Stuart Downing slapped in a transfer request it seems.

Looks like he is off to spurs.

Just because hes put his request in means hes going to get it. He signed a 5 year deal at Boro last year so its not like Boro have to worry about his contract running out and him going on a free. Boro can reject it and make him sit on the bench until he realise that he eithr plays for them or not. Harsh but he belongs to Boror wheter he likes it or not.

Boro are not a big enough club to have Downing sat in the reserves with his thumb up his arse.

They cant afford that. If a player really wants to leave, the club has little choice but to let him go and get the best price possible.

Why keep a player who dosent want to play for you? The club nor the fans would want that.

Middlesborough have just this moment rejected Downings transfer request. I'm sure he'll be gone by the end of the month though.

This Liverpool game has Newcastle all over, dominating the game and having so many chances and they're not getting put away, it better not come back and bite us in the arse.

For a large segment of the game, the shoe was very much on the other foot. I'm sure Preston supporters felt the way you did in the latter stages of the game. Having said that, Liverpool did deserve the victory. Their dominance in the first half, and grit and determination in the second half saw them through.

At the time of posting that we were dominating but i agree, Preston got a bit of energy from somewhere and played very well for about 20 minutes but then they sort of died down again allowing us back in the game, well played to them.

But how frustrating was Robbie Keane!? Granted, he's one of the best player in the business at creating the space and opening up the gaps for himself and his teammates to exploit, but he couldn't finish! Multiple times he created his own chances for his off the ball play, it's a shame he couldn't do the easy part!

Keane's finishing in that game was awful, he got into great positions and linked up well but as soon as he got in the box he just died, at one point Gerrard turned around shaking his head, certainly not the finishing of a 20 million pound striker sad.gif.

See that f*cking Preston player holding Carragher down, cheating bastard.

I'd be questioning Carraghers actions prior to that. Before the incident, Carragher clearly pulled Parkin down, which is why they were both on the deck in the first place. Arguable whether or not it should have been a penalty.

Six of one half a dozen of another on that one. The pinning down reminded me of the '96 F.A cup final.....

Anyway, Arsenal, Portsmouth, take note, that's how you easily dispatch the richest club on Earth! I'm well elated, but City's defending was absolutely abysmal. Still, I'm not complaining, it's time to get rid of the sheep-shaggers now.

Quality performance by Forest that and the result was rightfully deserved, if they play anywhere near that, they should easily dispatch Derby aswell.

From the games I've seen Keane play this season, he's definitely got the attributes. He does a big dose of his job extraordinarily well, but at the end of the day he is a striker. And if Liverpool want to get his money's worth, he's got to be scoring the clear cut chances he's been missing. The same can be said about Berbatov.

I don't know about that, buddy. Had the referee saw Carragher drag Parkin down, the game could have definitely had a different outcome. But that's football, and that's the way it goes. In every game a bad decision will be made.

I love FA cup third round day, it's one of the best footballing days of the year, especially when your team wins. inlove.gif

Quite pleased with our win last name; it's great to see our young players getting in on the scoring action. Our next round will be against Tottenham Hotspur at home which should be a cracker of a game which I'm looking forward to. By the way, how many teams are left in the competition now?

As for us selling Tevez, I would prefer not to as I, in opinion, think that he is better than Berbatov and can do more while playing. As long as he stays fit, he'll play well. icon14.gif

Whoa, what?

Tevez is good, very good, but Berbatov is a freak!

Oh and I heard Neill might be headed back to Blackburn haha.

He's a freak, but Tevez plays better than Berbatov at united, in my opinion. No doubt that Berbatov is a good player, but don't think he'll settle.

Are you talking about Lucas Neill?

God why did both matches have to be at anfield could have had one at goodison, rather uncluky that one. My guess is that Liverpool will beat the blues in the premiership but everton will win the game in the FA cup. Might get down to willy hills and throw a little bet on the matches nearer the time.

Anybody hear about Mark Hughes offer to West Ham's Scott Parker, apparently he is willing to pay Scott around £100,000 to join city. Desperate i reckon.

I wonder if they'll just waste money and get nowhere just like the first half of this season.

Yeah, when chelsea got some megabucks behind them they didnt waste it, When Mourinho first took charge he picked the players he wanted and made use of them, City just dont have a clue how to spend they're money.

I see it like this

Chelsea is a 30 year old homeless man, he has been homeless for many years but is handed a huge fortune when a forgotten family member passes away, He buys a house, a car, shares into companys, and a business for himself. He uses the money sensibly and becomes successfull in the future.

Man City is a 5 year old boy who's parents just died, he has just inherited his parents fortune after their deaths. He buys a whole load of crap which realistically he cannot use which eventually will get thrown in the bin. He buys expensive objects with no idea what to do with them and isnt going knowhere until he starts using his money wisely and not spending it like its going out of fashion.

You think Robinho's a waste of money? 11 goals in only 15 games seems prety f*cking awesome to me. I don't think Wright-Phillips has been a waste of money either.

Yeah, when chelsea got some megabucks behind them they didnt waste it

Juan Sebastien Veron (£16.8M, played a handful of games), Damien duff (£17M, didn't really play to his full potential), Scott Parker (£10M, played only a few games) and Adrian Mutu (£15.8M, didn't impress, failed a cocaine test, got sacked and now owes Chelsea £9.5M), totalling £59.6M isn't a waste?

To most other clubs, yes, but to Chelsea, no; not in the sense that it would have a negative impact on future transfer budgets. Using the normal standard of wasted money on transfers doesn't apply in Chelsea's, and now Man City's, case. Paying Scott Parker £100,000 seems rightly ludicrous to most of us but obviously City are prepared to spend it, just as Chelsea were on those players you mentioned.

Speaking of Veron, he recently won South American Footballer of the Year for the first time in his career. That news was surprising to say the least.

What I'm saying is, no matter how much money Chelsea have got, those listed players were a waste of money, in my opinion, in terms of how they performed. I wasn't referring to their transfer budget, as we all know £60M isn't going to burn a hole in Abramovich' trousers. Just like $100,000 isn't going to burn a hole in Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's turban.

He was always great for his country though if you remember. Just couldnt play in the prem.

I always remember after games when they said how sh*te he was. Then you heard he was fantastic for his country. Strange.

Where was he? La Plata? I always wanted him to spend more at United, seeing him playing for his Nation. He was way too off-form when he played for clubs.

And doesn't GTAF have a Premier League Predictor Competetion?

Yes there were a few rumors about this a while back, but just thought that it was paper talk. If he does leave then fair enough hes done his bit for us and been a decent player. Think he could of contributed more than Rafa has used him at his time here but thats just my opinion.

Quick Seddo, get hold of a executive box ticket for the match and have a mini-riot with Waddy.

I can't speak of every performance, since I don't watch him, but what's going on with keane? I remember him being an attack-minded player for spurs but all he did at the Preston game was hold the ball up, even if he was in the box with a clear shot on target or blast shots wide.

At least torres is back for liverpool now, although I doubt he'll make a massive impact at the derby and I can see Everton snatching it.

I'm desperately trying to get tickets for the Liverpool-Everton Prem game as i'm off work on the Monday, can't get them off the official Liverpool site though as you have to have Wigan and another game on your fancard. So using another site.

I've heard F.A cup games are easier to get hold off than Prem games so might try and nab one of them aswell depending on the fixture date, although considering the circumstances of the draw some rules have probably been changed making them harder to get hold off.

@ET, he makes decent runs and link up play but if he's in the box with a decent goal scoring opportunity he'll choose to pass most times, or he seems to just miss hit some chances, defo gotta be a confidence thing.

Shut it Waddy mad.gif.

Lol we bought Defoe back for 15 million...

seems like pretty poor business really, like a loss of 3 m or whatever in only a year...

But hopefully he'll flourish now seeing as keano and Berbatov've left, regular play should enable him to become the awesome striker her almost once was at the lane.

Spurs are losing against Burnley at White Hart Lane.

We sure are.

This is our only chance of somehow getting into Europe next year...

Ah well. We do have the looming prospect of relegation to contend with i guess, so maybe it's for the best... sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif

4-1 now.

Now let's hope we can do the same to the ram f*ckers tomorrow morning. That's if we can be f*cked, but I'd like to win the League Cup just so Tottenham supporters can no longer claim the cup as their own.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are on the verge of acquiring Andrei Arshavin for only £10 million. Arsenal are also prepared to offer Arshavin a three-year deal. The 27-year-old was supposedly at the London Landmark hotel discussing a deal with the Arsenal chiefs yesterday.

If true, I will be a very happy Arsenal supporter.

@Waddy, just looked at those executive boxes at Anfield and it's like 4-5 grand per match depending on the fixture according to a site i visted wow.gif, i can afford one but i ain't blowing that much on a football game whether it's VIP or not.

Got my mum to phone the ticket line and there's single seats left for the game, i'm not arsed being on my own but i have no way of getting there. I can't drive, i ain't getting 25 buses to Liverpool and me on a train equals getting so lost sad.gif.

No surprise seeing Beckham and top of the rich list but seeing Rooney that high up in a relatively early career is a bit of a surprise.
