ronlivings08
After importing to ZModeler 1(You must by 2 to have the importability), tere should be two noeds where you see the headlights and exhaust, and named respectively. Simply go to Modify>Move, and move them to wherever you want them. Note:The "headlights" node only move the glow of the headlights. The actual part lit up as the headlight is textured, and requires a little more skill. Search for a tut on Textureing/Mapping for more help there. thepcdude
HAHAHA, Zmodeler is cheap! My opinion though. 3ds max is for serious vehicle modders. And if u get kam's scripts, u have everything you'll ever need for model editing in GTA PC games. The little box (a dummy:in 3ds max it is an invisible marker sorta) that is selected (white) is the tailights dummy. Move it however you like. carcols.dat
Is moving the nodes possible with the police car lights? Or are they craptasticlly hard-coded in by R* ....

I have seen plenty of Zmod models that put most max game cars to shame. Max is faster to model in, but Zmod can produce just as good models. Not to mention I don't have the money around and refuse Warez to use such programs. Also, to actually move headlights fully, your method is not complete, and is the exact same way ron described. Apart from a few export script bugs, I see no benefit to max if you can already model well enough in Zmod.
Picolini
I have seen plenty of Zmod models that put most max game cars to shame. Exactly. As for moving the light dummies, you might also want to change the size (if this is for SA). This can be done in the handling.cfg, if you get Cerbera's CFG Studio it's just a few clicks, http://projectcerbera.com/ Get it there. Then in his tutorials section there is a definition of a lot of the SA handling stats. But when you open up your handling.cfg in the program from his site, just go to the vehicle you need to change the lights size for and scroll all the way to the right. You'll see the boxes for head lights and tail lights, and there are sizes like long rectangle, square, etc etc. This helps a make the vehicles headlights fit perfectly
