sanandreasrocks
I've just installed my SA just last night, and it crashes with the "encountered a problem and needs to close" bull**** after it goes to the San Andreas screen, that has all the people caricatures on it. That screen shows up for a few seconds, fades out, and that's when the game errors out back to desktop. It doesn't cause anyting else to hang, and the crash happens exactly the same way every time. I tried clearing some more room on my HD to allow for swapping and whatever else the game may need, but no luck. I've tried every single fix on here from similar posts: reinstalling, deleting temp files, updating to most recent drivers for my sound and vid cards, uninstalling the gta_sa.set file (which I can't do cuz it's not there since I haven't started a new game yet due to this error), and every other fix I've found, which there's not many of! LOL This includes deleting that Microsoft Update KB-whatever it was, and also trying the "Run As" thing. Nothing. So the question is, has anyone had this same crash right at about the same place that I have, that has found a fix not as yet mentioned? I really would like to play this game, but it's seeming that at this rate, I may never get the chance. morsolo
This fix has a simple, yet (possibly) expensive solution! What Graphics Card are you running? San Andreas does NOT support anything other than nVidia, but that does not mean that if you don't have nVidia you can't play... I usally see this problem due to Graphics Cards, I have a 256 GeForce 7600 (Getting 512 soon) GFX card, and I have no problems! However, my other PC runs on standard Intel GFX (64mb, which is MINIMUM), and it does not run... I also see people SOLVE this prblem by buying a new Graphics card, and like the opening scene's say when you start the game: nVidia, The way it's meant to be played! DAM STRAIGHT! jarjar
Well then this is definitely an odd occurrence. Lets start with the silly questions first, you do have a computer with the specs to play the game don't you?
sanandreasrocks
Well my card IS Nvidia, a 128 meg card. I'm not sure of all the other stats of it though; it was given to me. As for my computer specs: 1 GHz AMD Duron 256 megs 20 gig HD Win XP SP2 (with all updates installed) Not sure what other specs to mention! So yea, according to the minimums listed on the back of the game box, I should be able to run it. It ran GTA 3 and Vice City just fine, so it should be able to do this I would think... I would like to remove ur illusion........ San Andreas runs fine even on default Intel Onborad Cards...... Its just that Rockstar recommends Nvidia..... It doesn't mean that other graphics cards wont runt the game...... BTW if I'm not mistaken there is a no- intro fix or something like that on this site Correct me if I'm wrong !!!!! I'm not sure but it might help.... Edited December 13, 2006 by San Anzeas

morsolo
Lol, ok then The Graphics Card you mentioned was A LOT like my old one, so it should be running... Although, 128mb GPU's still aren't that good (You can still run the game fine...) MY 128mb overheated and burnt out Anyway, it could be certain things...Have you installed a no-cd *cough* patch? These can cause it, but that's all i'm saying, because you're not allowed to talk about them... Other than that, the stupid error is a mystery

Well no I don't have a no-cd patch; I was actually LOOKING for one earlier, thinking that the DVD had something to do with the problem. Unfortunately I've been unable to find any. And THANKS for your support, Mr. Otherwise the stupid error is a mystery. LOL!
morsolo
Lol, I didn't mean the "Otherwise, the stupid error is a mystery" in a bad way I meant "Stupid" because I had it on my old PC... I know how you feel... Or did you actually mean thanks? You can't READ sarcasm

Anyways, hopefully from this point forward no one will reply unless they have a SOLUTION I can try! LOL I'm going to email Take2 tech support in the meantime, and if they can't give me any workable ideas on how to fix it besides getting a new vid card (which I can't afford by the way) then I'm just gonna have to sell the game back or exchange it, or something. It's worthless if I can't use it. And the most ironic thing is, I bought a brand new DVD drive to play the damn thing! LOL It was only 25 bucks total including shipping, but still.
