So, Ronaldo has signed with Corinthians in Brazil. He'll stay for a year (he says it'll be 6 months) so he can play to get in shape and in form again and hope for a transfer to europe. He's also aiming at making the starting 11 in the 2010 world cup. Good luck to him.

I read in the paper today at work that Flamengo fans want a vodoo doll or something for Ronaldo so they can break his leg or something. Seems funny and stupid at the same time to me.

Ronaldo is a proper disloyal bastard, not only has he betrayed Flamengo, he's also played for Real Madrid and Barcelona, and AC Milan and Inter. Fantastic player in his day but he has zero respect for the fans.

The Barcelona and Real Madrid wasn't quite disloyal, as there was a big time interval for that and another country in between. Or you might as well call Denis Law a disloyal bastard for doing the same

 

Neither was playing for both Inter and Milan disloyalty, as again, there was a big time interval and another country.

 

 

Law did it once rather than 3 times though, and although I wasn't around at the time, if I had been I think I would have seriously questioned his loyalty. The fact he went to another country in between is a mitigating factor but the fact he has done it an incredible number of times makes me think he disloyal.

 

 

The real display of disloyalty came when he got injured for the second time in 2000. He spent 2 years without playing, only resting/recovering, with Inter playing his wage in full. And what does he do when he comes back? He signs for Real Madrid. That was disloyal, as Internazionale fulfilled it's obligations hoping for him to come back and play for them, but he didn't. He could have done what Fernando Redondo did, or maybe even stayed at Internazionale, but chose to betray them.

 

I see that differently. He had a contract with Inter and Inter accepted a bid from Real Madrid for him and got a good transfer fee in return. I don't know the details, if he forced the move or anything, but the club had the option to keep him and chose to get rid.

 

 

 

The way I see it, in the Flamengo/Corinthians situation, it wasn't only Ronaldo's fault. See, he stayed for 4 months at Flamengo, recovering and training, yet the board never even cared to actually talk to him about contracts or anything, they believe he'd sign and that was that. So when Corinthians came with a true offer, a real planning for the year, he chose to sign. He should have told the Flamengo board first about the offer, but he didn't. So both were wrong

 

Hodgey, lots of Flamengo supporters had done a whole movement for him to stay at Flamengo, had made shirts, banners, customized cars and whatnots, everything to help persuade him to stay. Upon him leaving, they burned the shirts, banners and whatnots

Again, I don't know the details of the Flamengo thing but the amount of betrayals this guy does is huge.

Fulham are cheating bastards, their number 4 (teh Wikis tell me it's John Paintsil) was standing in front of Fuller as he went to get the ball for a throw in, this Paintsil git stood in front of him then just threw himself on the floor holding his face and the ref f*cking believed him, Fuller never so much as touched him. It was unbeleivable, even the Fulham fans must've seen him do it. The ref was abysmal too, spent most of the match not looking at anything, kept giving free kicks to Fulham but gave f*ck all to Stoke.

Haha. Bigger fool them! His contract is out in the summer and he looks to be on his way out. Why not wait a while and get him for free? Still, a bit of cash would be nice, but I'd love to keep him.

 

I've been a bit annoyed with him recentyl, but since he's returned to fitness he has shown how good of a player he is. He's one of those people who keeps quiet all match and the defenders loosen up on him, then he gets a goal or two. I think, back when Keegan was in charge, we offered him a contract which he didn't sign. It was for £80k if various news sources are to be believed. He's on £120k at the moment. He's a class act, but I dunno if he's worth that. To be honest, no footballer is. They should all be paid far less.

 

Anyways, on to the match: 3-0!

 

Great game all around for us. Defence was solid throughout. Given was fantastic as always. Midfield was also strong, with Guthrie and Gutierrez excelling. Owen and Martins did well up front. Owen was a bit quiet before and after his goal, but Martins played brilliantly throughout. N'Zogbia was a bit of a no-show apart from a few good runs in the last ten minutes.

Bloody hell, i'm quite relieved. After Arsenal drawing i thought Liverpool could pull away but then we end up drawing, i thought United and Chelsea would of capitalised but even they end up slipping up.

 

The amount of times Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Arsenal have had to pull away/catch up is crazy. I don't think anyone wants to win the league.

Another good weekend for United, a good point away at Spurs while Chelsea, and particularly Liverpool drop points they should easily be claiming. Majority of our difficult games are out of the way now, Liverpool and Chelsea have very tough looking fixture lists compared to ours. For now though, we have more important things to worry about, World Club Cup Semis on Thursday.

I just got back from the Match. Great game, our support was incredible, Chelsea didn't sing a song all match.

 

Chelsea looked good but we defended so well and as biased as this will sound, I thought we looked like the side that would go on and win.
