silvermanblue
Well I was surfing the forums and came apon a gentlemen who was asking if there was a way to store boats. Now that got me thinking now im not sure about s.a. but im sure in v.c. it was possible to move save garages. as patrickw so elegantly demonstraited with the carpark mod. well wouldent it be possible to lower a garage to a point where there is water deep enough so a boat can enter it have a canal or have it buffeted to the back of tommys mansion in vice and bam aqua garage just a thought Leone Family Mafia ПРОПАГАНДА.ИНЦ, СИЛВЕРМАНБЛУЕ
Suction Testicle Man
Certainly an idea, though I have to point out that Patrick's marina car park mod famously wasn't a relocation of a garage - it was a scm script that imitated what original garages do but allowed for more flexibility in terms of size and number of cars allowed in. Garage parameters are hard-coded; but technically anything can be changed. Relocating coordinates for a garage to a waterfront and thus saving a boat in it wouldn't cause any problems I can think of, as it's already possible to save a boat in a garage if you can be arsed to ram it all the way there with a car. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.
silvermanblue
So do you think its worth trying. Well because alot of people dont even like the boats. Ive always liked the aqua garages by the mansions in my home town, and I figured what the hey lets try. Once im finished upgrading my system I will have to hit the coding tuts. Thanks suction you the man! Leone Family Mafia ПРОПАГАНДА.ИНЦ, СИЛВЕРМАНБЛУЕ
TheDude5000
This sounds pretty good. I'm working on a map mod now, and let's just say a dock/garage would be great. Let me know if you have any luck.
silvermanblue
Yeah no problem. It will Probally be about a month or two. Id like to get pretty well read on coding and mapping. Before I attempted it I will try to put up some mockups as soon as possible, crap I havent even decided what game to put it in. But this was what i was hoping for some positive feedback, and not horrible flamewars over the fact boats suck. dertyjerzian
You wont need to code, you can actually do that just the way you said so in your first post. STM was saying that Barton's mod was sCM coded... Since your mod will undoubtably hold no more than say 4 boats, just use the GRGE line in the IPL and experiment
silvermanblue
Yeah I figured since I have to relocate garage coordinates to the water or close its coding related. But I geuss I was mistaken thanks. Leone Family Mafia ПРОПАГАНДА.ИНЦ, СИЛВЕРМАНБЛУЕ
Mark
Hmm...tis an idea for my boathouse on my MI lot, considering i'll probably have to move the lot anyway due to the fact ODIEs old stuff still may be released, I don't see why I can't add one to the boathouse when I modify the current land I've made. Still, long way away yet. Need to hear the latest on ODIEs stuff, as no other lot is really suitable for the mo. Maybe I can stuff it on the coast of illURB. jarjar
It is definitely a good idea, and something that I feel would be possible too. Although, in San Andreas maybe not, just yet anyway. Vice City has a lot more freedom and options when it comes to save garages, San Andreas has a lot of there functions hardcoded. But I'm sure with a bit of work, we could work it out some way. Yeah I was going to ask you about that boathouse, Its a pretty cool building not exactly what I was looking for but would make an excellent testbed! As soon as I get sh*t movng on my new comp I might ask to use the files. Good lookin out GT. dertyjerzian
just load a generic garage into your scene, and model around it. Place it where it should be in-game, do some trick texture work, BOOM Instant carport for boats, door and all. Use the hanger, modify it! Not all of needs to show either, and you can encase it with what only appears to be a smaller opening for the largest boat. Bleh, i dunno.
