smylee
Ok...I've been searching for a solution to my problm for about 3 hours and its getting a bit ridiculous! I don't know why but ever since this one time I uninstalled GTA SA and reinstalled it, it hasnt created a GTA San Andreas User Files directory in My Documents...I've tried to uninstall then reinstall the game several times (Like almost 100 times!!!!) and everytime I would uninstall I would delete everything that has to do with GTA SA just so things are back to square one. When I install again, nothing! The game works fine, but I just can't play my own music because there is no User Tracks folder! This is whats bugging me...I've found out that my save directory is in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data and so are the 3 other files that are normaly in the User Files directory in My Documents. Thes files are: "gta_sa.set", "sa-ufiles.dat", and "sa-utrax.dat". So basically what I'm asking anyone is to try and help me get my music playing. I've tried to do it myself by putting the .mp3's in the C:\...GTA San Andreas\data folder (like those others things that are in it, save file etc...) but no cigar. I've tried shortcuts(nothing), then copies(nothing), then the actual .mp3 (nothing)...After I thought maybe I should just create a User Tracks folder in this \data folder. Nothing!!!!!!!! I'm gonna lose my mind!!!! All I want to do is play my 2Pac and Biggie!!!!!! If someone can help me, I will be soooooo verrrrry greatfulll !! I_Pfreely
This should belong to troubleshooting section. But if your user file isn't there try saving after a mission in the first mission slot. And then run search and search up: GTASAsf1.b
smylee
I know where my saved game is, If anyone else takes the time to read my whole post and can help me, it would be deeply appreciated!
jarjar
So basically the problem is you can't find your User Files folder because it isn't showing up? Could it be hidden? Try searching for "GTA San Andreas User Files" in the Windows Search Dialog.
smylee
thx anyways jarjar but... I've searched and even right now I'm searching again just to make sure, and nothing! I've looked everywhere possible but its nowhere to be found!!!!!
smylee
Again, the directory with the save game file and the sa-utrax.dat and sa-ufiles.dat are in my "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\data" folder. What I'm trying to do is play music...Maybe someone can tell me another way to play my own music instead of putting it in a "User Tracks" folder! If not, then I need to find out whats wrong with the "User Files" directory..
gillies
To play your own music just download Winamp then put your music on, and set the music volume to 0 in the San Andreas options. Otherwise make a new user account in Windows then reinstall San Andreas from in that account to see if it makes the user files properly.
Pranjal
To play your own music just download Winamp then put your music on, and set the music volume to 0 in the San Andreas options. In that case the music will play even when CJ is walking or running.

Kryand
I had the same problem and found out how to fix it. You'll need to go into the registry editor (Start > Run > regedit). Go to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Shell Folders Add the following entry (right click > New > String Value): Value name: Gtasasav Value data: C:\etcetc The value data should be the path to where ever you want you GTA SA user files to go. Once you change the registry, reload GTA SA and exit when you get to the main menu so it creates all the directories for you. Move you saved game file into the new GTA SA user files directory. That directory should now also have a User Tracks folder. This fixed the problem for me; I hope it helps.
