HUEY HOG
Is there a way I change the speed of the rotor on any of the helicopters? I want the rotors on the helicopters to spin faster so it looks more real. Also is it possible to add a search light to a helicopter? When the police mav is chasing you at night it has a spotlight. I would like this to add this to other helicopters.
Mark
Afaik, the spotlight is coded into the main.scm via opcodes, as is the fact that the heli follows you. Only thing I can think of is using vertex colouring for the actual light object, then using 2DFX for light beam. Dunno how successful that'd be tho. As for rotor speeds..Not a clue how they work. I'd guess that they're some form of animated image. Link for the 2DFX stuff tho. Edited December 12, 2006 by GTAuron
DexX
rotor speeds are entirely hard coded. for the spotlights, the one police chopper spotlight is hardcoded as far as i know, but you can add one thats exactly the same, or better, entirely through mission scripting. there is NO model editing necessary to attach a working spotlight to a helicopter, or any vehicle actually. Mark
Sweet. What does the light try to follow though? Or can you code it to just look straight down?
DexX
where the light points is entirely up to the coder, but you can ponit it at pretty much anything you want, any time you want; objects, actors, vehicles, anything thats in the script. If you want to point it striaght down you can do that too. just create a coordinate thats consistenly below the helicopter, and point the light at that coord. HUEY HOG
I want to move the spotlight on the Polmav and I've tried playing with the model/dummys but nothing happens it just stays in the same spot. I know its hardcoded but why is it on a differnt spot on my model?
DexX
the position is hardcoded to be "X units" away from the origin of the model. That same "X Units" on teh police chopper will almost certianly be a different spot on your model.
Mark
Hmm.. then in order to move it, would it be possible to move the model, complete with it's collision etc a bit, then just edit the offseted handling issue by changing the c of g?
