tin23uk
just wondering if someone could help me out, i had san andreas working without any problems until i formatted my pc, then when i installed it again it was all in slow motion, i tried a few things to fix it then decided a fresh install might solve the problem. as far as im aware it all uninstallled fine but while i was installing it again the pc crashed. im guessing i got an incomplete install because the game wouldnt play (kept getting the encountered an error and had to close msg) when i tried to uninstall it kept giving me the following msg, >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (469) PAPP:Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PVENDOR:Rockstar Games (http://www.rockstargames.com/) PGUID:D417C96A-FCC7-4590-A1BB-FAF73FBC98E $10.50.0.125 @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600 IE 7.0.5730.11 in the end after a reboot it would let me delete the rocktar games folder from C:/program files/ and i deleted the game data folder from my documents then i ran a registry cleaner and rebooted. but still when i put the disc in i only get the option of play san andreas it will not let me install the game, im guessing it still thinks the game is installed somewhere. when i use the unistall option from the disc menu i get the same error msg as above. someone help i miss CJ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/262743-cant-get-rid-of-an-old-install/ Share on other sites
gillies
You could try looking for the uninstall thing which may have been left behind. It is found in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ and if you don't see its name in the list of folders it will probably be one of the big strings in {} at the top, go through them all looking at the names of the values inside to find out which one and when you find it right click and delete the whole thing.
