G-Tools

G-Tools is a collection of tools and editors capable of editing the contents of all currently release pc versions of Grand Theft Auto.

Each tool will work independent of its sister applications or in some cases together to allow the user to move between content with ease.

Prerequisites

As with any software you want to use certain things must first be present on your PC. G-Tools is no different. You must have the .net framework 2.0 and Managed DirectX runtimes installed, below are links to both these items, both are 100% free.

G-IMG
	G-IMG Is an editor for the .img archives used by GTA to store the majority of the games files. G-TXD

G-CYC
	G-CYC is a time cycle editor, it is currently in pre-beta stage and is availale for testing below. Features to come: 3d preview with sun, cloud and weather preview as well as color transtion tools.

This looks very nice . I've always generally used IMG Tool, but from the brief geez I just had of this, it looks as though your G-IMG has more features which could come in handy.

 

I'm also anticipating the release of the rest of your G-Tools - they all sound excellent (especially G-Map). Keep up the good work .

Ah, I knew you'd get this released soon. As I said on your site when you first announced them, I think all the G-Tools are going to make Modding History and change the way we mod.

timecycle.dat editor is still under construction, im planning on releasing a tool every week I think, this firday is G-IMG, during the week we have the update program and next friday it will be the radar editor.

After that I will be using the update program to distribute new programs, updates, tutorials and language files.

 

So expect more info soon,

Very nice tool overall, i've noticed only a few minor quibbles.

 

Bugs/Oddities: in the File / Information for the current IMG, i think you got the Versions mixed up; SA img files come up as version 1, and gta3/vc img files come up as version 2. isn't it the other way around?

 

If the main window is resized, the listbox isn't;

 

 

Tools: If you have any features or tools you would like to see included please let me know

Well, if you could add a 3rd column in the listbox to display the offset of the file in the img, that would be nice. it would also be neat to click where it says "File" or "Size" (or "offset" if you add it) in the listbox, and have it sort the list (so clicking "File" would sort the list alphabetically a-z, or z-a if its already alphabetized). A minor, but intuitive feature.

Some suggest: a txd viewer can be cool, if you're searching for a texture but you don't know the exact name you can see the textures. Also a model viewer... but bleh. Also in colors, it says color line one, color line one. isn't it color line one and color line two?

You have to convert the text file to unicode. Probably need another text editor than Windows' for that though (although they might have added that to Vista's, just try).
