how to mission code a teleport

i have looking all around to find a tutorial to make a teleport like from

 

-342.2 -591.5  36.9

 to

-1171.0 -457.4  10.7

but cant find it sp please help me sad.gifsad.gif

This should do the trick. I'm still not that far advanced myself, so this may be a bit sloppy, but otherwise it will hopefully help you out. This (using your coordinates) teleports you from the roof of Vercetti Mansion to Little

Havana. Just walk into the pink marker and 'poof', there you go. biggrin.gif

How I do it:

1) First of all I would get the coordinates that I want to warp 'from' as you have. Then I would create a checkpoint (the pink marker) at these coordinates so you can easily find your starting warp point in the game.

 

0189: $Teleport_From_Here = unknown create checkpoint at  -342.2 -591.5  36.9

 

 

2) Next, you need to check to see if the player is near the marker. The Opcode that you use depends on what you want to happen. (player near point on foot OR in car, etc.) Just look through the Opcode list to find the one you want to use. I used 'near point on foot' because you probably won't be driving a car on top of the Vercetti Mansion.

 

00D6: if  000F6:   player $PLAYER_CHAR  0 ()near point on foot -342.2 -591.5  36.9 radius  1.4  1.8  1.5 

 

 

3) If the player is NOT near the marker, you will want to make the code jump back to the begining and keep checking until the player does go to the marker.

 

004D: jump_if_false ££Teleport

 

 

4) If the player IS near the marker then you tell the game where you would like for the player to be moved to.

 

0055: put player $PLAYER_CHAR at  -1171.0 -457.4  10.7

 

 

5) After you tell the game where to put your character, have the code jump back to the start so you can use the warp again when it is needed.

 

0002: jump ££Teleport 

 

 

I don't know of any tutorial explaining teleporting, but one thing that may help out is a beginer's tutorial written by Y_Less back in 2004 or so. It explains some basic things, including using markers to trigger things like spawning vehicles etc., which helped me understand a few things and may help you too. Alex "Y_Less" Cole's n00b guide to coding Look at "4. Marker points" for help on using markers.

 

 

 

I don't know how much help I've been, but once you experiment with 'teleporting' it should become a bit easier. Good luck. xmas.gif

:NameIt

 

The first word:NameIt is simply what I named that label. I could have used any name, but I usually use :NameIt because it is easy for me to remember.

 

03A4: name_thread "Warp"

 

The word "Warp" is the word that I used to describe what this mod does. If I wrote a mod that made my life points begin to increase until my wounds were healed, I could name my thread "Heal" .You do not have to name your thread, but I do because it makes it easier when I have more than one mod added to my game. This way I can more easily find any mistakes caused by a certain mod, or make it easier to remove a mod that I no longer wish to have in my game. It's just a personal choice, but for me it helps.

 

Help me.....? were to put the codes......?

Sorry that I was not more clear when giving instructions. This is very simple to install.

 

 

 

1) Put this with the other Create_threads

 

004F: create thread ££NameIt"

 

 

2) Put this code just above ----Mission 0----

This code teleports you only one way. From the roof of the Vercetti Mansion to Little Havanah(I think). You can create many teleports in the city or you can even make a code so that you can press a button and teleport from anywhere to a certain spot like to a weapons store or a save point, or where ever you wish.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Try to be more specific like "I want the red radar icon to disappear after I use the teleport". Or since you already know where to teleport from you could tell me "I don't need the red radar icon at all".

 

This is what creates the red radar icon

 

0189: $Teleport_From_Here = unknown create checkpoint at  -342.2 -591.5  36.9

 

If you want the red radar icon to disappear after you teleport, then use this

 

0164: disable_marker $Teleport_From_Here

 

Your code would then look like this

But, if you don't need the red radar icon at all then just remove

Just in case that you may not already know, this code will teleport you everytime that you go to the roof of the Vercetti Mansion. If you want to use the teleport many times then your code is correct. But, if you want to use the teleport only once, then you should replace

 

0002: jump ££Teleport

 

with

 

004E: end thread

 

This will stop the Teleport thread so that it no longer works. But when you ask something, try to give more detail so it will be easier to know what you want to be done. See ya. smile.gif

I had more trouble understanding your words because it was one long sentence. If I understood correctly what you said was

 

The radar icon disappears. That's great but the red sphere marker does also. That's a problem. When I walk there where the sphere marker was I teleport but the sphere marker is not there. I need there to be a red sphere marker there.

Do you want the red sphere to be on the roof but do not want the radar icon? If this is correct, then try this.

 

Replace

 

0189: $Teleport_From_Here = unknown create checkpoint at  -342.2 -591.5  36.9

 

with this

 

03BC:  $Teleport_From_Here = create sphere  -342.2 -591.5  36.9  2.0 

 

Your code should now look like this

This will make a red sphere on the roof, but will not make a radar icon.

 

 

If you would like to change the size of the red sphere then change the number that is red.

 

:Marker

If you change it to .75 the sphere will be very small. Or if you change it to 3.0 it will be much larger. You can change the sphere to any size you like.

Do you want a marker above your car? OR do you want a marker to teleport your car?

I've tested the code again and it works in my game. Maybe part of the code was misplaced or moved when you added it to your game. Try to 'copy and paste' the code into your game just as it is here. If it still does not work, remove it and then put it in again. Make sure that no #'s are missing. And make sure that there are spaces between the #'s where there should be. It should work.

oops... I've tried to do this: You enter the m,arker and you get teeleported next to the other noe, but the 2nd marker doesn't teleport nor show up! what the hell happened?

@vinny: It looks like you're trying to have a second thread there, but didn't do the second create_thread code.

 

Here's a simplified version of KN's code, but with two markers. (not tested, but feel free to try it out biggrin.gif )

For road type checkpoints, have a look in "The Driver" mission for 024F.

OK... sorry for posting twice!

 

That worked fine to me, but how do i make a Fade to black, like entering interiors? Because when I enter the sphere, it moves the camera rapidly(showing the city)to the other positon... it sucks that would... i'll try to search in other codes to make it fade, so it doesn1't shows the camera flying to the other position(like midnight club 3 menus)...

Perhaps you should atleast try to search the original script for the simple word fade? confused.gif

Also, you could search the opcode database.
