Not exactly a B team, is it? catspider.gif

Ferreira is their 3rd choice RB, Cole isn't even fit, Beletti is their second choice RB, Kalou's their 3rd choice striker, Malouda's not starting often and Ivanovic is their 4th choice centre back.

I'm starting to hate how English football is become such a walking f*cking cliché. Added time... blah blah... video technology... blah blah... squad rotation... blah blaah f*cking blah.

There's no harm in rotating teams. If it backfires, haha you get what you deserve, but if it helps blood younger and out of form players, awesome.

Benayoun was obviously behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner and should have been booked, neatly avoiding and frustration or karate kicks.

Taking the ball to a corner flag is a bookable offence now?

You'll find that everywhere though, not just English football.

I believe ungentlemanly conduct has been an offence for over a century.

Their first team players and all collect at least £80,000 a week and were playing against a championship side at home and won 1-0. I'm not attacking anyone, just explaining how QPR did well whatsthat.gif

No it hasn't.

Taking the ball to the corner flag is not a bookable offence, not giving the ball back to the opposition team after they kicked a ball out to help you injured player is not a bookable offence, carrying on playing whilst an opposition player is down injured is not a bookable offence. The referee does nothing and never has when those incidents occur. The latter two maybe classed as unsporting but taking the ball to the corner flag is not, even the great Manchester United have been guilty of doing so in the past.

The fact is you couldn't get on here quick enough to post that video is funny as if it were a United player there would have been no comment from you and the fact that Mascherano gets 'major disgrace' comment but Bosingwa gets 'oh i can see why he did it, because he was frustrated'. Even Ronaldo and Rooney had numerous lash outs last season, maybe they weren't as malicious as Mascherano's or even other players in the past but the intent was there.

I don't think I've laughed so much watching a football match in years. Fabio de Silva's sending off in the Man utd. v Wolves match in the Carling Cup was downright hilarious. happy.gif

Really? Well it's an offence now at any rate.

If the referee sees these things as unsporting, or ungentlemanly (I'm not sure how it's phrased), then he should stop the game and book the player. The fact the rule's rarely enforced does not mean it should never be enforced. It's rare for United players to take the ball to the corner because we are usually winning by at least two goals at the end of matches and don't need to, but when they do I find it distasteful, it's against the spirit of the game, you must see that, surely?

I can't recall many United players elbowing people in the head other than Roy Keane, and I criticised him when he did it. I've criticised United players for other stupid actions in the past, particularly Paul Scholes. Bosingwa is not a Manchester United player. Rooney and Ronaldo had 2 lash-outs that I can remember, and they were in a game (Stoke away) in which there were probably 10 worse lash-outs and incidents from the opposition before, take a look at Cresswell's heading technique.

As a general rule I can understand when players get frustrated with cheating and react physically, I sympathized with Zidane in 2006 (not a Manchester United player) when he headbutted Materazzi (not a Liverpool player), even Pepe (non-United) to an extent when he did his 'brutal agresion' on that Getafe player who dived, but elbowing players IS a major disgrace, particularly when your opponent has no idea it's coming.

Once you've finished your character assassination of me, and discussions about a match that happened 6 months ago, could you tell us what you think of Mascherano's actions?

Ladies, ladies.

Cautionable offenses

A player is cautioned and shown the yellow card if he commits any of the following seven offences:

  • Unsporting behaviour (unsporting, not mid 18th century courtly gentlemanry)
  • dissent by word or action
  • persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game
  • delaying the restart of play
  • failure to respect the required distance (...)
  • entering (...) the field of play without the referee's permission
  • deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee's permission
The same Laws of the Game do not state, however, that it's the defending team's job to carry the ball to a free kick, corner, penalty, throw or kick off. Not one mention in the whole Fouls and Misconduct chapter, nor on related laws. Send off your appeal along with Chelsea's. Edited by Canoxa

What appeal? Why would anyone need to appeal? Nobody was punished for the incident and as far as I know you can't appeal to have someone else get a retrospective yellow card. Do you think that taking the ball to the corner flag and shielding it, wasting time and preventing the opponent legitimately gaining possession, is sporting behaviour?

What's that?

Refers to free kicks, corners and goal-kicks.

Appeal to change the rules. Just a take on that Chelski thing.

You obviously don't, and I might not, but listen up, kiddo: I fetched the big rule book to get an objective take on the subject. As I said, not one mention. And to help the party, English refereeing is known be to quite dry, you should be used to it. So, jump on board with the londoners' train to the swiss alps if you want to change the rules.

Unsportsmanlike is, by it's nature, subjective so fetching 'the big rule book' won't really help you other than re-establishing what we already know - that unsporting or ungentlemanly conduct is against the rule. The debate centres around whether taking the ball to the corner flag is unsportsmanlike, I believe it is. I don't want the rules changed, I want them applied.

I don't really think that defending the ball in that situation really is unsportman. He's defending the ball and defending possesion, and he wasn't pushing or bumping Bosingwa (as far as I remember, I haven't seen the footage since it actually occured so I could be wrong), and as long as he wasn't pushing or abusin one of the laws of the games by physically violating Bosingwa, then there's nothing wrong with what he actually did.

Portsmouth just lost their 7th league match in a row, I don't see them beating the drop this season, no chance in hell. It's cringeable watching them play.

Fernando Torres makes everything so easy. It's like when he has the ball, he dances around the defenders and calmly slots it into the net, hat-trick for him, Liverpool up 3-1 on Hull.

Nice to see Louis Saha on form in Everton's win, Portsmouth are in freefall, 7 games now? Holy sh*t.

I should be watching the Man United game, but Liverpool-Hull is the only game on cable television confused.gif

Match of the Day ought to be fun tonight. United winning. Games of 5-1 and 6-1 amongst Chelsea losing at Wigan and Petr Cech getting sent off. Awesome.

Liverpool 6-1, absolutely awesome!

Wolfsburg 4-2: good to see they have gotten back in form after 3 losses in a row.

Now just Real is left, boring first half hoping for a better second.

f*cking disappointing. A 3-1 loss against Wigan is unacceptable. And no Cech next week either. Just when I thought things can't go wrong...
