wade1972
I own a PS2, and I've been thinking of getting an Xbox360 but I'm not sure if I should make the leap or not (stick with that until I can afford a PS3). So, I'm putting this up to see if any of you were PS owners who then got an Xbox360...was it worth it? Were there any drawbacks?
Seddo
I owned a PS1 and a PS2 and i jumped ship to Microsoft and although i have only had it for 3-4 weeks i have no problems what so ever, i have been hearing rumors that the PS3 is just a suped up PS2 and that the graphics arn't as good as the 360's due to all the problems they have been having. Plus all the Sony exclusive game, Microsoft have been bringing them to the 360. Plus the price of the console is so cheaper than the PS3 All in all i thought it was a great move by me
RMT
I owned a PS2, but when that got the DRE error I went and got a Xbox. I did get a PSTwo for GTA. But I don't have any plans for PS3 since I have a 360. And in a roundabout way they're mostly the same. I guess you could say I'm with Xbox. But I do own a PSP, so I'm not loyal to them nor am I a fanboy. Pacrel Focre
vint_cool
This article from TIME might help in making a decision, the article says Sony's Playstation 3 is Not Worth the Hype ! link: http://www.time.com/time/business/article/...1560635,00.html Look at what you get. The Playstation 3 is expensive: $500 or $600 bucks, depending on which version you buy, plus $60 for each game. (An Xbox 360 only costs $400 max, and Nintendo's Wii — yep, that name, still funny — is only $250.) For that kind of scratch you want the deluxe treatment, and the PS3 simply doesn't deliver it. It's got some good-looking games, but unless you have a top-notch TV, the difference isn't mind-blowing. (And even if you do have a fancy TV, Sony makes you supply your own HDMI cable. Stingy.) And Sony's launch line-up just isn't that interesting. Almost all the PS3's outstanding games — F.E.A.R., Madden NFL '07, Need for Speed: Carbon, Call of Duty 3 — are available on the Xbox 360, and most (all except F.E.A.R.) are out for the Wii, too. There just isn't the leverage there to make buying a PS3 de rigeur. The only exclusive Playstation 3 title I'm really excited about is Resistance: Fall of Man, which is a truly fun shoot'em up set in an alternative version of the 1950s. Aliens have invaded earth; your job is to put bullets in them. While doing so you prowl through some gloriously detailed, beautifully gloomy factories and labs and shattered cityscapes. The audio is gorgeous, the weapons copious and diverse, the levels huge and complex. In short, it's my idea of a good time. But so is Gears of War, the stunning shooter just out for the Xbox 360. Resistance isn't enough to drive sales of a $600 console, or it shouldn't be. Playstation 3 doesn't have a battle-tested, feature-rich online service the way the Xbox does. It doubles as a Blu-Ray DVD player (that's the main reason for the high retail price), but guess what? Nobody cares. And did I mention Playstation 3 controllers don't rumble? Whose genius idea was that? Without rumble, it just ain't a jungle. Give it time. The price will (probably) come down. Sony's online strategy will (probably) mature. More decent games will come out — the Playstation3 is notoriously difficult to develop for, and game-makers are still figuring out how to get the most out of it. Next holiday season, it just might be worth it. For now it's pretty much moot anyway. Because of the difficulty of manufacturing Playstation 3's, Sony has only been able to put a few hundred thousand units on sale in the U.S., so unless you spent last night camped out in front of a Gamestop, buying a Playstation3 is not an option. Congratulations: you made the right call. And you smell better for it, too.

Platinum.
I've got as PS, PS2 and PSP, and I switched over to an Xbox 360 this time round. I've never been happier, Xbox Live is like something I've never experienced before, everything is a lot more organised and well presented than the Playstation systems, and the games are brilliant. Now turning back for me. But I'm not an Xbox or Sony fan boy, I still think the PS2 was much better than the Xbox games wise.
TheDude5000
Good to see the Sony fanboyism isn't as bad here as I thought. Yeah, get the 360. It already has a great library of games, including Game Of The Year nominee Gears Of War. PS3 has a dull launch line-up, and the games can't compare to Gears Of War in the graphics department(shame, seeing as how the PS3 has been delayed all year). Many PS3 titles have had very bad framerate issues as well. The smart thing to do would be to sit this one out. Get a 360, or a Wii, or both. Wait till Sony sorts out any bugs/issues, and get one of the new, second gen batch PS3's next spring. kingvercetti
I buy whatever I can afford usually. I had a GameCube, sold it to buy an Xbox, then when the price dropped, bought a PS2, too. Now i'm opting to get a 360 this chistmas, after playing on my mates I have to say it's amazing all round, and it doesn't break your balls buying it (someone most likely got their testicles trampled on in the PS3 mini riots). Kippers
i only purchased an Xbox last year when my mate was selling his off cheaply, so i've been a sony guy for a long time. But I've just gotten back from town where i was looking at 360 prices. so screw the PS3 for now 習うより慣れろ
The Phantom Menace
Yep, I too went from Sony to Microsoft. One of the main reasons was the low price of the console. I mean to get practically the same amount of power (or perhaps more) for a lower price was simply to irresistible for me. When I first got the console I wasn't too sure about it as I knew the reputation of the original Xbox was a little mixed and I had been an avid playstation fan from way back in the day. However though, after owning it for almost a year I can tell you that I'm not disappointed with it in the slightest. The games are the best I've ever played and the upcoming line up for the console is simply awesome. To put it simply - Making the jump from PS to 360 was one of the best moves I've done, computer wise. Jake
I used to be a Playstation fan all around until I bought an Xbox in 2004...I haven't touched my PS2 for about a year, it just sits there and collects dust, I'm just keeping it incase I get an urge to play any of my PS games. Xbox360 is already pretty well established thus far this generation in gaming with a lot of good games on it and more coming. I really don't see the point in getting a PS3 unless you're into the exclusives they have like MGS, but to me even that isn't worth 500 or 600 USD. AlianAnt
I used to be an anal Playstation fanboy. I bashed the Xbox at every turn and would rave to anyone who would lissten about the Xbox's lower quality games and system. And then my third PS2 started getting DREs (which is when I deicided I'd start doing that blasted gear turning thing to fix it), and my dad bought me an Xbox and Halo. I really can't see myself ever going back. The 360 is the best console I've ever owned, hands down. The games are more entertaining (imo) and its lineup over the next year is really exciting. I suppose the only reason you'd want to get a PS3 is for MGS4....but you have to ask yourself: does MGS4 really justify 500 or 600 buckeroos Metal up your ass! BroDan
Always had a PS, PS2, Gamecube, X-box... 360 was the next logical step. My Ps2 was my most used console but meh, I LOVE my 360. Best money I ever spent. Still alive, lurking in the shadows. BF3 Profile
Greene
Ive had PS1, PS2, PSP and i plan on getting PS3. Ive definetly considered getting the 360 but ive decided to stick with Sony. Money isn't really an issue as ive started saving money from my job and by March i'll have more than enough. Everyone in this topic seem to be 360 gamers but im gonna stick with Playstation at least for this generation.
Twang of Cauliflower
I had a PS1, I love my PS2, and I use my PSP in one way or another, and like the guy above me, I plan on getting a PS3. At one point I considered a 360, but then I noticed that it's "best games" are FPSs, and I don't pay for FPSs. Also, every game I've ever looked at on 360 was also on PS2/PS3, and several games on PS3 that I want aren't on 360. No more incentive to get a 360. And don't even try to throw stuff at me like "tech specs" and "graphics." I don't give a damn about that. And I realize this is a topic about converts, but I guess I had considered? Sly_Madman
I'll be hopping over from Sony to Macrohard this christmas! Seriously, I can't wait for a 360, and I can't... say the same for PS3. Plus, to own a PS3 you've gotta be pulling down doctor money.

Pat
I haven't bought either yet (Well, of COURSE I haven't bought a PS3 yet, I'm not going to risk being shot.) but I've really thought about an Xbox 360. And btw, I've always been a Sony fanboy. BIG time. And when they ported III to the Xbox, I went anal about it. I said Xbox was stealing Sony's exlusive game, and that they already had their own exlusive games, and they should just keep their nosy f*cking asses out of it. But now, even though I hear alot about Xbox 360s overheating, I still think I want one more than the PS3. Because, PS3 is just graphics, and 360 is almost just basically graphics too, but I've only played Halo 2 once, so I've never experienced original Xbox graphics (Which I hear kicked ass in their generation). So I'm probably going with a 360. Besides, I can get a 360 for half the f*cking price of a PS3!

Mr.Mister
I've been a PlayStation fan for the past 9 years and I have finally moved to the 360. I was gunna get a PS3 but all of the awesome 360 exclusive games and Xbox Live converted me. Plus, a lot of my friends got a 360 with Live. Too bad I got a SDTV... I might get a HDTV soon, hopefully. GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah I am another one, bought a PS2 way back in 01/02 and now I've turned my back on Sony and now own a Xbox 360. Granted I did also buy a Xbox 2 years ago so I am not totally a stranger to MS. Its likely that yes I may end up with a PS3 later down the track but given the price of it now its way, way down the track for me. The 360 offers me the main games I want to play. It's all about what you want and what you can have. I want a PS3 cause I don't have an 360. I might have both later, like I currently have both PS2 and Xbox (1) and play them both. Stupid fanboys, check places like gamespot; they are so full of f*cking idiots crying my 360's bett0r than ur ps3!!!.
