a product(s).

p.s. this should be in D&D

In the case that this stemmed from, no one was trying to sell anything... it was just a hippy white dude being mocked by someone who, by the smiles and mannerism displayed, wasn't truly offended... she just didn't like him and decided to use her race as a justification to lash out at a stranger.

The issue is the double standard.

White people are allowed to be openly hated as a race, abused (I've f*cking been harassed by a gang of guys for being a stuck up white bitch, again I'm half caste but obviously they couldn't tell) and called out on everything.

That's all I see is 'white people can't do that'.. Okay well then I hope you're also having a go at the japanese subculture of girls/guys who literally LIVE as black people. It's a thing, look it up.

Also the non-asian girls who do their make-up and use kanji to seem oriental in one way or another. The non-indian girls who wear bindis (I've seen every race do this but only certain people get called out).

Most of the cultural appropriation complaints are hypocritical.

I realised how bad it's got when I was looking on instagram, a white girl had dreads - her comments were full of hate calling her a racist, white trash etc.

I looked at another girl who was indian and she had dreadlocks and people were calling her beautiful and saying 'this is fine because clearly you appreciate our culture'.

Face it people only get angry if a white person does this, it's contradictory.

Take ballet for example, it was considered incredibly racist because of the lack of mainly black women and that was a huge issue for a while, but y'know white people shouldn't rap or get dreadlocks cos that's not their thing, they're just ripping off anothers culture.

It's not just white vs black, but that's the only time people care about racial issues.

Culture has been shared since the beginning of time. The way some of you talk sounds like you genuinely want segregation.

Why can no-one accept everything has changed, everything is shared now.

So why is it okay for black people to have mohawks? Mohawks aren't from their culture, and I'm not sure on the exact numbers, but I'd take a guess and say that there's more black people then there are Pawnee( Midwestern Native American tribe from which the hairstyle originated from) people. Therefore making black people the dominate group. So is it only culture appropriation when white people do it?

Aren't Mohawks derived from the Mohawk tribes? Or was this just another American naming SNAFU?

Aren't Mohawks derived from the Mohawk tribes? Or was this just another American naming SNAFU?

As always, it's Henry Fonda's fault...

While the mohawk hairstyle takes its name from the people of the Mohawk nation, an indigenous people of North America who originally inhabited the Mohawk Valley in upstateNew York, the association comes from Hollywood and more specifically from the popular 1939 movie Drums Along the Mohawk starring Henry Fonda.
The Mohawk and the rest of the Iroquois confederacy (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Tuscarora and Oneida) in fact wore a square of hair on the back of the crown of the head. The Mohawk did not shave their heads when creating this square of hair, but rather pulled the hair out, small tufts at a time. The following is a first-hand account of James Smith, who was captured during the French and Indian war and adopted into the Mohawk tribe:
[A] number of Indians collected about me and one of them began to pull hair out of my head. He had some ashes on a piece of bark in which he frequently dipped his fingers in order to take a firmer hold, and so he went on as if he had been plucking a turkey, until he had all the hair clean out of my head, except a small spot about three or four inches square on my crown the remaining hair was cut and three braids formed which were decorated
Therefore, a true hairstyle of the Mohawks was one of plucked-out hair, leaving a three-inch square of hair on the back crown of the head with three short braids of hair decorated. The three braids of a True Mohawk hairstyle are represented today on traditional headdresses of the Mohawk known as a "Gustoweh". Mohawk Gustowehs have three upright eagle feathers that represent the three braids of long ago.[3] When not decorated, the very short braids were allowed to hang loose as seen in Good Peter's image in the referenced article.

Yes, that is cultural appropriation since black folks are more dominant to the Native American tribe you're speaking of.

It originated with Finn talking about Justin Bieber, who clearly did it cuz it's edgy nd sh*t when they just look like long yellow turds in my opinion.

White people are allowed to be openly hated as a race, abused (I've f*cking been harassed by a gang of guys for being a stuck up white bitch, again I'm half caste but obviously they couldn't tell) and called out on everything.

Being called out on Twitter isn't oppressive, those guys were just the common assholes looking for an excuse to be assholes.

Locs are also rooted in Hindu/Indian culture

I've said that is cultural appropriation, and if Native Americans aren't making a fuss is their fault. If you're a black teenager being sidelined by the coach in favor of the other guys and the coach if openly racist, you have a claim but don't make it it's your fault.

I've grown up in a city with no majority race, we're mostly half breeds and racist attacks have been doled out on everyone FROM everyone.

White people have locs in their history too, why is that never brought up? Yes ballet is a sport but it didn't originate in africa so by your logic, if you don't come from a country ballet has historical roots in, you shouldn't partake in it.

And I second what Static said, you shouldn't be enjoying the culture of another if you yourself are not asian (again this is if we play by your rules).

A haircut is a f*cking haircut.

Cultural misappropriation is only a bad thing if there is malicious intent behind it, if not then accept welcome it, applaud it... why?.... because it means you're not an ignorant f*ck and are embracing different cultures. I'd much rather live a world where people can love all the good things about their fellow man, than be bogged down in petty bullsh*t about a f*cking haircut.

Yes, I'm grumpy... why?... cause I don't have enough hair to have a f*cking full head of dreads.

Now can we get back to being grumpy about sh*t like f*cking rolls of tape that tear off at angles even though you can't see a nick in the tape which is causing it.
