TrueScot
I've been struggling with this problem for some time. I have Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas on my machine. I played, completed and replayed these games countless times but recently I been having a problem with the mouse once its into the game. The mouse works fine before the game in other applications, it works at the menu level but as soon as I start the game I can't steer or use any buttons. I have to use the arrow keys and the 'enter' key on the keyboard. When I hit Esc to get back to the menus the mouse works fine again !! This happens in San Andreas and Vice City. It doesn't happen at all during Liberty City. I've tried several mice, cordless and corded. I've uninstalled and re-installed mouse drivers. I uninstalled and re-installed San Andreas and Vice City and even removed residual Registry entries for them but still I can't identify this problem. Absolutely nothing else is running or loaded and I've even turned off most services. I'm running a Pentium 4 (3.2g), 2g memory and Nvidia GeForce FX5200 with XP Pro and SP2 with all current updates. Has anyone out there eperienced and overcome this problem or any suggestions?
Demarest
I'm assuming when you say Liberty City, you mean GTA3. If that's the case, then say GTA3 since Liberty City is the mod that puts GTA3 into VC. Which for the sake of topics like this is still VC. No GTA3D leaves any registry info. Meanwhile, uninstalling and reinstalling will not impact the SET file, which IS left and also contains your preferences. Like having it set up for Classic Controls (GTA3 and VC) or Joypad (SA). This is the only reason I would expect your mouse to have no impact ingame. If you want to use the mouse (better choice anyways), turn on Standard Controls in GTA3 and VC or Mouse + Keys in SA. TrueScot
Thanks for all that. Makes no difference though. Another point, the mouse can behave erratically at the menu level also. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't at all. Hitting Esc and returning sometimes brings the mouse back but the behaviour is unpredictable. I have run virus scans and the system is clean. Pranjal
No GTA3D leaves any registry info. What is this then???
TrueScot
The mice are: Sony PCVA-MS1PL (PS/2) M56WC (USB Cordless) - (OEM Unknown) MK1443WC (USB Cordless) - (OEM Unknown) All of them work perfectly with all other applications which suggests it isn't the devices. I didn't imagine removing GTA entries in the registry. If its at all relevent here are the XP Updates on my machine - SP0 KB904706 on 02/01/2006 (details...) Girish
Please don't bump old topics. Start your own topic. And give details like your system specifications, operating system, where you purchased the game from and whether you have any mods installed.
