ziggle
SA is nearly unplayable on my PC, especially when driving. The sound and video stop & stutter. I have the game settings set as low as they go. Do you think the problem is my video card? If so any suggestions that won't break the bank. Specs: Dell DIMENSION 4550 INTEL PENTIUM 4 2.66GHZ 1024 Memory Sound = Soundmax Intergrated Video Card = GEFORCE4 MX420 64MB Windows XP SP2 Edited December 28, 2006 by ziggle Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/263892-nearly-unplayable/ Share on other sites

vALKYR
Hmm dunno but a 64 MB GeForce 2, bad news big time mate but that card is just a tad to old for GTA SA, even if it meets the system requirements. torchwood3
firstly try changeing your advanced display settings to low quality and smallest screen.. play with that for a bit.. then right click in your comp desktop.. go to properties.. settings.. advanced then the troubleshoot tab.. and move then hardware acceleration to middle and take off enable write combinig... that works fine for me.. and now i can have it on full quality and largest screen size without any freezing. (well cant kno as it broke the other day..grr) Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/263892-nearly-unplayable/#findComment-3989275 Share on other sites

ziggle
Ok I have tried everything listed above in the post.. I have defraged the HD, updated drivers, tried playing with Anit-virus turned off, checked for virus & spyware and I have a new video card Radeon 9550 256MB, but nothing has changed in the way the game plays. It seems to have problems the most when I am driving fast or in an area like Downtown where there are tall buildings. Any more ideas? I haven't had this problem with any other games. Half Life 2, Doom 3, Swat 4, all play perfectly.
