88survivor
It's kind of neat to know that even though the Playstation years before PS2 had both known or unknown singers that you never heard from at all, however, I was always surprised at who are the arrangers or instrumentalist behind the whole thing. Such as Castlevania: Symphony of The Night ending song theme: "I Am The Wind" by Cynthia Harrell... I was surprised at the credits because some of them are well known musicians such as Jeff Lorber and talented pure 80s saxonphonist Gerald Albright. Man, some things you don't know yet, but found later on...amazing. Plus, it always seem that in the late 90s that a lot of Rob Zombie songs appeared in racing car and Twisted Metal video games.....I mean, I seem to hear Dragula everywhere I play a game on the PS. Totally weird, not to mention he composed a soundtrack for Nightmare Creatures II. Weird...what a small world. Plus, I think Grand Theft Auto(original) had 70s funk, dance music, and typical techno music, correct? Though that is so long ago...I wish I had that game with a soundtrack listing. vALKYR
I remember Poets of the Fall with Late Goodbye in Max Payne, they had an Album in some kind of a top 100 later on. It ain't bad music.
Mark
The Gran Turismo series has always had well known artists playing for it, such as the Chemical Brothers and Garbage. Wipeout for that matter too.
a_fool_from_edinburgh
Have to say that NFS: MostWanted had a cracking soundtrack, Drum and Bass, Techno and Heavy Metal! What more could you want! (some hardcore would've been nice) Didn't rate the hiphop stuff for the menus though. Speaking of Hardcore some of the stations in GTA3 were brilliant and had hardcore esque music, but more techno/dance style. All that original music was great though. Mark
Aye but it didn't quite cut the mustard. I agree, videogames need more Hardcore. Hixxy, Dougal, Neophyte etc ftw
thyzza
I was pleasantly surprised to hear Starsailor at the end of Metal Gear Solid 3.
88survivor
True, but I always amazed at how many times I can another Rob Zombie track in a race car or total mayhem car games like Twisted Metal. I especially love the Indigo Prophecy soundtrack(really fits the mood of the game itself), including the Mafia soudntrack featuring a bunch of 1930s tunes. Black-hawk
True Crime LA had an interesting soundtrack, I liked it a lot. Mainly the rock/pop punk stuff. Obviously Vrock counts too, come on, they had Iron Maiden on the air.

fox09
Prey - Don't Fear The Reaper. Classic That part gave me goosebumps. When the aliens started tearing apart the bar, and all of a sudden that song came on. It seemed oddly appropriate.
88survivor
Actually, Stephen King describing Blue Oyster Cult's song "Don't Fear The Reaper" really is startling. Interesting to say as a matter of fact.

88survivor
Really? I thought that VC had the best soundtrack selection ever.
Crokey
I remember Poets of the Fall with Late Goodbye in Max Payne, they had an Album in some kind of a top 100 later on. It ain't bad music. Poets of the Fall are a great band, although it's awkward to get hold of their albums in the UK, Signs of Life the album which has got Late Goodbye on it is a fantastic album, not only for Late Goodbye, but it has an absolutey great song on it called Sleep I wouldn't be surprised though if we see more bands doing soundtracks for games, because they are more popular than ever before
