First, most people outraged by the Cecil the Lion killing probably also hate the war effort(s) just as bad, if not more and second: compassion, outrage, anger... emotions aren't zero sum. We, as humans, can care about more than one issue.

I'm p*ssed off. Want to know why? Well I'll state it below but it may turn into a lengthy post.

 

So yesterday or a few days ago, A technology news editor for the State broadcasting company resigned because he was gagged, bullied and had a burn file created against him (a number of reasons why he should be fired) This is all because of the NBN and how it's a politics game, He hated this current's government one *FTTN* (Fibre-To-The-Node) and wanted to speak up about how it was bad and a huge waste of money for the country. Well apparently he was gagged and told to keep he's mouth shut about anything to do with the NBN.

 

Well he resigned a few days ago and it's started another controversy against the State broadcaster about the way he was treated and told he couldn't speak out about what this government is doing to the NBN and now they(The ABC) f*cking denies that he was gagged and told to zip he's lips on the NBN matter. I came across a post on reddit but won't state where. Someone was calling him out because the journos use it as a way of crying. Well he (the editor) wasn't crying. He was letting people know about the way he was treated and gagged on the NBN matter, he's a technology person and needs to speak up on technology matters.

 

The post this user made against the editor was like this -

 

"Oh i know i'm about to get downvoted but I hate Ex-Journos who use reddit / social media as a means of a meltdown and to gain popularity". I usually don't get involved in these kinds of matters and stay away from political or journo issues as much as possible but this guy just P*ssed me off that I decided to make a throwaway account and comment against the guy who made the comment about the jurno.

 

I pretty much said to him "What was the guy suppose to do? He had a dam burn file created against him and was gagged for crack sake. Not to mention that he was lied too.

How would you like it if you were gagged at work and permitted from speaking about the nonsense they do to you there? I would certainly hate it and would speak up about it by all means, no one getting bullied at work deserves to have their issues ignored or be given the silent treatment. It was he's choice to speak up to let people become aware of the sh*t that was pulled on him while working there. If he wanted to speak up about it then by all means he can and should. He had every right to have a meltdown for the way he was treated, I can only imagine you would be doing the same on here if you were in he's boots. It was a stressful situation for him and your saying they use this a mean of having a huge cry?".

That's what I said to the guy, not long after I sent that response to him was my post removed and he's was kept on display. I can't believe people are agreeing with the guy I sent the message too. The editor wasn't using online social sites as a means of being butthurt or meltdown but simply speaking up about the way he's former employer treated him and forbid him from talking on a important technology matter everyone should be aware of.

So in this guys mouth, it's not ok for someone not in the Journo business to speak up about what happened at he's former career, but it is ok for anyone else outside of the bubble to speak up about their issues with their formal employers.

Hopefully some of you are able to get what I'm trying to say, worded out as best as I could and it seamed to have p*ssed me off.
