This potential Owen signing is all over the papers and websites now "If he passes the medical" (lol). If it's true Man U are really bottling it with these signings so far. Even though it's a free transfer, the chances he flops are much lower than that of him getting injured, which are both high anyway.

@Seddo - If he was joining Liverpool you would be all for it.

Michael Owen has still loads to offer. I mean lets not take our words for it, lets take the BEST manager in the EPL history's word for it shall we? If he thinks he is worth the risk then he is worth the risk. You can count on one hand the amount of times Sir Alex has got it wrong.

Im gutted because I was hoping he would come to Everton. Service him and he will score sh*t loads of goals, Fergie will also boost his confidence and get him back to his best. Again with everyone thinking Sir Alex is some kind of retard...Im sure there are things in his contract which would mean he wouldnt get paid for old injuries coming back to haunt him and the club.

I reckon if he does go and of course its a big IF, he will be back in the England set up in no time.

Is it just me who can't get onto Redcafe? Have they had a mass suicide or something?

You Sir speak the truth. icon14.gif

A fully fit Owen can get Man utd 10-15 goals easily a season. I'm only worried that Owen will get many injuries like Owen Hargreaves. If I was Sir Alex and I had an Owen Hargreaves in my team, he would've started the CL final against Barca.

I want man utd to sign a defensive midfielder and we hopefully will retain the premier league title.

Would i f*ck, i don't want him. I'd rather see the club moving forward rather than signing old players.

The key words that everyone seems to be using is 'fully fit', how often are you going to get a fully fit Owen. If he does go to United and stays fit and bags a few goals then fair play to him.

Again Seddo. If the best team in England and their staff think they can get something out of Michael Owen, then they must be right?

He's 29 years old. If you could get a striker to give you 20 goals a season, you still wouldnt take him? Behave.

How many strikers did Liverpool buy which failed before the arrival of Torres?

They reckon he has agreed personal terms with Man Utd.

Ribery: I only want Real move

FRANCK RIBERY has rocked Alex Ferguson's transfer plans by insisting he will only leave Bayern Munich to join Real Madrid.

Lyon striker Karim Benzema yesterday snubbed the Manchester United boss by agreeing a £30million switch to the Bernabeu.

And now France star Ribery, who was understood to be a United target, has he revealed will leave the German giants — but not for Old Trafford.

The midfielder was also wanted by new Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ribery said: "I have made up my mind, I want to leave. It will be Real Madrid or nothing.

"I would like a discussion with the Bayern directors fairly quickly."

The news is a huge blow for Ferguson, who has already lost Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez this summer.

He had hoped to land Benzema to boost his firepower but missed out to big-spending Real.

Ferguson poached £17m winger Antonio Valencia from Wigan on Tuesday.

But with the majority of the £80m from the Ronaldo deal burning a hole in his pocket, he is running out of world class players to sign.

Ferguson could now turn his attentions to Argentina and Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Agüero.

not likely in this case.

Tho It would be nice if wenger got him, but it seems as he's thinking more of getting the defence stronger, wich is a good thing

Yes, not because of Owen though, because of Benzema.

However, I don't see why Madrid should get him. We already have Robben covering the exact same position. Either way, he is hungry for playing alongside world class players!

Anyone know what happned in the French Ligue 1? Last time I read up on it in World Soccer, in April or May, Marseille were first with Lyon not that far behind. Forgotten to get World Soccer since, and now I read Bordeaux have gone on to win it. Gourcuff had an amazing season on loan from Milan, and he's signed permanently now.

So he's finally signed...

Well I'll be damned. Could be a nice piece of business. Larsson worked, no reason why Owen can't do the same. This is so crazy. I remember this girl back in my first school who was a Liverpool fan and a massive Michael Owen fan. The guy was, for me, always synonymous with thems Scouse. This is too funny.

I smile every time I hear about Owen joining just cause it pisses of lots of Liverpool fans.

Might even get "Owen" on the back of my new United shirt should I decide to get it. Just for the lulz.

Wonder what number he'll get, what with Rooney and Berba being 10 and 9 and Giggs having the shirt he had at Real Madrid.

I can still see Fergie going for a few more players. Damn, this transfer window might not be all bad. Let Madrid take all the household names, we'll get ourselves some young, rough diamonds and craft them into beauties. A lot like we did with Ronaldo wink.gif

As a Liverpool fan I hope Owen actually succeeds in Man Utd because I was a REALLY big fan of him in Liverpool and when he went to Real, not as big and when he left to Newcastle he faded out...

Yeah it isn't great. Will only be around for one season too cause United are getting new sponsors next season. Meh, I never bought the last one. I still wear this one:

Wonder how United will form up this season with what we have now. Idea:

GK: van der Sar

DEF: Neville/Rio/Vidic/Evra

"Anchor" MID: Hargreaves (Please be fit this season)

WINGERS: Valencia/Nani

2nd STRIKERS: Rooney/Berba

Poacher/Frontman: Owen

Obviously we need a new winger. I so want us to go buy Hulk...

That new Man Utd shirt looks really ugly, to be honest.

So, Owen signed for United, I hope this works out, because this is surely a gamble. I'm hoping that this is the kick in the ass Owen needs to rediscover his goal-scoring form.

Sure this might be a cheap transfer, but I'm most concerned with his fitness. I heard that there were some medical examinations on his right knee before the contract was signed. I just hope he can stay fit and not get injured.

That picture of Owen holding up the United scarf is jokes, considering he used to play for Liverpool. I would love to see him score against his old club in Anfield.

MK Dons seem to change managers once a season, so yes, I am not really bothered.

No you're wrong, MK Dons seem to have their manger taken away by a bigger club each season.

SIKK666 I still wear that top, I think it's the best of the last few tops. Don't think Neville will play much if Brown is back.

As a Liverpool fan you should want him to fail, if Owen is succeeding then more than likely Man United will be doing well and we don't want that do we.

Forget the Liverpool ties, he is now the enemy.

He was treat like sh*t at Blackburn. Good to see him back in football.

Wasn't exactly doing well though was he? i think he took that job a little to soon, he should of stayed at MK Dons to gain a bit more managerial experience before moving higher up the leagues.

What was that 'shoot' tactic written on the paper that was always shown on MOTD all about?

Haha.

I can understand the hate radiating from Merseyside. It would be exactly like RvN (an Old Trafford legend who went to Real) joining Liverpool now. But probably not as intense; Owen was a bloody Liverpool schoolboy.

Maybe David Beckham would be a better example.
