What a last five minutes in the Everton-Villa game. Lescott scored in the 93rd minute to make it 2-2, then Ashley Young made it 3-2 a minute later. Fantastic end to the game.

Woah, what an end to the Everton-Villa match. I only caught the last ten minutes, but that alone was great.

 

I think salary caps should be introduced gradually, as well as limits to how much one player can earn. Debts, and not just those of the top English clubs, also need attending to.

So guys, São Paulo Futebol Clube became today the first brazilian team to win 6 league titles, and the first to win 3 of them in a row. The brazilian league started in 1971 (before that a more disorganized league was played, thus "brazilian championships" from that day aren't counted nowadays.), São Paulo is now the only one with 6 titles. In 2007 it won it's 5th, unofficially tying with Flamengo for most titles (since there was some unclear circumstancies as to who was champion in 1987). Other than that, Palmeiras, Corinthians and Vasco all have 4 titles, Internacional has 3, Grêmio and Santos have 2. So hurrary São Paulo!

Hopefully next year we can win the Libertadores and beat one of you europeans at the World Club Championship, since we've been there 3 times, and won all 3 (HI LIVERPOOL!).

 

In any case, what a game today Everton vs Aston Villa. Villa went off to a flying start with a nice flowing move. And at the end, when Everton scored I thought "oh well, that's deserved." THEN BAM! Villa scores another one. Very entertaining!

For all the hype the World Club Championship had and FIFA making us fly to Japan to play two games it was pretty sh*t. Sau Paulo and Deportivo Saprissa were piss poor, both team honestly played worse than the English Championship sides, not sure how Sydney played but i'm guessing sh*t aswell.

We just love playing Everton.

 

Last season we scored a minute after they did aswell, accept this time it was in the very last minute of stoppage-time.

 

Ashley was top-class last night, you could tell he was up for it and he got stuck in. Both teams gave a great example of how the game should be played in England and I think, watching MoTD that Everton were very unlucky not to come away with a point.

Game of the weekend for me was the 4-0 trouncing FC Barcelona gave Valencia. Thierry Henry bagged a hat-trick and showed he still has a lot to offer the top level of football. Valencia are not a bad side (in fact 3rd in the league) but they were made to look like part-timers. I am not especially a Barca fan but I haven't enjoyed watching a game of footie so much in a long time.

No chance, the Madrid-Sevilla thriller was my game of the week. Sevilla's winner was fantastic... I'd love to see them win the league sometime soon, but it's just not going to happen this year, Barca are far too dominant. El Clasico is certainly going to be interesting next week, though - while I can see Barca handing Madrid an absolute smacking, I can also see Madrid pulling it off in order to rekindle the dying embers of their dismal season.

Bernd Schuster is gone from Madrid, been replaced immediately with Juande Ramos until the end of the season. He's going to have to win El Classico to have any chance of winning La Liga this season. Interesting to note that Real Madrid's last 3 managers to win the League have been sacked the same year.

It seems strange to me to sack a manager who had been very good in the past, but had a very below par start to the season (Shuster) and replace him with a manager who has been very good in the past, but had an absolutely atrocious start to the season and made one of the best teams in the Premiership the worst team in the Premiership by some margin. The appointment of Ramos is a good one in itself but the reasoning behind sacking Schuster is flawed to say the least.

Finished 3 - 1 top of the group, few ypungtsers got a run out, Ngog with his first ahh its a great day to be a 'pool fan. Only thing that spoiled it was Chelsea getting through just for a split moment i thought they might be gone but oh well.

 

Plus Reira goal was awesome i almost missed it as i switched to see what the other scores were on Sky but thankfully just turned it back in time.

Ronaldo is a proper disloyal bastard, not only has he betrayed Flamengo, he's also played for Real Madrid and Barcelona, and AC Milan and Inter. Fantastic player in his day but he has zero respect for the fans.

I've seen days when we've been having pints with opposing fans and generally having a laugh, say, at Fulham, but then I've been away when there's been fights all the way from the station to the ground. The Barcelona and Real Madrid wasn't quite disloyal, as there was a big time interval for that and another country in between. Or you might as well call Denis Law a disloyal bastard for doing the same

Neither was playing for both Inter and Milan disloyalty, as again, there was a big time interval and another country. The real display of disloyalty came when he got injured for the second time in 2000. He spent 2 years without playing, only resting/recovering, with Inter playing his wage in full. And what does he do when he comes back? He signs for Real Madrid. That was disloyal, as Internazionale fulfilled it's obligations hoping for him to come back and play for them, but he didn't. He could have done what Fernando Redondo did, or maybe even stayed at Internazionale, but chose to betray them.

The way I see it, in the Flamengo/Corinthians situation, it wasn't only Ronaldo's fault. See, he stayed for 4 months at Flamengo, recovering and training, yet the board never even cared to actually talk to him about contracts or anything, they believe he'd sign and that was that. So when Corinthians came with a true offer, a real planning for the year, he chose to sign. He should have told the Flamengo board first about the offer, but he didn't. So both were wrong

 

Hodgey, lots of Flamengo supporters had done a whole movement for him to stay at Flamengo, had made shirts, banners, customized cars and whatnots, everything to help persuade him to stay. Upon him leaving, they burned the shirts, banners and whatnots
