The FA have deducted us the 10 points so we (Southampton) have been relegated to league 1. I love the fact in the state of the financial climate the leaders of our national game still feel the need to punish teams already in the red. Add to the fact the rules were meant to apply to the club and not a company makes the FA all the more laughable. FA doesn’t stand for football association it simply means f*cking arseh*les.

You can't change the rules half-way through the season because the economy goes down the sh*tter. If the deduction is unlawful then Southampton should take the Football League (The FA have nothing to do with this) to court and have it revoked.

No one said anything about changing the rules, I was under the impression that the rules stated (all along) that only if the club went into administration would it be deducted 10 points, our club didn’t. The parent company did, whether these were the rules all along I don’t know. Never agreed with points deduction anyway before it affected us.

But it sets a dangerous precedent if one club is allowed to get off on a technicality. It is a shame, but you were probably going to go down anyway.

No problem there, Derby County did exactly the same thing and got away with it, hence why the rules came into effect. The Football League cannot ignore that. If they do, they are being ridiculous.

Which in-turn puts the club into administration. If your backers runs out of money, you run out of money.

 

I can sympathise with teams going through hard times. Over the past 6 or 7 years, my club in the AFL almost went under due to a number of reasons. We had huge debts and was pretty much insolvent. Bear in mind this is also the most successful club in the competition aswell, or at least was haha. Luckily for us, we had some pretty rich supporters (as in billionares) come into the place and put the club back where it should be.

 

All hope isn't lost guys . As long as the fans are there to support them, anything can happen...

We drew 2-2 with Burnley and are relegated due to league position, this now means we start next season in league 1 with -10. Hopefully we can get off to a good start (3 wins and a draw) and push for immediate promotion. I’m still hopeful of a former player taking over the managerial reigns, wouldn’t mind Magilton now he’s been fired from Ipswich.

Just got in from work to see us win 3-1, heard another player against us got sent off lol. Hopefully keeping the pressure on the Mancs.

But want to know a reason why the refs are always, definitively, biased towards the Mancs? Correct me if I'm wrong, but is taking your shirt off during a celebration not a bookable offence? Didn't they quite strictly introduce that rule?

 

Now answer me this. Had Ronaldo not been booked earlier? Did he not take his shirt off during the celebration for the third goal?

The decision he made was absolutely diabolical. The first words I mustered upon viewing the incident was 'What a save!'. How people call Howard Webb the best English referee is completely beyond me.

 

Although it may or not have had an effect on Manchester United's resilience prior to the penalty, it could well have defined where the title is going to go. Shameful decision.
