I really want to quit my job at Dairy Queen. There is too much drama :'( It's mainly girls who work there and there are a few girls who are very dramatic, hypocritical, psychotic, and talk behind your back like no tomorrow. The supervisor I work with is the main culprit. People told on her for things she does that she shouldn't and she got in trouble. Ever since she's been antagonizing people and picking fights and has been on a real power trip. She's downright rude to my one friend Sarah telling her randomly to go get a new job or go lose weight even though she's a tiny little thing. It's because Sarah stood up against her, really. Even just the other day my supervisor flipped out at me for giving her the drive-thru headset 10 mins earlier then she apparently told me to. So I said, "What's a 10 min difference? You've been sitting here for the past 2 hours reading while I've been helping customers at front and on drive thru." And she flipped ape-sh*t. To make her happy I had to apologize to her and tell her I just heard the time wrong. -_- I work with her and another girl tues and thurs this week and I reaaally don't want to. They smoke weed outside, and leave whoever else is working with them to mind the whole store for like 10-15 mins at a time!! Plus they take smoke breaks too. Ugghhh..

That sounds so terrible. I'm starting to hate part time jobs that are food oriented. I'm okay with where I'm at now for the moment (subway) but I'd like to find something better eventually. Something about these places seem so high stress and everyone working with you are 8 times out of 10 miserable and won't really communicate with one another, not even if it means making the day go by a little more smoother and having some fun while doing the job. People get so rude.:ph34r:

sometimes. you look very strange. somewhat smiling. a little vain. saying not today.

Ooooo subway!! I love subway. XD Over here though, all the people who work at Subway are rude old ladies... I'm not sure why haha. For my workplace, it get's so dead because it's winter and not as much people want ice cream in the winter(I could eat it everyday though lol) and because of that some of my coworkers simply get bored and start rumors, even the ones who've been working there for 4+ years. I've been working there for 2 so I think it's time to move on and learn something new & hopefully in a safer area as well because my workplace is in a sketchy area with a bunch of weirdos. I don't mind the food industry, but I admit people who get pissed off at you for getting their order wrong even though you repeated it multiple times is really annoying! I'd honestly hate to work in clothing though because folding laundry is my least favourite thing to do haha.

How old are you exactly? Have you though of going to college or anything? If not, I would suggest trying your hand at a Wal-Mart or something, I enjoyed working there when I was 16-17.. had a lot of fun and majority of people there during my shift were people I went to school with or got along with. Plus you work in different departments, so you don't have to be forced to mingle with EVERYONE, you'll form some bonds with other co-workers in your dept.

If school isn't in your agenda, just make sure you find another job prior to leaving your existing one. But Dairy Queen is so awesome :( FREE ICE CREAM! )

I'm 20, and I am in college! Early Childhood Education part-time program. Gahh.. walmart. Again, most of the people who work there are older women. Especially older Filipino women. XD Dairy Queen is pretty great, but all that free ice cream I've put on a few pounds lol. If I get hired at the bubble tea place I applied for, I'll at least have nothing overly fattening to eat...just juices, tea, and what not for drinks. Plus there's a sushi place right beside it. Ohhhh I hope I get it!!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I hated the customers.. I just enjoyed the time spent with buddies and horseplaying. I worked in the Garden Department, so it was me and 2 other guys from school who played football, so we'd stay outside and load people up with fertilizer and cow sh*t.. we were told not to accept tips, sh*tTTTT. I made an easy $100-150 a week from tips for loading people up.

Then we'd all rush to my truck during lunch and drink some cold ones out the cooler. Good days man, good days.

TLoU fanboys are starting to piss me off. I love the game, it was my 2nd choice for GOTY after V, but f*ck, some people take it way too f*ckin' seriously. Every Awards Show I've checked out on the internet is full of fanboys complaining that TLoU didn't win basically every award. People who are discussing sh*t like adults get swarmed by fanboys. I was talking about BI and TLoU to some dude over at GI back when the VGX was airing, and a fanboy comes in and basically insults everyone who found anything wrong or not great about it. He even PMed me. Jesus. Imagine a bunch of redx clones all over the internet, basically.

I mean, yeah, Bioshock Infintie and GTA V have fanboys, but they're insignificant compared to the amount of fanboys TLoU has. Every thirteen year old thinks he's Sherlock after playing it. They're making me dislike the game just because they like it lol

Oh, you did stock, you lucky bastard.

Being a cashier made me want to pull a Budd Dwyer after my 4th month. Kmart paid great, though. 8 hour shifts of nothing but: "Hi, how are you? Do you have a rewards card? Would you like me to help you load your 4000 items? Would you like to use your 2 points, worth approximately half a penny, towards your order? Have a good day!"

I added things to your rant. I hope you don't mind. But yeah, people like that need to stop, pull down their pants, and pull the giant rake from their ass. Be thankful you don't have a rake in your ass.

Haha, don't get me started on that. I know cashiers are just doing their jobs by policies they have to follow.. but I can deal more with the arrogant, pissy wal-mart cashiers or grocery store cashiers far better than I can other stores. Places like GameStop make me want to kill them.. 'do you want to purchase a subscription for GameInformer, would you like to pre-order this, would you like to give me a full nelson, would you like us to bathe you?' .. STFU AND JUST SCAN MY GOD DAMN GAME!

So, the days of working for customers, I hated them. Now I'm a customer, I hate the workers :p Circle of life.

Don't hate them. Hate their managers and the people who own it. We were forced to ask or we got fired if we didn't meet the quota.

Customers tend to think I change the prices of our products and get mad at me for how expensive things have gotten. People also get mad at me because each dairy queen is privately owned and we don't accept every single coupon out there and when I don't accept it they get mad at me for not making it clear, despite the coupon even stating *accepted at participating DQ locations*
f*ckin' eh.

Yeah, I remember one time a customer came through asking me about a grill or something and I was like 'If you give me just a few seconds sir, I can help you!', I was in the middle of lifting a huge box of outdoor patio furniture to put onto a shelf 10yrs above my head. He gets all pissy and demands to see my manager, I pointed to the door that she was in there. I ended up getting in trouble over it, so I spouted off and shown my ass to the manager and customer right there, then went through the entire store slamming boxes, knocking stuff over while walking to the back to get my stuff.

I left my mark, they eventually had the police knock on my door, I never had charges pressed for destruction of property or anything but I was banned from Wal-Mart .. but eventually, I just went back. I live in the south, so Wal-Mart is like our biggest store, our mall if you will.

One of my best buddies a few years back worked at Sears and he'd tell me sh*t like this everyday. It's pathetic. His manager was a dick, too. He'd basically force them to be really annoying about the Sears card (like, asking 5 times annoying), and if the costumer was being an asshole, the employee would be the one getting into trouble, even if the manager saw the whole thing. I would HATE to work retail.

I snapped.. so I guess that guy expected me to walk with him and talk about a grill while carrying a 200lb box.. Yeah, sorry, you're just going to have to wait or seek another worker bro. As far as your customers bitching about coupons. I'd say, "Well, if you really want to save .50 cents.." I'd take a 1/4 of the cone off :p

The cool thing about my work is, we don't follow the philosophy "the customer is always right" I am legit allowed to bitch back at a customer if I chose so. But I'm a sweetie pie, so I won't do that. (okay I did it a few times.)

I did a short stint for Lowe's as well.. and they have a firm belief in 'the customer is right, infinitely' .. If they say 'Hey man, I seen this same tool at Home Depot for $5 cheaper', we basically had to discount it, even though looking it up, it was a lie. Imagine working and your only customers are contractors and construction workers. It was a living hell.. I was in lumber department too.. Good thing I enlisted.. I would have done a killing spree up the East Coast if I remained in the customer business.

One reason I love my job so much. I wouldn't survive one day trying to please customers. I'd snap and kill someone in the middle of the store. Hell, I nearly snap just being a customer in stores like Wal-Mart. Then don't even get me started with GameStop and McDonalds!

@GunWrath: What's so bad about contractors and construction workers? The thing I hate is when you go into Lowe's knowing exactly what you're looking for, but one of their employees try to assist you and they don't know what the hell you're even talking about! The company I work for doesn't even deal with Lowe’s or Home Depot anymore. We usually deal with Dufrene and Shannon Hardware, along with a few other small family owned hardware stores down here.

f*ckin pissed off on myself.

sh*tty percentiles in entrance exams. Poor result in the sections I was good at. Shocked that I got comparatively better score in sections I wasn't comfortable with. Yet f*ck this sh*t. Career spiraling down. Got 2 more entrance exams coming. Hoping I won't disappoint myself again.

Also, f*cking mobile site won't show up. No button in the corners. Purchasing new phone wasn't a good idea. Can't scroll the full site without touching random topics by mistake.

Also, dat ass.

Basically....quoted for truth.

Begun, the flame war has, many times over TLoU and fan boys who think it's #1 best gaem evar. It's a game with the most generic post apocalypse story ever. It's just the story is executed well. But that's all. After I played it the first time, I never picked it up again. Had no replay value for me. But that's just me.

Program coordinator of my degree is pissing me off. Pissing us all off, actually.

He is the most useless professor I have ever seen or had, and by god he's our program coordinator. He hates all forms of criticism, people come to him with their concerns and if he views that concern as him doing something wrong or not enough he goes on the attack and starts throwing a hissy fit. Example, we had mock interviews last semester to prepare us for our field placement this summer, he was one of the interviewers. People signed up in advance, they cleared their work schedules for that specific time. They came to campus on their day off. The field placement adviser found out that he hadn't been properly doing the interviews. He didn't ask any questions, he just sat there, reviewed your resume and then coached you.

The field placement adviser politely asked him to conduct an actual interview as that's the purpose of the whole thing. He got all defensive and then the next day, he simply didn't show up to do the interviews. Students' came at their scheduled time and he just wasn't there. When they contacted the field placement adviser, he wasn't aware of any changes. Contacted the program coordinator who was like "oh my bad, I was at lunch, I forgot....". So the field placement adviser had to conduct those interviews himself. Later that day, program coordinator bailed out and said he was "overwhelmed".

I had a meeting with him to discuss possibly pursuing ADR (alternative dispute resolution) after I finish this degree, a set meeting with an appointment and all, two of the students who dick ride him show up and are like "oh do you have time to see us", right in front of me he says yes and tells me "you'll have to come back another time". I told him I had an appointment with him, I came in on my day off, I live 2 hours away. His response "they are more urgent".

Last year, he lost half the students' mid term exams and then went "hurrrr well I guess you have to re-write them". Last semester of this year, he messed up peoples marks, there was a 12% difference in one of my friend's marks.

So now he wants us to forcibly do some volunteer sh*t at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Downtown Toronto to promote our degree at an exhibition, and be like "hurrr come study here and give us yur monies".

If I had any heart, I'd warn people off but we'll have a chaperone there to make sure we actually show up and though it's "volunteer" work, we have to do it.

Plus, it'd look good on my resume. My program is just pure goddamn class politics. The program coordinator dick rides the people who participate in the mooting events (mock trials) and everyone else is just secondary. You'll be lucky if he knows your name despite us being three years into the program. We pay the same money as everyone else, yet we're treated secondary to the students he prefers because they dick ride him/have loads of time to devote.

/rant over.

I'm sorry. I had to get this out, its been boiling for almost three years now.

Speak to the department head. Most universities will have an office of the ombudsman who is the one who handles policies and ethics for the professors.
