I think that is very impressive the CV and the typography video, great job.

 

The CV looks great, better than the last one and can't give much feedback on it. There's still that spelling error in there!

 

Last thing to do is get that printed so pick a nice place and take a look at their stocks and find the most suitable one. Just remember to add bleed (typically 3mm) to the Hi res PDF for the printers and you should be good.

What tablet would you guys recommend for a first time user? Looking to get into comics/drawing and that sort of thing.

What's your budget ? Ive got an Intuos 4 (A4) and its absolutely awesome. I only use my mouse for gaming now.

 

I'd say go for a Wacom because there quality and you can't go wrong. I will say though, and I am sure you have it, patiences is require. Don't expect to be able to do what you can do by hand straight the way as it takes time to get used to. However now after a good 3 years of use I can easily do far better on the tablet then I can do by hand

Bamboo Wacom tablets are good and range from £40-£80. Real good and real cheap for the quality you get.

Don't be ashamed of using templates man, they are there for a reason. You'd be suprised how many 'proffesionals' start a piece of work from a previously made template. I regularly swap my templates with my peers templates to learn techniques I wouldn't otherwise know.

 

The logo and intro is nice man!

I like the intro, the logo could use some work, but I do like the cartoon'ish effect of the font. Maybe add a slight emboss or pillow to the text to give a "molded" look. Just my opinion, nice work.

Type of bevel.. You have Outer Bevel, Inner Bevel, Emboss, Pillow Emboss, Stroke Emboss. Play around with those alittle next time you add some text do a more solid background.. see what you like or come up with.

Is there any other way to to edit the bounding box of text whilst editing the text itself?

However to do this in Photoshop I have to rasterize the text layer and thus no longer becomes vectors and turns out sh*tty.

Right click on the text layer->Convert to Shape, that way you can transform the text without impacting the quality.

You have to think about it though because all the twitter stuff will be on the page too. Plus my friend was right besides me when I made it and that's exactly what he wanted.

Ahh man that seems so so obvious now. I was actually searching covert to shape/smart object in Illustrator and InDesign and was wondering why it wasn't there haha, thanks Narcis.

 

EDIT: I actually did by this as I found the features I was looking for. I converted the text to a work path then edited the work path to my liking. Then I exported the psd document as work paths to Illustrator then simply copy pasted to InDesign. I'd really like for the programs to work more interchangeably. It's for my portfolio assessment for college, I'll post a page or two once I'm done.

Looks great Whiskey, but I would suggest you remove that blue star on the persons chest. It doesn't blend very well. But other than that, flawless.
