but how do you add stars?

Go onto Google and search for 'Photoshop Star Brushes' and just have a look around.

Download a brush set you like then install the brushes. icon14.gif

Hey guys, I just made this for the cover of my CV booklet (for a film production company) and I would really like some feedback. Also don't be sending sh*t to my house or ringing me...

Now that's pretty damn tight, bro.

I would suggest different colors (only my opinion), but the overall concept is amazing. Nice work.

I like the logo Double L, very simple yet somewhat powerful.

I made a custom Vice City logo also.

Looks much better. Here is a few pointers as well you might want to watch out for, especially for the style your trying to accomplish. With your email and road address it looks like you have stretched the font inwards in order to fit in the invisible square with the other text, if that makes sense. Instead of stretching it, make the font smaller, it will look more proffesional.

The below image is something I think you're trying to achieve in terms of typography, see how making the text smaller and making it fit rather than stretching it, works more on the proffesional level.

Typography Example

Other than that the style is good. You just need to enhance the type a bit more, making sure it doesn't go out of the boundaries of the invisible box that you are trying to achieve. A great tool for this in Photoshop (if you're using that) is instead of clicking and typing, drag the text tool to create a box, that way the text will dissapear if it is too big. It will hugely improve what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks man, I made the text smaller in font size rather then squishing and it looks great. I usually do use the type-square however for this I had to make a curved handle so I just did it freely, lazy yes but I am happy with it haha

Sorry to continue the CV theme but I just want to make sure its the best it can be so heres page 2. Again all suggestions welcome

Please excuse the prick in the corner. Also the speech bubble idea is a placeholder, if anyone has any better idea a text container please say so.

Deeper, from an artistic and modern feel, I would swap the two. Place your skills, etc info inside of the box, and place your bio info inside of the splatter.

(If you're confused, here's an example;)

user posted image

Reason I would, is because you're Bio almost is as if you're truly speaking, and the bubble would emphasize a speaking "action" perse, like a comic, thought bubble, etc. The box represents an object that contains something, like kids it can hold toys, for adults, sentimental things and for you, your skills & talents. icon14.gif

Either way, it looks good, like what you did. Keep up the good work!

Don't use your decorative text as your body text - looks cool I know but it contains important info so it should be as legible as possible. It doesn't really distinguish it from your other details beside the quantity of words and its tracking makes it appear very cramped. I suggest I cleaner geometric sans-serif typeface such as Avenir, Futura or if you got cash get Gotham or Graphik, do not use Century Gothic it's probably the most geometric typeface based on circles - looks great but not as body text.

I disagree with GunWrath, the speech bubble idea is good as your copy seems as you're actually talking to your employer/client/audience and you can get flashy with your skills. I recommend this more as a box provides a clear reading area for the amount of text you have there and the the flashy splat graphic should be the focus, "This is who I am, this is what I can do." I suggest a rounded rectangle speech bubble or get some complimentary repetitions by having angled sides, much like your logo name text square. Also make the box larger around the edges to allow more whitespace for the viewer to read, what you have now it's very cramped and the text itself nearly touches the edges. Do not hyphenate the text as seen in "Determi-nation", most forms of print don't do hyphenation as it breaks up the text and is harder to read and only used in space saving measures like in newspaper articles and some novels. You also misspelt "Through" as "trough dedication" on the last line.

Your contact details are squashed horizontally and look bad and you should use a typeface that support all characters used, the '@' does not look like its from that font you used for the email address. I suggest you don't use that typeface and use the body typeface to not overcomplicate the design with too many typefaces. Size, Weight, Position and Formatting is what you should use on text to differentiate information instead of adding new ones. The list items under your skill headings are too close and you should increase the leading. You are also missing a capital I on Illustrator.

Don't mean to sound like a douche or anything but I'm nearly completed my studies on graphic design in college so I know my stuff.

Wow thanks man for the time. I have sorted the squashed contact details, it was something that caught my eye as well. I'll have sorted out the text box as well, not just bland black anymore but I decided to retain the speech bubble.

@GunWrath thanks for your thoughts man and you make a great point but I am going to retain the solid shape for the speech bit simply because when I interchanged them it looked better to keep a solid colour behind the intro text.

It's looking good. This anaglyph effect really add a nice effect.

You should just "vectorize" - I don't know if it's the right word - properly the face (you used the Posterize effect, right? But it's great. wink.gif

That looks real cool Double L, the tiniest nitpick but on your 'UFLL' you could remove the 'shine/glare' of the text off the outer glow? It just doesn't 'logically' make sense but excellent work on the edges and transparency of the flame tips.

Plain, simple and proffesional. Move the head down a bit so its more aligned with the text to the left.

And maybe Graphic Designer rather than Graphics Design, other than that it's perfect to me. Real eye catching.

Thanks. Yes i agree with you, i should remove the glow and white edge. And the flame, i tried make realictic, so i drop outer glow. I made some bad things in the second work. smile.gif

And i made. This work is amazing in my opinion. It was hard. But it's done. First photo is original. I try a few effect in second photo. turn.gif
