ParoXum
I totally agree with Jarjar, in my opinion, G-TXD is still beta, even if it works fine now. And i still don't like it for texture replacement, because i've been used to use Workshop when replacing all the SA txd, one by one. Habits i can lose easily. The boths tools are great. But can't be compared, because one has been madfe one year before the other. If only the tools were merged into one it'll be perfect. But hey, it's only my opinion. Mipmaping was the most anticipated feature i wanted. - Also REspawn, the special french letters are fixed ?
REspawn
@leviatan: thanks for the comments, but i would agree with jarjar and ParoXum some people would say the same about TXD Workshop and give out about G-TXD, its all a matter of opinion, Jernej (Delfi) put alot of work into his tools and I used them myself for ages. Use the tool you feel most comfortable in, but keep respect for the people made the first tools and helped people like me and you. @ParoXum: yea characters should appear correctly, what kinda replace feature would you like? REspawn
thanks jarjar, i have been trying to figure out why the radar would appear like that for you. G-DAR sorts the radar tiles after loading so the only way i could get my SA radar to get mixed up was to rename the external files and internal files. If its not to muc trouble would you mind checking your img archive for duplicate files, and if none exsists would you have a look at the names to see if the internal names match the external ones (examples: radar00.txd has radar00 image inside it) I didnt even notcie the icon Thanks jarjar, -Dave
Suction Testicle Man
Very nice, my new regular tool I think. One little request - could we have a vertical flip tool for textures? Just simple command choices of vertically flip texture, alpha, and both. Very handy for Zmod users that still use bitmaps for textures (you're probably familiar with the age-old issue). Loading up each texture in paint to flip it when creating a txd is very tiresome (though I should be using targas, PS takes forever to load on my machine. Thanks Edit: Also, I'm not able to open any two txd files at the same time - I just get a standard Windows error. Edit2: And it buggered over my vehicle.txd file too, but it crashes and disappears too quickly for me to see the error message... Edited January 8, 2007 by Suction Testicle Man If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.
REspawn
@leviatan; Nice mod @Suction Testicle Man: Yea it no problem to add the flipping, will get onto it tonight. Edit1: I dont really know what you say about the not being able to open two txd files and it crashes out, best thing i can do if your willing is to meet you on msn and we can see what happens and i can give you a special version of g-txd to see where it runs into trouble on your system. Will send you a PM. Edit 2: Will get the file off you and see why it done that. Thanks, -Dave

You need to open the Texture Dictionary for that vehicle you wish to edit and you'll find the skin in there. Ben
this might be a stupid question but I havent found it anywhere...but how do I edit the car skins? You need to open the Texture Dictionary for that vehicle you wish to edit and you'll find the skin in there. Where do I find the texture dictionary for...let's say the stretch You need to look in the default.ide file - it's located in your GTA\data folder (open it with Notepad). Find the relevant section - in this case, vehicles. I'll use VC as an example in this case. Using the column descriptions, look across the stretch line until you get to the TXD name column. You'll see it's simply called stretch. Now, grab yourself a copy of G-IMG. Load your gta3.img file (located in GTA\models) and search for stretch.txd - extract it. Then load up G-TXD and you can access the textures . Also note that this is a release topic for a tool, not a tutorial on how to edit textures. If you need help, please use the Textures and Modelling Forum in future. Good luck .

REspawn
I wasnt going to release this until the weekend but it looks like I wont be getting any me time this weekend so its a no on g-tools dev and a no on the hot cream facial. So instead of people waiting for the changes I will release tonight, there are some more changes coming, it just wont be until next week. Thanks to everyone here, msn and irc for all the feedback. G-TXD 0.1.1 Added ability to apply properties to multiple adding textures Added some focus events to make editing properties faster G-TXD now keeps the width, size and location of the window from last use Added some extra context menu items to save time and mouse wear and tear Added functions to flip textures vertically and horizontally Added mouse dragging of texture in preview area (right click to drag, left to reset, its more fun than feature) Added mouse wheel support for switching between tabs Download: Here
REspawn
Same reason for this update as the G-TXD one, not going to be around this weekend to do some work on g-tools so releasing this now because people were looking for some of the features. G-IMG 0.1.1 Added the adding scan G-IMG keeps the window position and size from last time Extra drag and drop support for opening and adding Some GUI / language fixes IDE Harvest updatedHarvest txd, dff, col, ifp Add a gta .dat map listing Extract into seperate folder (based on ide file names) Delete harvested files from archive Rebuild archive after harvest Download: Here
SteaVor
Amazing work, but some new issues appeared in the latest version: - Sorting the files doesn't work, neither by clicking the column nor by using 'Options' -> 'Sort By' (the tick marks the desired option, but it has no effect) - It crashes every time I want to exit the program (Unhandled Exception - Part of path <Path to G-IMG>\temp cannot be found) - Exception if I want to replace more than one file at a time. Clicking 'Apply' (no or less than needed 'files to replace with' entered) makes it shout out 'Invalid path format' (anything related to DirectX up-to-date and installed properly) Edited January 14, 2007 by SteaVor
REspawn
Thanks, i went back and checked out what you were saying... @Sorting: I turned that off after the first release, i didnt mention it in any of the readmes but i think it back near the start of the topic. @exit crash / replace: I tried getting this to happen for me with no luck, i did add an add folder option for replacing multiple files, if you had an old version of g-img and then just put the new one in ontop of it i would suggest just removing everything from the old on and just getting the new one. I uploaded the new version, let me know how you get on: http://www.turnipfan.com/downloads/G-IMG.rar Thanks for your help, -Dave
SteaVor
Exiting now works fine, but replacing still doesn't. Example: Clicking Apply still makes it complain: System.ArgumentException: The path does not have a valid format. at System.IO.Path.NormalizePathFast(String path, Boolean fullCheck) at System.IO.Path.GetFullPathInternal(String path) at System.IO.FileInfo..ctor(String fileName) at IMG.VCArchive.replaceFiles(Int32[] indexes, String[] files) at G_IMG.frmMain.replaceMultiple() at G_IMG.frmMain.replaceFiles() at G_IMG.frmMain.replaceToolStripMenuItem_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.RaiseEvent(Object key, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEventInteractive(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEvent(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) And it doesn't save the settings(quick extract folder, opened files history.) Sorry, it works now. Don't know why it didn't work the last time. Edited January 15, 2007 by SteaVor
REspawn
So everything is working now? Just in case i added an extra layer of file checking, same download location: http://www.turnipfan.com/downloads/G-IMG.rar Thanks, -Dave
SteaVor
Yes, everything is working with the latest version. Only one crash so far: If you didn't flag any file, it crashes on clicking 'Unflag All'. If at least one object is flagged, it works fine.

SteaVor
Your quick and helpful responses are really great! The latest version is really stable, everything I tested worked fine (and I think I pretty much tested every single function with pretty much every possible argument), and I found only one issue and I don't quite know where it belongs to: Selecting more than one txd to 'View' leads to several instances of G-TXD being started (2 files selected --> 2 instances; 5 files --> 5 instances and so on) and all but the first instance are then shut down by Dr. Watson ('G-TXD encountered a problem...'). That's really the only problem that I could find. When do you plan to re-enable the sorting function? Edited January 15, 2007 by SteaVor
REspawn
It works both ways you find the things i missed, so thanks to you to. Yea i will re-enable sorting in a future release, at the moment the archive handeling side of the app is stable enough to pile the other components ontop of without fear of problems, so that what im working on at the moment. Its kina a weird time management style development process.

Justin
Finally got it to work after downloading both .NET Framework and the DirectX runtimes. This is super good. I've used the export map function to easily obtain a colour... well, 'map' of VC. I'm thinking of using this to create my own map of rampages, etc. Thanks! These G-Tools are really intuitive. When I get some more spare time I'm planning on venturing further into the modding scene and I'm sure these will come in handy. Excellent work and a well-produced tool. PS: I don't know if you get Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on TV over there, but "G-Dar" is awfully similar to "gay-dar" which is horribly reminiscent of the show. Unfortunate link right there.
