Completely fantastic result. I actually think the next game will be close, but with Spain moving on. The US played almost star struck the first two games, and they played poorly. They should play better on wednesday, but still won't be good enough to win.

Oh my goodness, after playing like utter sh*t the first two games, the USA find a way to advance, dammit!

 

I already hated the US team with a passion before, but now I hope Spain destroys them.

 

Italy's defense were outclassed and torn apart by the likes of Maicon, Robinho, and Fabiano. A Spain/Brazil final seems inevitable, but anything can happen in the semis.

I think this is my first post here since a while before Newcastle got relegated. Exams and the sort meant I took a break from here.

Oh, and good to see South Africa through to the Confederations semis, not that I've been watching it. What channel's it on? I've tuned in to a couple of the Under-21 matches and it's been pretty decent. Impressive display by England against Spain from what I saw.

Agreed with you there. At this current moment, the three aforementioned nations are the ones who play the most fluent, fast & deadly football. A Spain versus Brazil final should be an absolute corker - one not to be missed.

 

Also, does anybody else think Robinho meant to feint the ball and let it run through to Fabiano to get the goal? Many people are saying that yes, he did feint deliberately, but not as a means of getting the ball through to the other side for somebody else to be one-on-one with the keeper. Either way it was brilliantly worked; multi-million pound footballers linking up superbly to slice through the 'best national defense on Earth'.

 

I think Newcastle have employed a sly tactic with their new kit. I mean, the opposition players will be too busy laughing & looking in dismay at their kit, that they'll lose concentration and make countless unforced errors. It's been proven to work in the past - just look at Manchester United of the 90s!

 

Oh and, the Confederations cup has mainly been on BBC Three.

My predictions for the Confed. cup semi finals:

 

 

• Spain 4-0 USA

Spain finally turn great play and good build up, into some goals, while the US look out of their depth.

 

• Brazil 3-0 South Africa

I'd say the best national defence on Earth is England's. It'll probably concede more that Spain's though because Spain's midfield is so good that the opposition don't get the ball very much, and Spain (and most other countries for that matter) have a better Goalkeeper.

Since I'm a Liverpool supporter it's really hard to not like Spain (aka Liverpool National team), I won't be disappointed with whoever advances, but a Spain / Brazil final would be the most exciting. As a matter fact I HOPE that happens, two of the best footballing nations with the best players in the world in a cup final. AWESOME.

I think everybody who is watching the tournament, would love to see a Spain vs Brazil final, not only are both teams in great form in this competition, but also it could see the 'passing of the torch' as Spain have just gone past Brazil's previous record of 35(?) straight International victories.

 

England U-21 started well against Germany, but the Germans got the first goal through Castro with a nice move down the right-flank. 1-0 Germany ten minutes gone so-far.

@ Kieto: It's moneyline odds, something the Yanks use quite a lot.

 

For example, Spain @ -$400 = 1/4 or 1.25 odds.

 

Odds you've got there Warlord are pretty much the same everywhere, however I find it pointless to bet anywhere below evens (especially when the odds are lower than 1.50) and I'd probably say you'd do better to check out some of the other markets on show, e.g. Asian Handicaps.
