the riddler
i know this has been brought up already. however i could not find anything useful, so i decided to open a new thread. i think it should be possible to add cars to gta sa instead of replacing existing ones. as jarjar and dexx have pointed out already there is a workaround for gta sa 2.0 to get mods to work. gta 2.0 fully moddable i think this workaround (creating a new img-file, adding the modded cars to it and renaming them in the original img) could be useful for adding more cars to gta sa than there are in the original game. as far as i know there are two major reasons why you can´t add any cars without replacing existing ones: 1. the original img file size must not be changed 2. there is a vehicle limit in the .exe problem 1 is solved thanks to jarjar and dexx. so all we need is someone who is familiar with the .exe-structure to get rid of the vehicle limit. something like the limit adjuster in gta vc. i know it´s been stated as impossible several times, but i figure if you combined those two approaches you might get it to work. any thoughts on that? oh and please don´t be mad at me for opening a new thread. i´m not a noob who´s too lazy to search, it´s just that i spent countless hours browsing the web and this forum in particular without any satisfying results... -/TNT\-
Hmmm, difficult to say, no one has ever managed to get many extra cars in game, of course you can add a few, by using some ID's that the game doesn't need. But even then you can't have too many. About the gta3.IMG size, that matters only to the v2 users, one of whom I guess you are. In v1 you don't need to fear changing the gta3.IMG size (mine is well over a GB) Also, editing the exe isn't as easy as you may think it is and like the VC limit adjuster, some guys might see it fit to contact Rockstar before making it possible. PS: Welcome to the forums! PS2: I think this should be moved to Misc, in the Editing Discussion section. Not sure... PS3: It costs more than 1000$ Edited November 21, 2006 by -/TNT\-

Your gta3.img Pranjal must be more or less completely un-modded so that is its normal size. @starion: Your game must be pretty heavily modded . Of course when you downgrade you can change the size, as you add mods to it.
Stefan.
Wow, I didn't know that mods take up more room in your files. Is there a byte limiter?
jarjar
Yeah, it has been brang up before, and I believe there is a vehilce limit on version 1 and 2. However, no one is really that interested in removing it at the moment as far as I know. But for the future, it may be a good idea. Especially for people in making Total Conversions and what not. Yes it is. Take a look at THIS topic. Thanks to me, this job is now more easier to do Far as I know, you can only add 3 new CARS, but if you find a way to add bikes/planes/helicopters or more cars please let me know! Picolini
About your first post... "as far as i know there are two major reasons why you can´t add any cars without replacing existing ones: 1. the original img file size must not be changed 2. there is a vehicle limit in the .exe" 1. That's not true, for v1. So that's not a reason why you can't add cars in. 2. I think this is the only reason why you can't add cars. Buuuuut.... I have found a way to use existing vehicles to make other types. Basically you can turn every car into a plane (good thing is, parts like rotating brusheson the street sweeper can be used as props, viola 4 propeller plane). Bad thing is, landing gear doesn't work so all fixed gear planes. And the engine sound is the car.... I have tried turning the hydra into a car, but it just handles like a plane. I'm sure if I edited the handling it would handle like a car. Buuut, the missiles stop working, so it's kinda pointless. I have turned the Hunter into a plane, so you can have another plane with missiles and a gun, but again no landing gear, which sucks. I posted quite a bit about this in a Topic over at Ascendence.net (need to register) http://www.ascendence.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=473 This is basically what I did... I replaced the buccaneer with the f-18 hydra I made. See here in the GGMM. I just simply renamed the .dff and .txd to hydra.* Then I just replaced the main portion of the bucaneers vehicles.ide line, all except the ide number, .dff and .txd name. Like so... 518, buccanee, buccanee, plane, HYDRA, HYDRA, rustler, ignore, 4, 0, 0, -1, 0.7, 0.3, -1 This makes it have the Hydra handling and name show up when you jump in it. Now I was amazingly suprised this worked up until this point. When I got it and took off, horizontally and not vertically like I was hoping, the plane lifted off the ground like a regular plane. The landing gear did not rise up, or affect the handling in anyway, so it acts like a regular plane like the dodo or beagle. But the ailerons, elevators (and rudders, but they aren't workable on this mod) work just fine. Here it is ingame, notice the regular hydra next to it, but whats that?? It says hydra when I hop in the "Buccaneer"! I know this isn't really adding new cars, but I figured I'd post some info on it here, in case people wanted to know... The best thing is you can mix and match with vehicles with different hardcoded functions to get some unique planes. For example... the rhino as a plane (kinda sucks, the blast recoils hard, and it can stop you in flight, interesting nonetheless), tow truck plane (tried it but the cars flip off after flight), etc etc... Mark
Interesting. Plane mod anyone? Would work well with SA:MP too Just pick your plane, get spawned in the air (thus no undercarriage needed), go kill . Or just fly about
Picolini
Well the wheel dummies still work, so fixed undercarriages are fine. You can even just make it have no landing gear, and clear wheels and just have it "float" on the ground if you really wanted too...
