deltadude
I was wondering if there is a way to set the car the player is in to a var so other cars can chase it. eg. Guy attacks CJ, then if CJ gets into a car the attacker gets into a car and follows. I can do the attack, detect if CJ is driving and follow, its just i need to set the actor to chase the car CJ is in. Sorry if this has already been posted because my searches turned up nothing, same with searching the scm. Thanks. Edit : Thanks for the answer, sorry for being so stupid. MGM12188
I may be wrong so if anybody notices something incorrect, please fix. But, there should be a specific op code for that function; There is no need for a variable, unless you run into a situation that requires one. You could make many things into variables, i guess (if it need s one it will probably look like --below. I would try to find a function that will (chase) cj instead... If it needs a variable it may look like this: (Actor...) = @1 (Cj's Vehicle...) = @2 Set actor(local @1/global $) follow/chase/kill cj in his vehicle( @2 )-- this code isn't EXACT syntax, just an idea of what to look for. I would also look in the .scm for a mission that someone does chase you... Only if you want to make this easy on yourself. This can help but the game can tell you EXACTLY what it does. ceedj
Um, yeah. You realize this exact thing happens at the very beginning of the game (Big Smoke mission), right? Edited November 26, 2006 by ceedj I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets
Bigun
WTF. That's one of the most common/most simple opcodes ever. You MUST have lied in the topic title, or you really suck at opcode searching. Search harder before creating topics next time. Even just browse around posted code on this forum and the Mission Mods Mod Showroom forum. This opcode is definetely widely-used to control stuff with actor's (specifically, the player) car. 00D9: get_actor $Actor vehicle_to $Var This opcode stores the specified actor's current car to the variable specified in the second parameter. If the actor is on-foot, the variable most likely gets set to -1 instead. Though to check if the actor is in a car use conditional opcode 00DF, of course. (note, only number-opcodes diffrenate from local and global vars, in most of the rest you can use either globals or locals) So you will want to use it as this; 00D9: get_actor $PLAYER_ACTOR vehicle_to @0 Then @0 will reference the player's car, and you can use it in car-related opcodes.
