IMO, he must go. I love the guy but I want to see Berbatov playing at his best without the competition of Tevez breathing down his neck Without Ronnie, Berba needs to step up and start bagging goals with Rooney. Let's get a partnership in the mould of Cole/Yorke again with two wingers bombing down the flanks and supplying crosses (Valencia and Nani?).

 

Benzema can apparently play down the wings so would supply cover for both attacking and wing positions.

Not seen nearly enough of Ribery to comment. We should definitely bring in another striker whether Tevez stays or not, none of our current crop provide enough goals to compensate for the loss of Ronaldo, and I can't see Tevez being happy with being a fourth choice striker, given that he's been bitching and moaning all year about not being played enough despite playing in 51 games. It has to be another striker signed, replacing Ronaldo with another similar winger isn't an option because similar wingers with that level of quality of goalscoring either don't exist or already play for Barcelona. Ideally this close season we'll sign a striker in the Eto'o/Benzema mould, allowing us to get the best out of Rooney and a couple of more conventional wingers, perhaps Robben and van Persie with Tosic, Nani and Park filling in when their huge number of injuries occur. I never want to see Wayne Rooney on the left f*cking wing again.

 

Could do with a world class CM as well, but they're few and far between, perhaps de Rossi..

It is just an idea, we were linked with him this morning. I can't see why he wouldn't, United and Arsenal aren't really rivals any more and he'd earn (and probably win) more at United. Ferguson once said when he was speaking at a dinner with Mourinho that RvP was the one player he'd like to sign from another Premiership club, Mourinho said Gallas.

I think I would rather see teams placed in to the pots based purely ranking rather than keeping Confederations' teams apart. I know it is supposed to be the World Cup and it might bore some people to see 3 European teams in a couple of the groups but it is insane to have one group consisting of Aregentina, Netherlands, Ivory Coast and Serbia & Montenegro while another contains Portugal, Mexico, Angola and Iran.

 

Under the current system, Pot A and Pot C are always going to be full of mostly very strong teams (the host and maybe the weakest 1 or 2 European teams excepted) so most groups start off with one or two decent sides. The two remaining pots then have a vast difference in quality. Teams like USA, S Korea, Ivory Coast aren't that tough when compared to World Cup teams as a whole but when compared to teams like Trinidad & Tobago or Angola, there is a gulf in class.

 

As it stands, one or two "GoD"s are always likely to emerge, while there is also likely to be on or two much weaker groups.

Mascherano going to Barca for 40 mil?

 

Almost unfair for Barcelona to get such excellent midfield depth but would be great to see Mascherano show the parts of his game that a lot of the time has been reserved for when he is playing for the national side.

On top of all his superb defensive qualities he is a very good short passer who would gel perfectly with Xavi and Iniesta.

Seddo will probably get all gay and defend his lover till the end but...If I was offered 40M for Masch I would rip their hand off so quick you wouldnt believe it. If hes worth 40 then Gerrard must be worth 200Million and hes not as good as he used to be. If he was then Real Madrid would have been knocking this season with an offer, but not a word.

He isnt all that in my opinion and for the players Rafa could buy with the money would be the better option, even though he will play them all out of position.

Haha, I was reading that too yesterday. I don't think Madrid will sell their favourite son (after Raul), especially to a club like United with whom they have a strained relationship with. Besides, Fergie has been nurturing Foster for too long, I think he'll get his chance after Edwin leaves.

 

I've also heard rumours of Barca going after Reina. Valdez is certainly out of favour there and hasn't been given a new contract so who knows.

 

As for Tevez, so long buddy. I admired your skills and commitment but this is what happens when you whore out yourself to agents or whatever. Just hope he knows that- yeah, it's a tired old cliché but I think past examples of RvN, Becks and hopefully Ronaldo have proved- you'll never play better football than when under Fergie and his team. Hope he doesn't go to City. He- of all the players they have signed- would form a brilliant partnership with Ireland and Robinho that *gulp* may make them a force to be reckoned with.

The guy's had some bad luck with injuries for a few years and let's face it, who DIDN'T have a bad time at Newcastle? Under Moyes (or any other decent manager for that matter) he'd probably returnt o being a credible striker. The Premiership and English football would be better for it.
