You know what males me grumpy? People who spend all their money on weed, alcohol, cigs, meth or other unnecessary poisonous substance and then complain that they are always broke and that the government needs to be giving them more welfare. I have no problem with people using welfare as a short term solution to get back on their feet or to sustain themselves while they look for employment. But the people that continually sabotage their chances of success by using substances and the people who just outright abuse the system rustle my jimmies. What ever happened to personal responsibility?

 

I know situations like that are statistically low but I have still seen enough people like that for it to get under my skin

I understand they are drug addicts. I just don't think it's fair that we should have to subsidize their lifestyle when they contribute almost nothing to society. Like seriously the bourgeoisie may leach off the labor of others but most of them still end up contributing to society in some shape or another. Through philanthropy or continued investment and job and product creation. A meth addict does almost nothing

So, I'm walking around the city with my brother and a friend of ours. I guess we were visibly having fun, because an unmarked police car with 3 officers inside pulled up. At this point, we had just walked up towards the front entrance of a Stop N Shop. Without any explanation, they ask me "where are you from?" So I tell them "I live over on -redacted- street, why?" They get irritated and step out of the car. "What's your name?" I tell them. They tell me a bullsh*t story about how I fit the description of a burglary suspect, and that they saw me take a cut-through behind the building that is supposedly popular with criminals (lol like, wat?). Problem is, I didn't. I just walked up to the building from the front. Apparently, this explanation is not good enough for them, and they proceed to look for holes in my obviously made up story, cause I mean, who just goes for walks anymore? Obviously, if you're a young person in a hoodie out enjoying a nice Autumn day, you must be up to no good. Since they realize they have nothing to go on, one of the cops gets in my brothers face, shouting, and otherwise just being a provocative asshole. My brother, who has some very serious anxiety issues, gets heated, and ends up handcuffed in the back of a cruiser. What I found amusing though was that during this encounter, I took off my jacket and placed it on the ground. The cop who got into my brother's face looked down at my jacket, and asked who it belonged to. They saw me taking the cut-through, but they don't know what f*cking jacket I had on? Grade A police work there, Serpico.

 

For some reason, they just took my brother back to the station and released him. I don't know why they didn't just do it on the spot. Oh well, they got their little arrest. They can go home and tell themselves they're heroes.

 

 

TL;DR:

-stopped by cops

-told I fit description of a suspect

-cops make up story

-cops get caught in made-up story

-cops resort to intimidation

-cops detain my brother

-I walk home

-my resentment for pigs continues to grow

Doesn't surprise me. Dumbass American cops.

 

What makes me lol is that the sherrifs down here like to speed around for no reason and tail gate you.

I never knew San Antonio is in the UK. Again, not every single cop is a bad cop. Whoever thinks that probably had some bad experiences with either a legit bad cop or pissed in a cop's cereal and didn't expect the cop to bite back.

It's not even that, it's the assumption that every cop wherever is a bad cop because of just one they met. There's good cops out there too. Do you think everybody who works for a fast food joint is bad just because one guy messed up your order?

It's not about generalizing cops as individuals. As I said, I'm sure there's well-intentioned cops out there. It's what the police represent, and the interests they serve that are the issue.

You are trying too hard to be edgy, if you expect all cops to be incorruptible lawmen you are being ridiculous, cops are just human beings, some are lazy , others are corrupt and there are some that are decent.

Having a bad experience with a cop is part of a interesting life, i got some troubles with the fuzz, a lot were my fault and others were drunk power f*cks, but is dumb to invent excuses to hate the people who protect us just to being edgy.

And if it's multiple franchises? I lived in 6 outta 7 cities in my area and while some of the cops in those cities are worst than others, I can attest to them all(as a single entity in their respective city) being corrupt or abuse their power, in one way or another. As said before, they serve the city/county, not the residents. Otherwise ticket quotas wouldn't even exist. There's a reason why cops( around here at least ) bump up "patrols" at the end of the month, and it's not public safety. Like I said, it comes down to personal experience.

Cops come in four flavours.

Cops who care not about the job, because it is just a job to pay for food, shelter, and sports.

Cops who want to make a name and get into Politics.

Cops who were bullied (or are bullies) and just want to make other people pay for it.

Cops who got depressed by watching the other cops and who get out of the business by suicide.

You know, I'm used to being dismissed as 'edgy', but if I didn't know any better, I would think people only resort to that because they're actually unwilling to engage in an honest discussion on the subject. Critical social theory? Class analysis? That's just edgy.

Eh, it's not really edgy to have had bad experiences and then those bad experiences colour your perceptions of the group the members who provided those bad experiences belong to. That's just...... human.

Hampton Roads, VA aka 757. I lived in Florida too, albeit not in Daytona, but outside Orlando and you're right, never had problems with cops while there.
