FA Cup 4th Round Draw - Selected Ties

Liverpool vs Everton

Woo that's going to be spicy, a Merseyside Derby is hot enough so with the extra umph of an F.A cup game, this should be a quality game.

I'm glad we've got the home draw though, not had a Merseyside F.A cup tie since the 80's i don't think..

Doesn't this game fall right next to the Liverpool-Everton Premiership game.

Tevez was on a 3 season loan deal which started what 2007?, so that's going to end this season. I've heard nothing from United, Tevez or his owners saying he's got a contract until 2012.

Just like Mascherano was on an 18 month loan deal, in which Liverpool have bought him.

2 Season loan deal, a 3 year one would finish in 2010. When Liverpool wanted to buy Mascherano there was no need for them to negotiate a contract with him because they'd already done it when they signed him on the loan, all that was required was for Liverpool to pay the monies to MSI and the 18 month deal was automatically extended to a 4.5 year one. United's deal with MSI for Tevez was based on a virtually identical contract to the Liverpool one to ensure we would not be burnt by the FA. That is my understanding of the situation based on interviews I've heard with Joorabchian and the contract West Ham had with Tevez and MSI. Having said that it's a very complicated deal, so I may be misunderstanding it.

listening to the saints man united game atm, mike riley needs lynching.

He gives a yellow card to a man united player for a tug, last man as well, then gives paterson a straight red for a lunge...

Then he gives a penalty for handball! When is the ball hitting a players shoulder handball? Mike Riley is a joke..

The Saints played stuck his arm in the air for no reason while he was in the wall and it hit him in the shoulder, technically not a penalty but I don't know what you expect when you do something like that. Paterson deserved to go, it was a dangerous tackle. Evans tug could have been yellow, could have been red, it's arguable.

The Sky Sports commentator said the ball hit the Southampton players head, now that is bad if you're given pens like that.

Yes, I remember how much you have complained in the past when penalties have been incorrectly given.

Hi, my name is Kieto, I am a Man Utd fan and I like to swear.

EDIT: United 3 up.

That was in a period of time consisting of about 35 days in a row were you moaned at Liverpool's decisions whether it was right or wrong and 99.9% of the members here were getting fed up of you wink.gif.

And to be fair, i wasn't exactly moaning there, just pointing it out.

Funny how you've just responded like that, when on 3 different coverages it was proven it wasn't a penalty. The referee panicked because it was United. Pressure, that's the only reason why it was given.

Put it this way, if that had been given against United, Fergie would have whined and whined all night long about it.

Do not talk sh*t. The penalty was given because the referee saw a player stick his arm into the air and saw the ball deflected away. It is entirely understandable to give a penalty in those circumstances.

By the way, I must point out that I am not arguing that a penalty should have been given.

That is conjecture on your part.

Same as Villa-Hull the other day but at least the ref had the balls to go up to another official to discuss and change his mind of the original decision (which was right in the end). Just because a hand in the air plus deflection it shouldn't just equal a pen.

And me...

Cant wait to get 3 points and knock Liverpool out of the cup!

You'll get one or neither, not both.

Perhaps the linesman did not see the incident clearly enough to overrule the referee.

I'm keen on seeing Torres add to his 3 goals in 2 games against the blue noses tally cool.gif.

Would defo of preferred a semi or final clash, would of been so much more exciting in the build up, Sky Sports would of milked it.

Loving some of the replies from the Everton forums..

Glad i didnt put that twenty quid on us winning the cup! Proper pissed off now!

That's a very tough draw, I'm disappointed . I at least wanted a home draw before we went out.

crap innit....just when we get our form and think maybe we could win the cup...we get that shower of **** in the draw...when will we get some luck!

We're out, that's twice in a week we'll get hammered by that lot.

McGoldrick clearly jumps up like every other player does, arm/elbow covering his face. The replays show it hitting the top of his shoulder! I didn’t watch the match but was the wall even in the penalty area? Either way it shouldn’t have been a penalty, the sending off was more of a yellow but the fact is United still had a good team out there so it was always going to be hard even if the referee had got key decisions correct. I’m glad we are out anyway, need to concentrate on staying in the league!

Tevez disappointed by contract reports

Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has revealed his disappointment over speculation suggesting he had rejected a new contract to stay at the club.

The Argentina striker, who was given a week off by Sir Alex Ferguson over the New Year, insists he wants to stay at Old Trafford and he could not explain where the media reports were coming from.

"We have not started talks with Manchester United yet, though I am keen to stay," said Tevez who was keen to stress that he will sit down and discuss a new deal with United at the 'appropriate time'.

He added: "Sir Alex Ferguson has told me he wants me to remain a United player and that is certainly my desire too.

"My contract ends in the summer and we have agreed to sit down at the appropriate time and discuss a new contract. Nothing I have heard from the club suggests it will be otherwise.

Tevez's economic rights are owned by an investment fund headed by Kia Joorabchian.

He added: "Manchester United have indicated they would like to sign Carlos for the long term, but we have not started negotiations yet.

"Carlos has always said his intent is to stay at United and nothing has changed.

"The supporters have been amazing to him and he loves the club."

Apparently I've got this wrong. Still, it is good to know he has no rejected a contract.

I don't think Tevez will stay at United, considering that United have Rooney, Berbatov, Wellbeck and even Manucho. They don't really need him, not to mention he is no where worth 32 million pounds, could buy Benzema with that money

Apparently I've got this wrong.

The first step is to admit it...

City should seal the move of Scott Parker in the next day or so. Also Defoe seems to have secured his move back to spurs for 15M...what a circus!

Moyes has said the hunt is on for a striker this transfer window. Maybe we can get Torres on loan as a super sub to help out.

This Liverpool game has Newcastle all over, dominating the game and having so many chances and they're not getting put away, it better not come back and bite us in the arse.

For a large segment of the game, the shoe was very much on the other foot. I'm sure Preston supporters felt the way you did in the latter stages of the game. Having said that, Liverpool did deserve the victory. Their dominance in the first half, and grit and determination in the second half saw them through. But how frustrating was Robbie Keane!? Granted, he's one of the best player in the business at creating the space and opening up the gaps for himself and his teammates to exploit, but he couldn't finish! Multiple times he created his own chances for his off the ball play, it's a shame he couldn't do the easy part!

See that f*cking Preston player holding Carragher down, cheating bastard.

I'd be questioning Carraghers actions prior to that. Before the incident, Carragher clearly pulled Parkin down, which is why they were both on the deck in the first place. Arguable whether or not it should have been a penalty.

Anyway, Arsenal, Portsmouth, take note, that's how you easily dispatch the richest club on Earth! I'm well elated, but City's defending was absolutely abysmal. Still, I'm not complaining, it's time to get rid of the sheep-shaggers now.

Quite pleased with our win last name; it's great to see our young players getting in on the scoring action. Our next round will be against Tottenham Hotspur at home which should be a cracker of a game which I'm looking forward to. By the way, how many teams are left in the competition now?

As for us selling Tevez, I would prefer not to as I, in opinion, think that he is better than Berbatov and can do more while playing. As long as he stays fit, he'll play well. icon14.gif

When the Fourth round draw was made, there were 46 teams left in the competition. Take Southampton away and you're left with 45, with Blyth Spartans and Blackburn to play later on tonight.

So, how may teams in total will there be in the 4th round?

Mathematically there should be 32.

Whoa, what?

Tevez is good, very good, but Berbatov is a freak!

Oh and I heard Neill might be headed back to Blackburn haha.
