Microsoft Flight Simulator

My uncle got this game for christmas and I played it with him today...all I can say is wow. I have never even been remotely interested in flight simulators before, but this game just looked amazing. The entire world is modeled super-realistically.

The graphics are unbelievable for the size and scope of this game, and it is just incredibly realistic. The are so many things you can tweak, and you can make your flight as realistic as you possibly could on a computer. Seriously, I was blown away.

I would probably buy it if i knew my computer could run it at a high level.

If you are debating it, don't. Just go out and buy the sh*t...

Well yeah the uni dept specialise in engineering, not actual pilot training so it's a bit more precise for the regions of experimentation etc. And yes, they said it cost a similar amount to the new gym being built. f*cking fun tho tounge.gif

My dad actually is a pilot, and he actually flies on FS. There's also an addon to professional pilots for FS, called IVAO, that's similar to SAMP. FS is pretty cool, and I'm thinking on getting FS X on june 2007, but my FS2004 is just fine! You CAN mod it, but IDK what's the format of the files

Yeah, I'm thinking about purchasing Flight Simulator X, sometime in January or so. There are so many add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, "Airliner Pilot", which allows you to fly commercially and you can even get the 'Deluxe' edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator X, which has Military planes available. "Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight" can be a hard game to come across now, even in major game stores because Flight Simulator X has taken over it now, you can pick this up in many stores.

I got a game for Christmas, a fighter jet simulator game called "Falcon: Allied Forces", it's just over a year old now. The whole thing is so realistic, talking to Air Traffic control, using the radar and other instruments such as; Air Speed, Altitude, Fuel and Throttle and much more, it's great. So many training activities which are fun too, like taking off, landing, shooting your missiles and targetting other planes. Basically, the things which are hard when you are 30,000 feet in the air doing 600 knots lol. tounge.gif

Yes, recently I have bought Microsoft flight simulator 2004 and it is extremely realistic. It has ground control and landing permission is needed aswell. If you are looking for a bigger range of planes you can download them Here I am very pleased with this game and hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks, I'm not getting Flight Simulator X just of yet, in a few weeks I'll get it. It's the same in the game I got for Christmas, 'Falcon', you have to request landing etc.

Incredibly realistic. smile.gif

I'm gonna try and buy this game with Christmas money since my computer has 160 GB  biggrin.gif

What the hell does that have to do with anything? What are your other specs?

Hah, sorry. Joke. dontgetit.gif

user posted image

That's the minimum specs though mate, meaning your PC will "run" the game which is only part of what you'd need to actually enjoy the game. Running smoothly it won't with the specs you've got I am afraid.

And regarding some real pilots using FSX in colleges and stuff, FSX is only part of it as they use machines that simulate the movements as well as the physical cockpit. Most people don't have one of these in their homes I am sure as they cost sh*tloads.

Just toss that graphics card into the fires of Sauron!!!

I know I should do the same. I guess, if you add more RAM and another gfx card to your computer it should run ok.

If your computer can handle it I suggest getting Flight Simulator X.

It's pretty expensive but very very realistic. Even with a full 3D cockpit like the vehicles in BF2 (lol).

FS2004 is OK, and can run on just about any computer.

Also, I suggest looking for a joystick or better yet a virtual plane dashboard controler. icon14.gif

Even on my comp?

(An HP pavilion F1703. None of that fancy Alienware. could NEVER afford it)

and my crappy graphics card?

(A extreme graphics 2, which i heard is pretty crappy.

FS-X will bring any computer to it's knees, even my gaming laptop (FYI, 3.6GHz P4 660, 2GB DDR2 RAM, nVidia Go GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB). It'll be a waste of time if you have a dated or low range machine.

It's because the game is so big and is so realistic that you need decent components to run it.

It's sweet to be Back!!!

I Missed you guys!

Well anyway No BS I just got this 3-days ago and i can't even enjoy I have a high-end pc custom built and it just doesn't cut it. loading times are horrible i can't even use the ultra high setting everything is white and blocky when you switch views. And the FPS are like viewing a slideshow. Then to top it off you have to activated it with MS so you can keep using it. meaning I cannot install it on my other pc's.

I don't know if anyone has notice but if you look into the main folder in Microsoft games/ Flight Simulator X Deluxe in your drive their are alot of files related to DirectX10.

Anyways aleast it comes with a SDK.

Game runs fine on my GeForce 6800 and 3ghz P4. Then again, that was the demo, and the first one at that. But I don't know how it could go from running fine on medium to ultra high settings (depending on the item in question) to garbage.

If you've got performce problems, you ought to go get Century of Flight wich runs like a dream on my machine at maxed out settings. But it doesn't look nearly as good as FSX on even medium settings.

Metal up your ass!

Haha. When I said it would run on pretty much any computer I really thought that. My nephew was telling me a few weeks ago that they started to do some work with Flight Simulator 2004 in computer class. Now, these computers we're talking about are Gateways from 5 years ago. lol.gif

I run the FSX using my 7900GT. Ultra High settings on everything except for Air Traffic, which really really lags it. Sometimes I keep the Enviroment on lowest because it loads 10 times faster. Half the time you're not even looking at the ground anyways. Respectable framerates of over 30FPS.

Quality adjustment, (like me) you'll have some problems.

I agree with you i'll probadly give that one a try.

since I can't get desent framerates with FSX-Deluxe.

mine you these are my specs on the computer that I have installed it on and It still acts crappy I did read somewhere in the manual that it has some sort of glitch with AMD processors. But at Microsofts site theirs no patches or workaround only they recommend to adjust the Global Settings to High. Which I have already done but I still get the same results. Now searching thru the net some might differ with my findings but some lead programmers claim that without DirectX10 or Vista support the experience will be noticable meaning bad. So I guessing If I would install this on Vista It probadly would run better I guess but without a DX10 card it would serve no purpose. I'm going back to Bestbuy to see if I can get aleast store credit for it. And get NFS Carbon instead

I can't afford to upgrade this pc again it has left me flat broke.

My Specs:

AMD Athlon64 FX60 CPU

4- gigs of Kingston Hyper X DDR2 memory

WinXp Pro SP2

2-GeForce BFG 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-E

SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum SC

...Jeasus Lord allmightey... I thought my computer was good. You'd think with 2 GF7800s, and 2 gigs of ram, everything should run like its driving a pillow, stacked on a cloud.

My FS-X doesn't run like sh*t...

A64 3200 clocked @ 2.2Ghz

1gb Ram

128mb Geforce 6600GT clocked at 550/1100

Running on Medium high for all settings and doesn't lag out at all. The main thing you have to think about with FS-X is that it's not a combat flight sim or anything so you're not pulling breakneck moves all the time and sh*t making it hard for your PC and the game to keep up.

My rig is running it fine and it's very enjoyable. I think it's not a spec issue for how high your spec is but how the games see your hardware config.

I changed my settings to High and i'm not seeing any major problems. One downside I see a lot if switching views will screw up texture loading but a few flicks between windowed and full screen seems to fix this. Also on high I sometimes hang for about 2 minutes while the game decides what it wants to do but I can live with that, it's definately playable.

As long as you fly high enough you can run the game on any settings you want, less to load at 5000 ft tounge.gif

I want the space shuttle addon that's been made but the people who made it are charging $30. I can't be arsed to pay that much for it.

Currently doing my Journey from Heathrow to LAX, 10 hours of flight left. Glad you can save and go back whenever you want biggrin.gif

I've changed my mind of taking FSX back instead I'm going to keep it and try to enjoy it since to tell you the truth I haven't really gave a chance. And my Girl seems to like it which is kind of strange since she is into RPG but this one has seem to draw here attention. Who knows I'll probadly get good at it. I'm really loving the bloom, weather effects and the Muti-player Mode I just wish it would run smoother and not lag so much.

Wow, that's a mint feature to have. Say if you wanted a quick game and something cropped up, you could just save it and carry on at a later date! biggrin.gif

High settings for you my friend.

Cheers. icon14.gif

So, when you get in the plane that you want to fly ? What do you do, like is there aload of buttons to press before you take off, or just a few ?

I know that in "Fakcon : Allied Forces", which is a Fighting Flight Simulator game, you have to press aload of buttons, which takes about 15 mins before you can even start to taxi... bored.gif

Its very easy.

If you were to start on active runway, first thing to do is get clearence from the Airports tower. While doing this put your flaps to degress (747-400). Once you have clearence, throttle forword and your on your way.

If we were talking about landing, we would be here for days wink.giftounge.gif
