Boarding An Airliner

Check this out! There's a way you can press TRIANGLE and enter those jumbo jets taking off at the airport!

 

 

You can only do this with the ones taking off and landing. The parked ones are just scenery.

 

First, use Super Jump to get on the wing. Without CheatDevice, I guess you'd have to park something in its path and jump on, or land a helicopter on it. The door to enter the plane is right at the back edge of the wing, but if you just press triangle and let Vic walk on his own, he'll walk off the wing, so what you have to do is walk towards that spot while constantly tapping triangle. You can see about where it is in my video.

 

Once you're in, the plane continues to fly itself on its preprogrammed course. You don't control it; you're a passenger. You can't exit the plane, so you have to reload your gamesave to get out.

 

I only used VCS CheatDevice super jump to get on the wing easily and infinite health. In theory, it might be possible to do this without CheatDevice. It would be a lot harder to get on the wing, and I think you lose health from touching the wing, but if you can get there, there's nothing stopping you.

 

I first noticed this possibility when I pressed triangle while standing on top of a plane and Vic started walking around in a circle trying to find the entrance. It took me a while to figure out where you could enter the plane. I tested this in LCS and triangle had no effect.

 

Update:

- People have confirmed that this can be done without CheatDevice. Touching the body of the plane or the back of the wing seems to be where you lose health, but standing on the wing is OK.

- You can exit the plane once it lands.

I don't know if R* meant this as a hidden surprise to be found like the helicopter you could steal in LCS during a mission if you drove a motorcycle up the stairs, or if they just wanted to make it solid and didn't think about whether it becomes enterable. I was more expecting it to crash when I entered it, maybe needing a no-doors flag at least.

Interesting. THAT was the ID that crashed when putting it in the garage!

 

Maybe someone can make a "pimp my plane"? I there could atleast be added a stair for getting inside.

Great find mate. Now VCS got it's own AT-400 plane. Maybe there ment to be a flight around the city (like flight to other city in SA) for some money, but rockstar took it out in last second. Could be, that it suppose to be used in Leo Teal mission, first you get in the plane, kill everybody and then land on the ground with auto pilot.

I'll see if I can find a way to remove it from it's pre-programmed path...

 

the plane model is #280, you cant spawn one, or put on in the garage.

but now that I know it's 280, I can go into the planes default.ide file and see what I can change, maybe there is somethign in there that tells it to follow the pre-determined path.

Just to clarrify, this will not be possible for anyone not using the Cheat Device.

 

I'm running on fw 2.81, so anyone using firmware higher than.. Well, 2.81, this applys to you. I jumped on the wing, got wasted instantly. Without infinate health, you're not going to be able to do this.

 

Nice find though, maybe it was featured in one of the cut missions.

It works! And I don't use cheatdevice. Just drive a bulldozer ahead of the plane, jump on top, and jump on the wing. I guess I got lucky b/c I got in the plane instantly.

I managed it without CD, too. Take a look at Vic in

clip, from the inside view, it looks as if he's being subjected to g-force.

maybe you can look for a dodo file and replace the skin and frame with the airliner and change some movements.

Cool, excellent discovery EC. I wonder if this would have ever been found without the cheat master at work... Hmmm, well it'll be very interesting to see what possibilities this uncovers.

"Just to clarrify"... you don't need the cheat device to get on the wing, climb on an ambulance or dozer then jump. You don't need infinite health, walking on the wing doesn't kill you unless you trip into the fuselage or other bad part. And yes, you can exit the plane. Not in mid-air but you can while landing.
