Edmachine
Everyone is being pissed by the spam of the new members in GTAF. Maybe one person is trying to make duplicate accounts. I think these spammers must be banned and their IP addresses to prevent them from creating multiple accounts. If permanent ban also includes IP ban, then please lock this. Waddy
Im not pissed off about spam by new members, theres just as much with the older members. I think I know the member your talking about, I think that a perm ban isnt always an IP ban aswell, im not sure but I think only Admins can IP ban, probably wrong though. In any case, the person in question, paleric whatever should have an IP ban ASAP, normally banned members just vanish into the shadows them make a new account, very rare they are stupid enough to do what this guy is doing. jarjar
Nope, when your permanently banned (or normally banned too, I think) from what I've been told abotu the system you can still access GTAForums and PM members and such, just not post. Although, it does all depend on the banning, on IPB you can chose to ban members from doing anything at all. Once again, with GTAForums being majorly different then the normal IPB with all the custom hacks, I may be wrong, so don't quote me on it. IP bans are a good idea yes, but some people have dynamic IP's too, meaning each time they reset there router they have a new IP. Making IP blocking useless in some cases. Administrators have the option to search through member account to reviele all members on the same IP, thats how most duplicated accounts are found. A similar, less intensive feature is available for Moderators too.

If these members who contribute to the problem are banned, they can't post but can still PM ? That would create PM spam, just PM'ing people on the forum for nothing. Don't forget, they (spammers) will do anything to occupy their time. Something needs to be enforced to stop them PM'ing. anuj
Just report any spam you do see and we'll ban the user. No need to start taking pre-emptive measures when it literally takes less than a minute to bin the topic and ban the user. I'll even apologize for the spam inconveniencing your eyes. lesfleanut
Anuj, you don't understand. This is a highly sensitive issue with massive worldwide repercussions, this needs to be addressed.
Big Slow
Nope, when your permanently banned (or normally banned too, I think) from what I've been told abotu the system you can still access GTAForums and PM members and such, just not post. When I was temporarily banned, I couldn't do anything but read threads. No pm'ing or any communication was allowed. It may have changed, or I'm mistaken, but that's what I remember. Yeah, well like I said I'm not actually sure, this is just from what I have been told. Chances are I am wrong to a degree. Sorry if I am.
