*gta star*
Oh yeah, it's similar to Falcon then, except you don't need to set your rudders. The secret to landing - You need to reduce your speed, whilst watching the Altimeter and Horizon level. You also need to let Air Traffic Control that you are inbound for landing, then once they give you vectors, just follow them. Using rudders, straighten yourself up for the runway, once you are below 300 knots, lower the Landing Gear, lower the nose of the plane. However, when coming into land, it's important that you don't smash to the floor. To do this, when you come into the runway, you should pull back on the joystick and lift up slightly. This means that your back wheels touch the floor, then you can slowly bring the nose down, instead of crashing down, then you need to brake ! Too bad I don't have a joystick anymore. Guess my next upgrades will be gfx card + FSX + joystick.
Brutuz
I'm "Acquiring" a copy of the game, I know it works, and will a PS2 controller with one of those USB adapters work with it?
*gta star*
I don't think it will mate, better off getting a Joystick in the long run anyway. Edited January 9, 2007 by *gta star*
Torcidas
I still use Keyboard and Mouse (Mouse Yoke with Virtual Cockpit). I will get a joystick for it however. How much better is it with the joystick?
BroDan
A joystick is much easier, much more fun and feels so much cooler. I am getting a new joystick with a seperate throttle when I get paid because my current one bores me. Still alive, lurking in the shadows. AlianAnt
I use the Xbox 360 wierd controller. Works well, except when going in to land because then I'm always reaching up on the keyboards to set flaps and such. Metal up your ass!
AlianAnt
I want the space shuttle addon that's been made but the people who made it are charging $30. I can't be arsed to pay that much for it. Google the 'game' Orbiter. Its like FSX but for free and in space. However, its got one HELL of a learning curve. If you wana do anything but spin off into space with the Delta Flyer (basically the 'space plane'), you've got work to do. But once you finnally get the hang of it, its really cool. You think going from JFK to London is cool? How about from the International Space Station to a base on Mars? Edit: f*ck DOUBLE POST! Metal up your ass! Would you say a 747-400 approach to Heathrow would be the same with 500 passengers on board?

*gta star*
Would you say a 747-400 approach to Heathrow would be the same with 500 passengers on board? Why wouldn't it be ? Fair enough you have passengers onboard, you have the same controls on an F-16 as what you have on a 747, if not , very similar. Obviously, some aspects will be different, like the flaps and stuff but basically, the F-16 works the same, with controls such as; rudders, throttle, altimeter, air speed, navigation etc. What would be different ? I will get a joystick for it however. How much better is it with the joystick? Well, a Joystick has the main features on for flight games. You twist the Joystick for rudder control, you have a throttle, camera view button etc.
Brad
Appraoch would be the hardest thing I think, frequencies... SPEED BRAKE FTW! I think its differant then a light aircraft like an f-16 compared to a 747...
*gta star*
Obviously, I know that approach is hard. Basically, the decreasing altitude level would be alot more in a Boeing because of the weight, the plane would decrease fast if you weren't controlling it. The plane comes into the runway the same as an F-16, obviously the altitude levels would be different because of weight. Coming into the runway, you control speed, altitude, rudders, landing gear and landing lights, horizon level and lots more... Basically the same stuff. Brad
A commerical airline ready to go. Where to fly to?
Deuce Deuce
Currently doing my Journey from Heathrow to LAX, 10 hours of flight left. Glad you can save and go back whenever you want Wow, that's a mint feature to have. Say if you wanted a quick game and something cropped up, you could just save it and carry on at a later date! High settings for you my friend. Cheers. So, when you get in the plane that you want to fly ? What do you do, like is there aload of buttons to press before you take off, or just a few ? I know that in "Fakcon : Allied Forces", which is a Fighting Flight Simulator game, you have to press aload of buttons, which takes about 15 mins before you can even start to taxi... Download the demo mate. Should give you an idea of how everything works in the space of how much play-time you get on it until the trial runs out. Baring in mind it only has a few of the aircraft you can fly and you only get to fly from and to about 5-6 airports (one in the caribbean I think ). But yeah, I can run the game on medium-high settings with no lag - my specs: AMD Athlon 3200+ 1GB of DDR RAM GeForce 6600GT 128MB GFX card Windows XP Professional SP2 75.7 GB of free hard disk space (at the moment, when nothing was stored in C:/ it was in the hundreds I think). I'm not a great fan on it, but I still like it. Good fun.

Sixdust
F#ck, I SUCK AT THIS GAME!!!! I took off from La Guardia, after like crashing like ten times, landing in the water, and then as a finale, smashing into the empire state building. Talk about bad keyboard skills. Though I have a joystick, I am still waiting to upgrade my sound card, thus giving me a MIDI port to use it in.
