Canoxa
Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're into modding the game and lots of multiplayer action, go for the PC version. If you want just plain gaming with no performance issues, go for the PS2.
brucewayne909
I find using the keyboard on the PC extremely difficult, so I'm OK with the PS2.
WillzyyyGTA
I would recomend the PC version. It has slightly more features (including better aiming) and nicer textures and gaphics and you can listen to YOUR own music in the car!!
Spuds725
I would post your PC specs (including vid card) and make sure you won't have performance issues running the game... I've never played on PC but can't imagine not using a PS2 controller....especially flying the hunter.... a keyboard/mouse are not very ergonomical... stewart-gta
i serpose that the only real differance is that you can mod the game on pc
Starion
A lot better on the pc, the oppertunities with that game are amazing with the mod community and all(and multiplayer), just get a nice logitech gamepad and you'll be fine. mod it with Nitrous Oxide and chassis dyno. Pranjal
If you're into modding the game and lots of multiplayer action, go for the PC version. If you want just plain gaming with no performance issues, go for the PS2 The PC versions of all GTA games have better graphics and draw distances than their console counterparts. So, modding is not the only reason why a PC version is prefered. The PS2 version gets a better rating because that is usually released 6 months earlier than the PC one. Also, there are much better PC games than the GTA series. So, I would recommend the PC version of Vice City .Only make sure your PC config confirms to the recommended specs.which are quite mild by today's standards since VC for PC was released in 2003. Heihachi_73
just get a nice logitech gamepad and you'll be fine. The only thing is, don't forget to reach out to hit Esc to pause, unfortunately Rockstar didn't give you the opportunity to map such an item. Craig Kostelecky
I bought an adapter to hook up my PlayStation controller to my PC (it's about $15-$20) and there's some software out there that can allow you to map the start button to the escape key. That way you have the best of both worlds. And then you'd be able to try some of the many high quality mods that have been released for Vice City (like the GTA:LC project). glenster
PS2 comes out 1st, Hilary's Sabre Turbo is bullet-proof, you can use an FBI Rancher in a Pay 'n' Spray, block the pier in "All Hands on Deck," drive a Din- ghy upside-down, the Hunter rockets have auto-aim, the prostitutes are good for Tommy's health until he delivers pizza, and you have a Vice Point Langer hotel. PC comes out later with the original graphics (not lessened for PS2), the ability to improve the machine you play it on to make them better yet (although what for 2007 is a low end machine should be able to play it fine), instant replay (cool for cycle stunts), allows you to install MP3 and wav files and shortcuts for them, allows you to install mods (including the ability for anyone to modify the data\handling.cfg file for The Driver, RC Bandit, etc., to make them easier, and the LC mod to have "III" with cycles), you use a different super jump, a variety of vehicles can be dependably found in certain locations, Tommy can drive into the mansion, he gets three bodyguards at the mansion with 100% completion of the game, he doesn't trip over the curb, the Hunter machine gun has auto-aim for Brown Thun- der, the prostitutes are always good for Tommy's health, and you have a WK Chariot hotel. PS2 features auto-aim for the handguns, submachine guns, and shotguns. (Rusk's PS2 walk-through says it has auto-aim for walking on girders.) PC Classic Controls feature auto-aim for the handguns, submachine guns, shot- guns, but not for walking girders, and on PC Standard Controls with Mouse Controlled Steering (my favorite), without auto-aim, Tommy can look around and his weapons, notably the Minigun, can be freely aimed in practically any direction, cars and trucks can be steered smoothly, and Tommy moves like a human being instead of like a robot. On PC, you can use keyboard and mouse or a gamepad (like the Rumblepad 2). I use keyboard and mouse for the freedom and accuracy of aiming Tommy and his weapons. A gamepad is clumsier at that, which is why it has auto-aim for some weapons. A sniper rifle with a gamepad is the worst. (Maybe I'm just more used to the keyboard, but cycle stunts feel easier for me with it, too.) Some people like the gamepad better for flying. It just assigns W,S,A,D directions to the left stick, which isn't much of a difference. You don't fly nearly as often as aim weapons in the game, and the Hunter has mild auto-aim for the machine gun for Brown Thunder, which is pretty easy. Ring_of_Fire
PC for me. Although I think they removed some pedestrian, speech, and sexual content out of the PC version? Also, there were more unlockables for the PS2 like BP-Sabre Turbo and other tricks/cheats/glitches that couldn't be done on PC. For example, you can't be Candy Suxxx on the PC version. But via the use of LithJoe's trainer, you actually can. PC because: Better graphics with 6x/16x anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering at a res above 1280x1024+ 32bit. Better controllability Mods/trainers/code tools Actually, I think PC version has more working glitches than PS2 now except for the trick to kill the driver in the head and not get "mission failed". I realized that although some may work for PS2, they don't work as good like on PC. The buggy F1-Replay effect allowed for some more glitches too in the game's code. .:Alex:.
I would have said PC had the game not frozen for 3 minutes every 5 seconds because it was trying to get the radio stations from the disc despite the fact I specifically installed them to the hard drive. Bloody thing... The PC version looks so inviting..
ViceCityMamba80
neither really, xbox is the best of them and when you can add in the pc mods and other things on a modded xbox, you truly see that xbox is at the top if not right at it. even when it came out for xbox, it was undoubtedly better, the option of custom soundtracks really can make this game experience better, adding tons of 80s cheese can make vice city really feel like 1986. that's just my 2cents. Demarest
PC has an MP3 station and modability. It also has things the XBox does not, like mouse control, superior graphics and sound. Plus, eveybody already has a PC. I really am surprised to see that consoles are still even around.
BixDugan
allows you to install MP3 and wav files and shortcuts for them, allows you to install mods (including the ability for anyone to modify the data\handling.cfg file for The Driver, RC Bandit, etc., to make them easier, So if you're a lame player, be sure to get the PC version. I never said they were easy missions, but PS2 players don't have the luxury of altering the basic game. So we have to man-up and do the damn thing. I'm not saying EVERY PC player wimps out and changes specs after a few failures, but it looks like some do. And I HAD to defend my platform. I have SOME pride... dogder
throwing my two cents into voting for ps2, mainly because it's the platform I currently play on and accept the challenge of analogue controllers... Exogen
Personally, I think that the PC is better. This could be because I'm not so hot at playstation controls, but honestly, there's a fun modding community, and some great stuff. My machine isn't amazing, but it handles the game pretty well. Then again, I don't know my specs exactly. This is a computer I bought from my school and never bothered to check.
Tommy Dickfingers
I never played it on the PC, but always loved it on the PS2. But now I have sold my PS2 and bought an Xbox 360 and it isn't the same I should've kept my PS2 just for the GTA games.
