Tornado Rex
So I've been having this problem on and off. It seems like kind of a crapshoot on whether the XP install will have it or not. The problem is I'll click the little warning thinger telling me to download the updates and the little sh*t will just disappear. It'll then usually take a couple days and all of a sudden the thing will pop up saying my updates are ready to install. This is also weird seeing as how I'm on a 6mbit connection. I would say it's a problem with one of the updates, but it seems to happen randomly. Those of you who reinstall XP a lot hopefully know what I mean when I say "sets of updates". Basically installing with a SP1 disk there's (IIRC) 5 sets of updates. The one to install the new windows installer thingie, then a huge list of updates, then another big list of updates, then SP2, then the SP2 updates. Sometimes it'll happen after the second set, sometimes after the SP2 set. I've also tried installing with a SP2 disk, and it'll happen as well. It also occasionally happens on my laptop, though right now that one's working fine. Basically what I'm asking is if anyone has had this happen to them and if they've been able to fix it. I searched around some on Google and Microsoft's website, but to no avail. I didn't look too hardcore into it though. Anyway, the only spec you should need is that I'm running XP SP2. If for some odd reason you want hardware info, let me know. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
*gta star*
SP2 isn't great to be honest because I had the exact same problem with my last computer. The same thing happened mine, but eventually it came up. I actually spoke to a technician and it is what you said, it's a problem with the updates. I don't really know what you can do to be honest, it worked for me... eventually.
Forfit
Why not turn off automatic updates and install updates manually about once a week? Would that work?
SWEETSAPRIK
Why not turn off automatic updates and install updates manually about once a week? Would that work? It might not fix it, but it should be a good work around. I have mine set to look for them, but notify me instead of automatically downloading and installing them. So I get them as soon as I would otherwise, but it's not happening all invisible in the background. PяopagaиdaIиc.
Tornado Rex
@Sweets and Forfit Obviously I've thought of that The point of the topic wasn't how to get the updates, but rather how to fix the problem. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
