Australia drew 0-0 with the Netherlands. Solid considering that we were both playing full sides, and it's good to see us doing well against good opposition such as the Dutch. We didn't really play that well and they were by far better than us, but we defended well and that's a good sign if we're going to get a difficult group at the World Cup, that we'll be able to withstand all the pressure that the big teams can give us.

 

And less than 6 hours until Serbia begin to confirm their qualification for the World Cup. Feels so close.

Is it possible that the English actually deliberately lost? As revenge to Croatia for knocking you guys out of qualification for Euro 2008? When Croatia came to Wembley in November 2007, they had already qualified, yet they beat you to knock you out. Now when you have already qualified, and when you know that Ukraine winning will (help) knock Croatia out, it's possible that the team slacked off a bit as a bit of revenge to the Croatians.

 

Probably not true, but if it did indeed happen, then that's quite sly (and clever).

If that's true and England threw the game, which I highly doubt, then the whole England set up, coahces, players, the FA, they all need to be thrown out. A weakened team is just tactics, if that was an alterior motive then so be it. But deliberate Match fixing is an entirely different ball game.

 

Canoxa: Robert Green has been faaaaaaar more consistent for West Ham than James is for Pompey so I would personally say Green is the better keeper (but I would, I'm biased ) I think Green is finding it a little hard to settle in with Capello's team though because the question of England's #1 is still unanswered. Will it be Green, James or Foster?

 

Capello had better make a firm choice soon though or else the goalkeeping turmoil could carry on to the World Cup.

Just because he plays for Portsmouth it doesn't mean he's a bad keeper. He was a bit of a beast at Pompey under Redknapp, got the most premiership clean sheets as well hasn't he? (anybody want to confirm?). He's certainly got better with age and pulls of some fantastic saves but there's still the odd occasion where he makes a mistake. But it's time to breed in a new keeper and Green has been quite good as of late.

 

@Noxa, that was hardly a England B side, the only difference was Carrick replaced Barry.

 

I read in the paper that Terry wanted every England player to do a lap of honour around Wembley tonight but Capello pulled the plug on it, dunno why.

Poland - Slovakia completely sold out in my opinion. Poland played worse then San Marino plus the own goal in the third minute. I wonder how much money they made. And thank you for sending the winner of the group to the play offs. We now have either Russia, France, Portugal or Greece, which are the worse and highest ranked teams we could get.
