zeta1
Most of this spam is a "good luck" greeting and sometimes two members conversing with each other. Now I don't see what's wrong wtih this, but seeing as how it breaks the rules and only expands post count, well, is this wrong? I feel icky when viewing one of these topics because it steers from the topic on hand which is to get the topic creator some offers. This is just my opinion on the situation, what are yours? Also, I didn't include "evidence" here as to not make the "spammer" feel as if he's being called out. jarjar
I don't know, greetings have been being posted for a long time, and I don't see why not. The idea is not only to give them offers but give them criticism and praise too. Simon.
I do agree with zeta1 where there's a few posts along the lines of - "You seem like a good guy", "I like your post, take this guy!" and just the plain old "Good luck" from people who appear to not even know the member. It's nice and all but it's not needed. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/261375-spam-in-recruitment-forums/#findComment-3942832 Share on other sites
Rob.
It may just be me, but the way i've always seen it, is that in FAT's where other members are wishing each other good luck, if i was recruiting, personally, it would make me feel as though i wouldn't want them as much. Maybe it's the fact that wishing people good luck in FAT's seems a bit fake, and it definantly makes me cringe. Yeah recommendations from friends of that member is nice and all, but as a recruiter, i would feel an unneeded pressure being applied, and so i would just opt out of considering that member for my gang all together. Why someone couldn't just wish a person good luck via a PM or MSN/AIM must be beyond me. Edited November 21, 2006 by Rob. TenaciousD.
I agree with you all, if you look at EmoPat's FAT Topic there are several recommendations, I think that the Free Agent should Edit the post having a list of the people who would recommended them and any gangs interested in looking at the recommendations should PM them. -/TNT\-
I agree. I have made posts like that too and although I do it to encourage the guys who want to be recruited, it can be called spamming. I don't deny it. The thing is when a member who wants to be recruited and he sees a big topic full of "good luck" and the like, it definitely does good to his psychological attitude and makes him more hopeful. Perhaps on the new forum software it'd be possible to implement some sort of hack that would only allow one post per topic (so that we could effectively eliminate the "well-wishing spammers"? I agree with you all, if you look at EmoPat's FAT Topic there are several recommendations, I think that the Free Agent should Edit the post having a list of the people who would recommended them and any gangs interested in looking at the recommendations should PM them. Aye, that'd have to happen if my suggestion was implemented. Sly_Madman
I'm not sure if it's possible, but why doesn't someone make it to where only top authorities in gangs can post in people's free agent topics? I mean, it's kind on a far shot, but it's an idea... Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/261375-spam-in-recruitment-forums/#findComment-3943418 Share on other sites

Well that's possible, a permission mask could be created to allow only those people to reply to topics in the forum, but that eliminate the use of recruitment topics. uNi
How about making it write only, to normal users who want to create a FAT topic. And then make it read only for the recruiters of each gang. That way the users just can write their FATs and rest read them. jarjar
After some careful studying of the Recruitment forums, I can see what you mean. There are a lot of spam posts, or spam to a degree. I don't classify a lengthy post about how you think the member would be good in any gang as spam, but I do classify posts such as "Good luck" or just simply a 1 line or 1 sentence response with no real meaning or interest to anyone is spam. So I think something stopping you from making maybe more then 1 post or more then a certain value of words would be a good idea.
