HTML5 would be my guess, there's a reason Google is making it the default for their sites rather than flash. It just seems like Google is out to kill Flash because of the failure that was pepper flash.

 

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's just chrome being weird but it's definitely something to watch out for just in case.

Actually, it's got more to do with Flash being an inherently insecure and woefully vulnerable, utter bag of sh*te, capable of basically mitigating the entire Chrome sandbox environment. I think Google were looking at implementing their own closed source or forked SWF vector graphic parser like they did with Java implementations in Chrome, but the move to HTML5 for dynamic content is a wider thing driven by security concerns about Flash.

I haven't posted in a while cause i haven't been in a sh*t mood until now.

 

You know when you pay people to do a job and you expect idk your property to come back either A: Better or B: in the same condition. Yeah well what really pisses me off is when i f*cking pay 1200 bucks to get my Regulator and window motor fixed and the Auto Electrician 1. Has not put my woodgrain piece back together properly. 2. The SRS light goes on and off. 3. Deadlocked my f*cking boot somehow, though i fixed that, and 4. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL f*ckING PROBLEMS ARE BACK with my window which makes a really horid clunk sound as it comes up to close like a thunk. WTF if i pay you $1200 bucks to do a job, the least you can do is f*cking fix it and put my stuff back together properly like jeeze, do i have to work on the car myself on every single bit. Is it really so hard to do a job well. (seems f*cking like it).

Flash should die, preferably by the hand of webm, but html5 video could do it too and it'd be almost as grand. Flash is what f*cks your browser's memory usage 99 times out of 10, and also since it's a seperate piece of software from the browser lots of people don't bother updating it, and you get grandmas (and a ton of average-aged people who just don't bother with it for whatever reason) running a hundred new security vulnerabilities every week what's adobe? (let 'em rot.)

 

I don't know how well the pepper flash plugin runs, but if it's updated along with chrome then it's at least a step in the right direction. Probably won't be picked up by other browsers though, maybe they'll at least pick up the habit of maintaining their own built-in video plugins, hopefully.

Yes but looking at your resource usage and seeing 400MB RAM (<100 if you use an efficient OS) usage while watching a video in-browser is kinda like owning a well running farm, you won't know satisfaction 'til then.

I try to avoid flash as much as possible. It's still installed, but I'll only turn it on with trusted websites. Like Sivis says, too buggy for my tastes.

 

One question tho, when they do an update on flash it says something to the effect of: attackers can gain remote access to a users system. What does that mean?

Flash is vector graphic based video rendering.

The format is encoded so needs to be parsed before being playable natively.

Google were looking to split off (I.E fork) their own engine for decoding and executing SWF code. Just one that operated inside Chrome's sandbox environment rather than outside it.

I don't think they even know how pathetic the section looks from the outside. Not to mention almost everyone there are unwilling to accept opinions from outsiders. Their circle jerks with MVC are also really lame. Never thought I'd see the day the IV section would be as bad as the V section.
