"This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close," said The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. "Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top." "It has been an amazing experience and a great run," Schwartz continued. "For a certain audience, at a certain time, The O.C. has meant something. For that we are grateful." The teen drama debuted in 2003 and followed four young friends - Marissa (Mischa Barton), Ryan (Ben McKenzie), Seth (Adam Brody) and Summer (Rachel Bilson) - who lived in California's Orange County. It became an instant hit, launching several indie bands whose music was featured in the series and spawning the reality show Laguna Beach, which dubbed itself "The Real O.C." Viewers started tuning out during the drama's third season, which was marred by increasingly melodramatic plots - reportedly because Schwartz was busy developing other series. The O.C. will wrap up in the US on February 22 and the finale will likely screen on Network Ten the following Tuesday, per the broadcaster's policy of airing the drama in Australia soon after it's aired in the States. In reality Orange County is mostly middle class, I barely squeak into that label myself, that's only because I live with my parents. If only those people who judge me were right. I can't stand the f*cking adverts either. I've been waiting for this cancellation for a loooong time. A show that wasn't innovative at all just a stupid f*cking clone of 90210 which i hated too. Fox got rid of some good shows for this stupid sh*t. But there were plenty ofshows that didn't deserve the boot like chris carter's Millennium. But all that aside at least this no talented tenny bopper sh*t is all over. Don't know what you guys are on about, but honestly if you don't like it don't watch it. Anyways, I have no problem with it being canned there are enough other shows on television. We should start a petition to bring it back. That show was complete greatness. About The OC thing. I watch it, and I don't have a problem with it. But it did need to end. However, for some reason when people around me talk about it and get liike sooooooo over excited, I feel this strange urge to disembowel a bitch. I was sure I'd cave and check it out just to see what all the fuss was about, but now it looks like I won't have to. Also, when good bands that have been around for years are featured on the show, all I hear is 'Oh yeeaah they were on The O.C.!'. It kind of cheapens their appeal. f*cko.
