GM Dude
What should I buy? I'll also need to find an insurance company I can trust, so I can avoid getting whacked with massive fines. Also, one other question: In many U.S. states, it is illegal not to have insurance. Do you think those laws should be repealed, to give lower-income drivers a break? {Of course, in that case, I think you should still be allowed to buy insurance if you wanted to!!!!!!} I know I certainly do. uzer
Do you think those laws should be repealed, to give lower-income drivers a break? HELL NO. Christ, are you retarded? What're you going to do when you mad tyte drift your $1100 POS into an $80,000 Mercedes? Insurance is a bitch, I'm paying $6400/yr with a clean record, but that doesn't mean that it's not necessary. Good lucking buying a car AND paying insurance with only 3k, since I'm assuming you're pretty young. I had to bust my ass working from age 12 to 18 in order to afford my truck and the insuance. Couldn't buy any car I wanted because insurance would've been too much.

And I'm just saying that you shouldn't be punished for not being able to afford it{But, if you can afford it, and are too lazy to get it, that's definitely a different story}. In those states, they do have some rather harsh penalties for that, you know{Probably doesn't matter whether is was your fault or not}. I'm just saying that we should give those that make less than $12,000 a year a break, since most people in that monetary range have to pay for other things like housing, food, shelter, and other things. And a lot of people younger than 18 don't even make $4,000 a year. Like I said, if you can afford it, then by all means, get it. btw, what do you drive?? uzer
At 16, you're going to be paying more for insurance in a year, year and a half if lucky, than you will for your car. There's a reason liability insurance is mandatory. Insurance makes things affordable, as you sure as hell can't afford to pay for what you damage when you crash into something, or somebody. How would you feel if an uninsured driver crashed into your car, or ran off the road into your house, and then YOU were stuck with the cost? He means if you only have $3000, you're going to have a f*cking hard time buying a car, as well as paying your insurance premium. I work and go to high-school full time, yet manage to rake in close to $10,000 a year. Working for $7.25 an hour. Like hell most people under 18 don't make more than $4000, providing they work. You can't use people who don't have jobs in that example. Oh, and I'm 16 by the way. Damn, too slow. And if it's not out of my place to say, I believe uzer drives a Jeep Cherokee. GM Dude
Don't give him ideas. LOL. I was considering buying an older car, like an Oldsmobile, a Ford, or even a Nissan or Subaru{I'll try to stay away from the Olds diesels, though}. But which of those is the best make overall, in terms of reliability, fun to drive, fuel economy, and safety????
silvermanblue
oldsmobile by far (well any gm) You should be able to pick up a pretty sweet delta 88 or 98 fo that change Leone Family Mafia ПРОПАГАНДА.ИНЦ, СИЛВЕРМАНБЛУЕ
Black-hawk
Do the sell these in the US? It's a 1996 Ford Scorpio. Incredibly comfortable and costs 2k Euro which is about 2.6k$? Or get a 1990-93 Jeep Cherokee, they are dirt cheap, reliable as f*ck and repairs are also cheap. Though an SUV in the hands of a 16 year old is something that I do not wish to witness. How about a 1995 Civic? Just don't rice it. Or a 1997 Hyundai Sonata (Costs 2.8$k over here so prices may differ where you live) Also I hate uzer for driving something I love yet do not have. SeaNorris.
Old Volvo. What about an old VW Bug?? Well if you're like what you are here behind the wheel you're going to need a whole lot of metal infront of you to protect you, Volvo will, Beetle won't. Mafia Righthand_Man
I've had an Acura Legend for closing in on 2 years now and it's been a great car to me. They're a bit more expensive than most used cars, but if you can cough up some extra money, or save up some more, it's worth it. Mine's been great to me. I've only had some problems with the body, though only the tint had problems on it's own. It's got around 94,000 miles on it, and it runs great. *gta star*
As user_errors has been saying, old Volvo's are a good bet or what Black-hawk has posted. They are a big car, long and reasonably wide aswell. This means that you'll have plenty of comfort in the car itself and plenty of room for passengers. But which of those is the best make overall, in terms of reliability, fun to drive, fuel economy, and safety???? The Volvo will cover two of those; Safety and Reliability. They aren't the best cars on fuel and they aren't the most fun of cars to drive because they are a big saloon or estate even, with big engines and they are heavy. However, really there isn't really a way of distinguishing which is the best out of the above four factors (Reliability, fun to drive, fuel economy and safety) because it depends what you want. Some people want Safety and Reliability, so they buy a Merc, a Volvo or a BMW. Some people don't give a sh*t about either of them and want to have something that is fun to drive, so they buy a Subaru or a Mitsubishi Evolution, so that is something that you're going to have to think about and then we can give you more advice. lurchseesu420
Old Volvo. What about an old VW Bug?? do it! i drive a 73 super beetle. its not fast but it handles great, is easy to park, gets great gas mileage, is pretty damn reliable, parts are easy to find, insurence is cheap, simple to work on yourself, and its easy to modify and fix up without breaking the bank. plus they really arent all that slow when comparted to some of the sh*t from the late 70s and 80s. most have plenty of passing power. really mine has been alot of fun. rust is a problem though. but for 3 grand you should find one with very minor rust .maybe even rust free. the best thing about them though is all the thing that aren't there to break. your power steering will never go out. you will never loose a break booster. youll never get a hole in your radiator. obviously because you have none of these. the one thing thats bad about them is winter driving. the heaters f*cking suck! the heater is just the fan pushing hot air from a heat extractor inside a heat shield. if you ever put a performance exhaust on it, most dont have the j tubes and all the sh*t you need for the heater. so in the winter invest in some long johns. but theyre great fun to toss around. theyre extremely reliable if mantained correctly (regular valve jobs and oil changes). they take some getting used to. to stop you have to rely on the gear box. 4 wheel drums with no power assist sucks. but thats not realy that much of a problem once you get used to it. oh and seanorris head on collisions for beetles aren't great, but there not bad for cars of that era. no engine in front of you means they have a huge crumple zone to absorb the impact of a crash. oh if your into off roading go for a regular beetle. with the adjustable torision bars you can raise the thing sever inches and put some offroad tires on it. if your into lowered cars go for a superbeetle. you can drop the fron nearly 5 inches with som MAX lowering struts. by the way i'm 17 and my beetle is my first car. i wouldn't trade it for the world. i sure as hell wouldnt want some honda civic or some sh*t like that. i like a cool car that stands out from the rest. or of course you could buy a yugo and rice it out instead. put a big sub in it. some spinners. hydraulics. and nos of course. and a carbon fiber wing and hood. also needs scizzor doors. it would be the coolest yugo ever. then you would get all the bitches and hoes.
