Tonight, my mum asked me to go pick up a phone order she made from the local curry house, telling me to leave in 50 minutes. 40 minutes go by and I hop in my car and drive over. No where to park so I quickly stop on double yellows thinking I'll only be a minute.

 

How wrong could I be?

 

The curry house was packed, hell it took me ten minutes just to pay for an order made over an hour ago. So I'm standing in a cramped waiting room, waiting for food I didn't order and hate the existence of. I was stood in there for 45 minutes, surrounded by smells that make me feel sick and a number of disgruntled customers.

Eventually the order comes through and they profusely apologize. Me being a stereotypical Brit grin and bear it. Oh well, at least I have my food and hey, looks like they gave us a complimentary bottle of something.

Edit: About the temporary ban: Sometimes the mods are right sometimes they're wrong. It's just a forum I guess people who take it too seriously just need to get out more. Nevermind lol, I remember ClaudeSpeed being one of the most annoying members right next to GKP. He was a wannabe Zee.

Well, if you look at ClaudeSpeedRulez post history, he rarely, if ever contributes anything worthy to a topic. I never knew he got a temp ban, but I am surprised he hasn't been fully banned by now. Oh well.

 

Anyway, I have grown to really like this new layout. I think my only gripe is that now, people are literally begging for "Respect points" for their posts. I can't remember the member's name, but in his signature he has something like "be sure to hit dat Respect+ if you like my posts or if they made you LOL." Kind of pathetic if you ask me.

Well even if Harry Potter does manage to break free, I don't think going straight to the nearest street corner is the best advice. Don't suck where you sleep as they say. You want to leave at least 6 blocks between your soliciting point and your house. I used to be a working girl myself for a while. So take my advice.

Totally agreed, once I even received a 1 month temp ban just for having an opposite opinion from the "crowd".

Oh come on, you can't honestly expect me to believe you got temp banned for a month for having an opposing opinion, thats a load of horsesh*t. You probably recieved a temp ban for flaming other members or trolling. The mods make mistakes but damn don't act like they're a bunch of f*cking idiots.

 

 

Can't remember the exact details but this sounds about right. User had a history of making posts like this or this and didn't want to learn - hence the 15 day temp ban it seems (not 1 month). Telling people they're retarded or quoting posts and calling them retarded does not contribute to GTAV discussion in any way.

 

If you really have a differing opinion, try and think of something a little more interesting versus the name calling or negative labeling.

@The General: Antagonista/Sgt. Foley was asking for respect points on Skype, and now he has 106 respect points. Hence, we decided to give him a one star user rating.

 

I agree though, the system needs to be tweaked a bit. The number of 'this' posts has reduced but it's being abused a lot.

Nothing is worse than when one has a thread containing NEW high quality artwork, then some asshole updates his hour old thread that previously contained sh*tty small pictures of one of the artworks to use the EXACT SAME pictures I had in my thread, then MY thread gets DELETED he updates HIS topic and a moderator posts THE SAME PICTURES on PAGE 3 of the topic saying "just found these"

I think its best to equate the 'respect' thing with likes on facebook. So where people may agree with a post and respect its content they've tended to actually hit the respect button if they read a post with a good joke. I wouldn't mind the system getting canned myself but the last few days have been interesting.

It would be nice to be able to get the old quote frames back.

 

The Respect system is a waste, but you can view how silly some of the respected replies are by opening the persons Profile and clicking the 'Respect' Tab. Then you can see the person and the 'honorable' post that they have 'Respect' for. If it must continue the 'post/reply' should have the score, not the Member.

The one good thing about it is: we should no longer see those "here's a cookie" posts. Again, I say the post/reply deserves the count.

Trying to converse with my mother is extremely annoying. Whenever I try to talk to her she always says that I only see her when I need something. I then try to go visit her and hold a conversation with her, but then she just turns up her music or puts her ear-buds in and ignores me. I then ask her why she wants me to talk to her if she ignores me every time. Well a few loudly spoken words later and our would-be conversation is now an argument. When I try to find out what her interests are the same crap happens each time. I honestly don't understand what she expects me to do. Each time she talks to me about something it's the same repetitive crap about how she loves Maria Kerry or some other crap about music singers. Whenever I try to talk to her about real world events,science, or technology she always either gets angry at me for no apparent reason or turns her music up and ignores me even more. I really don't know what she expects me to do.

Find a common interest or get interested in (or at least learned enough to discuss) what she's interested in. People mostly aren't going to change their interests to accommodate for you so you have to do it yourself.

 

Sometimes it's best to talk about whatever's going on currently. Is your mother baking? Ask her what she's baking. Comment on how good it smells. Is your mom listening to music? Ask her what she's listening to. Make small talk if you can't do anything else.
