Hayden
I've played the demo via the PSN and it's actually rather difficult. Much more realistic. The graphics are also pretty good, better than the latest Tony Hawke's.

I've lost interest in this game, haven't touched it for atleast two months and CoD4 isn't moving from my most played game anytime soon.
Mafia Drive Gunner
Yeah I'm a bit the same Tiger. I played it until I finished, then I mucked around on the big ramps for a while, but I guess I didn't get sick of it, I just started playing FIFA and GTA4. The most fun is going back to the task where you have to break as many bones as you can in that photo task for Thrasher, and trying to beat your mates at it. WastedEngland
I really like SKATE, hopefully in the next one you will be able to get off your board and run around. Bloody annoying having to skate around awkrawd handicap ramps to get back up to the stair set you just bailed down. I like both Tony Hawks series and SKATE, I dont compare them 'cos that would be like comparing Forza with Burnout, both racing games but both quite different. Forza being the Simulation that makes you play realistically (SKATE) and Burnout being the arcadey game thats quick paced and very extreme (Tony Hawks) That's what I feel anyway I miss the story style games like THs Underground 1 and American Wasteland though, I hope the next SKATE has some sort of story, not just becoming the best with a hand full of characters pointing the way. Rebel
Is it me, but am I the only person who has a really hard trouble doing these videos? I've really not been playing this much anymore because the fact that I still have a lot of videos to do kinda puts a downer on me. Any tips and such to do some? Then how the hell do you move on in the story if you hardly did any of them? All I seem to have to move on is stupid videos. No pictures, no nothing. Alrighty, here's where you're gonna go for any spot that needs manuals, grinds, or power slides: To go Reg's, then facing away from the store, go to the right (up the hill) for 2 or 3 blocks. Turn around, facing back the way you came, and start your video. Grind/fliptrick combo on the median, powerslide and manual accordingly. I did probably 90% of my videos there. patgrt
This game really beat my expections! I bought it around 1½ weeks ago (for 20€) and have been glued to it ever since. It's great fun compared to old Hawks that I used to play on my PS1 and PS2. Landing a basic Kickflip on a rail and kickflipping out of the grind in this game gives me several times more pleasure than grinding on some phonelines and crap! I'm definitely buying Skate 2 as pretty much the only annoying thing in Skate is the inability to walk up a curb or stairs.
G MONEY $$$
I still haven't gotten past that one challenge that requires me to do the 360 flip to FS Crooked or something like that. That like...ruined the game for me...because I just can't do it and I can't progress.

That like...ruined the game for me...because I just can't do it and I can't progress. That challenge is not required for the storyline, though. So you could finish the game (ie Skateboard Mag + Thrasher stuff) and go back to that horrible challenge later, or just skip it all together. I managed to do it after 2 hours and 7 beers! Skate is one of those games that you have to take a break from for a while.
Vanillainy
Bit of a bump. But worth it...[youtube/]SKATE 2 AWESOMENESS That has made my day, loving that you can get off your board now. @The challenge: I remember that, it was a bitch. It took me a while to do it also but I watched a video on how to do it which helped me alot. I'd post a video but there is quite a few of them so just search for Rob Big Challenge skate

gamesguru
Quoting myself from the Skate 2 thread: Anyone remember the Rob and Big mission? Where you had to do a 360 into a Crooked? Man it can bring a man to tears. It took me like 2hrs! Let's hope they tweak the controls this time as some of the tricks were a bit awkward to do. darthYENIK
That seems to be the one trick hands down, that every single person I know who has played the game, has big trouble with. But it's what skateboarding is all about. Sometimes there is a trick that seems simple, that just kicks the sh*t out of you every time you try it. Personally I seem to just have trouble doing a 360 flip at all...and getting the height required to get onto the little bench/ledge seems like the next big difficulty. Perhaps I'll get back to Skate soon. I've only gotten around 325 achievement points out of Skate...I'd like to get some more.
darthYENIK
The key to getting height off the 360 flips is to think of the joystick as a clock. You want to start off at around 4, then go to 6, then flick to 10 or 11. The key is doing this as fast as you can.
gamesguru
Perhaps I'll get back to Skate soon. I've only gotten around 325 achievement points out of Skate...I'd like to get some more. I have 990. The last 2 is weird because there's a glitch on their site and it's stopping me from uploading Skate vids thereby not allowing me to get the last few points. But hey, it's no biggy. I'm not an achievement whore, although I would be if I still had the time like in the good old days (*sigh*). I've pretty much nailed the 360 Flip. You have to flick the analogue stick quickly. But the problem was angling it on the bench into a Crooked. Edited August 4, 2008 by gamesguru

Yeah, the trailer's on the last page. I read that IGN article though. Sounds like you are going to be able to hand and foot plant on pretty much anything you want. I just hope the story doesn't take away from the pure feeling of skating.

darthYENIK
Personally, after some thought, I feel that walking is the right direction for the game. Plus it's not like you're going to be doing parkour like Tony Hawk turned into. At first stepping off the board on Tony Hawk was awesome. The acid drops, and ability to get to new places was definitely refreshing to the series. Of course that was before it became Bam Margera's Pro Skater. Anyway. Back to skate. I can't wait to get my hands on this. Lets just hope the demo isn't delayed.

Couldn't get past it, and it was a major turn off for me with this game. Although I can't deny it... this game is easily one of the best I've ever played, and that trailer for the new one looks fantastic. Must buy from me. ryuclan
Looks like you can get off your board... And it becomes closer to Tony Hawk's. Well getting off the board makes moving around a LOT easier, you can actually walk back up those stairs instead of going all the way around again. Whats funny is that a new Tony Hawk doesn't even seem to be in the works lol.
