drar...
I have a problem with the sound... It doesn't sound anything when I shoot or are being shot by others. The cars that pass by doesn't sound, the police sirens doesn't, the people who are being hit by cars doesn't sound. I have tried to update my audio device but the problem is still there please help me... I don't want to re-install the whole thing, i've come to far in the game by the way: the whole thing crashes if I or any character in the game shoots... that's why I must solve the problem so that I can finish the game. TonyZimmzy
This happened to me aswell, it only happens when you're using a no-cd crack. When the CD is in, everything is fine. So if you've downloaded a copy from the internet, live without sound, and save your 15 bucks. If your CD is in the drive whilst playing, then this beats me. Hope it helped, though. How could you possibly know whether or not there is a sound when you or someone else in the game shoots if the game crashes whenever a shot is fired? If you've reinstalled the game, the we can rule out the possibility of mods being the culprit here. As far as I can tell, there's two possibilities. The first is that you have some sort of sound card compatibility issue (as in, it doesn't support hardware buffering) - you can do a few things to see if this is the case. Firstly, go into GTA3, go to Audio Options and try a few different hardware settings. If you can't find one that works, then you can load up dxdiag (go back to Windows and click on Start, Run and then type dxdiag) and try a few different hardware settings in the Sound/Audio tab by moving the slider. If that doesn't work, then we come to the second possibility... Is this a legit copy you're using or a warezed version? If it's warezed, give up now - go and buy the game. I'm willing to bet that it's warezed, which would account for the lack of sounds - they're often removed to make the download smaller. As for the crashing - well, if it's warezed, it's quite possible your EXE is messed up too. If you ARE using a legit version, then I really don't know. Short of getting a new PC, I don't see how you're going to fix the problem.
drar...
the shooting sound is back ... but there is still no sound from the police sirens and people who get hit by cars and when i shoot a couple of times the game crashes again. I noticed that the pedestrians doesn't speak... they were saying a few thing before the problem started... it comes up a message about gta.exe... how can I replace that? the game isn't downloaded, I have a cd but it's a copy Edited December 28, 2006 by drar... radioman
Your problem is no doubt the fact that you have a "copy" of the disc and not the "original" game disc. All the files are on the original disc. This is also considered waraz and is not tolerated on this forum.-just a friendly reminder.
Heihachi_73
It could also be the game trying to simulate 4 channels in stereo mode, that noticably happens when it rains (and in San Andreas too) - change the sound to "Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio" and I found it makes the game sound properly again. Otherwise you'll get a quiet police siren, and a loud siren when you look behind (Creative Labs EAX driver does that). I had the warezed version a long time ago and it had no music and a Myth logo for the intro - I grabbed a real version for $9 at GameTraders shortly after as it crashed all the time. It's not that hard to find, and it isn't bumped up in the dollars like the Sony licensed products on one certain console.
