Pump Bumper
I've got a decent gaming PC, plays all the games i want to play...but, of course, i'd like to get some more muscle. 1st of all, my specs: Intel Pentium 4 2.80 Ghz 1GB RAM XFX Geforce 6800GT (agp) ASUS motherboard, i forget what model. no PCI support. so is it really worth doing a damn thing before DX10 is out? when is that coming? should i just get a quality PCI mobo? (i'm far from a computer expert btw) can my RAM be transfered from my current mobo to a new PCI one? more than anything, i'd just appreciate suggestions on where to go to make my pc better for gaming. thanks and i could see myself maybe spending $400 or so. *gta star*
Well, I'd try and get some more RAM like mine (2Gb). Also, update your graphics card to another version- 7600 GT, which I have and it's great ! Maybe you could consider updating to the newest Pentium 4 Processor, the Core Duo 2, which is what I have and seriously, it is really fast. It can run lots of applications at once, like AOL, Microsoft Word, big games aswell- no problem at all. I'm sure you could do that for $400, maybe a touch more depending on prices over there. Tornado Rex
Personally, I wouldn't bother upgrading anything. You're not going to get very much of a performance increase off anything, unless you're determined to play the latest and greatest games at max settings rather than almost max settings. I would save up my money, wait for the DX10 cards to come out (and possibly until they drop in price) and build a completely new computer. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
*gta star*
Goodness knows how long before DX10 cards come out, might be worth updating something in your computer, it will always come in use.
Forfit
Goodness knows how long before DX10 cards come out, might be worth updating something in your computer, it will always come in use. The Nvidia 8800GTX/GTS are dx10 cards already out. We need to just wait on vista/dx10 itself and more dx10 cards to drop in price. Then i myself shall upgrade. *gta star*
Well that's a f*cker, I just bought a new computer aswell and put a 7600GT Gfx card in mine, you can never keep on top of new technology.
Pump Bumper
thanks for the responses guys. as much as i want to squeeze some more out of what i got, i thunk i'll follow Tornado Rex's advice and hold off until the new series of cards are out, then i'll build a new pc. gonna be tough to wait
3niX
Well... 1 GB of RAM is enough. New graphics cards are coming out anyway (so expect prices to drop). Id say that waiting is the best option.
*gta star*
Them new DX10 graphics cards are the best part of £320, according to a computer technician that lives near me.
