Remember good defending can be as entertain as good attacking, okay maybe not at good but still i have seen 0-0 where they have been better than 1-0's or 1-1's .

Hmm, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...uary-sales.html.

My guess is a lot of sales. This will be Scolaris turn with the money, see what he comes up with. My guess will be, Drogba, Malouda, Kalou, Carvalho?, Ballack?, Ivanovic out. Who knows who we could bring in. The quotes aren't in any real context so I doubt their credibility. The above is more of a wish list!

Yeah there going to be a mass exodus at Chelsea next summer. Abramovic has said that Chelsea must sell players before buying though, so i expect a couple to go in January.

Selling Carvalho though?, i think he's been great, better than Terry ph34r.gif.

I don't want him to go, However I feel he will. I agree at times he carries Terry, especially against teams with a bit of pace. I reckon Carvalho will be off with Didier to Milan. Kenyons been categorically saying we won't sign anyone in January, by his logic that must meen we will buy a whole new squad!

Wow my logic about us when Chelsea lose kinda came right again. I just hope that these chances that we are missing to gain points on Chelsea dont come back to haunt us.

@Seddo, no doubt that Carvalho has been great for Chelsea and a hell of a defender but i dont see him being better than Terry. But perhaps neither would of been as good without each other.

Another good weekend for United, 3 points at a difficult away ground, while out title rivals drop 3 points.

Interesting formula I saw posted by an Arsenal fan on RedCafe for winning the title, not perfect, a lot of you will laugh at it but it's an accurate way of looking at things without having your view distorted by the fixture list.

Win all home games

Lose at other top 4 sides

Draw at sides from 5th-12th

Win at sides from 13th-20th.

Gives you 89 points

Obviously you can only work it out from what happened last season, and I thought it was a bit spastic at first, but I'm finding it useful to judge how well the Top 4 are doing.

Ballack, Carvalho and Drogba are some of your best players though, while I can see why you'd want Drogba out, he is as big a c*nt as Ronaldo after his comments in his DVD "The Incredible Destiny of Didier Drogba" last year (Yes that's the real title), I can't understand why you'd want the other two gone, particularly Carvalho. For me he is your most important defender.

EDIT: Hadn't seen your latest comments, you did say it was a wish list though?

Sorry, that came across wrong. I mean it's a wishlist to get rid of Kalou and Malouda, utterly useless. Carvalho I can see going to Milan with Didier, Ballack is yet to get a new contract, expires in the Summer! I'd love to keep them but I can just see us going through a 'revolution' to instill players who are suitable to Scolaris football. Sometimes it's neccesary to get rid of good players for the overall benefit of the team.

I'm hoping Owen is sold in January. I highly doubt it though. Clubs will just wait until his contract runs and get him for free.

Another disappointing buy. We paid over the odds for him at £16m and he'll most likely be going for nothing.

Oh, and not wanting to get back to the whole C. Ronaldo fiasco. This is the best intentional handball ever...

It was the same game where Dyer and Bowyer had a fight and both got sent off. It was at home vs. Villa and we lost 3-0. One of the strangest football matches I've ever seen.

The funniest thing is that he did the exact same thing a few months later, and it failed then as well.

f*cking great finish from Scholesy though. tounge.gif

Can't believe Liverpool have failed to capitalise on Chelsea dropping points again. That's three times already this season. This is gonna come back to bite us on the arse, no question. If we can't bring out that killer instinct, we've got no chance.

The problem is that you have no real 'winenr' in your squad. Who as experience of winning titles? I know Rafa does but who on the pitch?

To be fair he still has a point Man united and Chelsea have enough players to make a whole team of 'Winners' while Liverpool have 4 'Winners'.

I don't think it's got anything to do with having title winners in the team, if you're going to win it you've just got to beat the so called lesser teams and you don't need any title winners to do that. We have got a team of leaders though.

If you look at the amount of corners we've had, we've done nothing with them. Then the serious amount of shots we've had and again can't put them away. Without Torres in the pitch we have no clinical finishers, which in recent matches has shown. I'm sure we'll kick back in gear soon enough.

Aslong as we can keep up there whether it's a point in front, behind or level, then we have a chance.

@Seddo: I think liverpool need to 'grind' out results if they want to win the league although there best striker (Torres) is injured so they could say thats a reason. You need a new striker asap Keane is rubbish while Kuyt is in and out of from at times.

Having experienced title winners helps. Look at Arsenal last year when they were top but had little experience in the team. 5 points clear of us at one point then they got smashed by us in the cup, and their season promptly collapsed in amazing fashion. When Chelsea took the title first they had 8 League winners in their squad, when we ended our drought we had Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Solskjaer, Evra, Park, O'Shea, Brown, all title winners, I'm sure this helped when it looked as though Chelsea would catch us.

Just look at the form weve been in aswell. Yes there is a dip in our performance but everybody goes through that at some point of the season. Plus we have a side with players that are capable of pulling us throught this and pushing for the title.

Arsenal's amazing group of godly Children who are the future of World Football are currently 2-0 down at Burnley. Be very disappointed if we don't go on to win this trophy now.

United should definitely win the league cup this year.

I'd agree with kietotheworld, having title winners in your team will be a serious morale booster and will definitely help when the pressure gets tough. The sorts of players who can keep a level head when it gets towards the end of the season and the title is theirs to be lost.

There's a full video of that somewhere, with him taking the throw in but it doesn't get blocked, it is unbelievable how f*cking far it goes.

And that daft sod stands in the way for the second throw mercie_blink.gif.

But the length of the throw is epic, that should be legal in the Premiership if both feet are touching the ground when the ball is thrown...?, that would be quality in professional football.

Don't quote me on this but I think it is legal, the problem is that you lose any semblance of accuracy with it. If someone could do it accurately and had anything like competent footballing ability they'd be signed very quickly by someone like Bolton.

Yeah, spot on mate. There's no way it's written down that you can't do that, but he's got f*ck all chance of seeing where it's going.

Re: Liverpool's fading title hopes, yeah, we're second only on goal difference, but we've had several good chances to go clear and haven't taken them. Whoever said we need more strikers is right; Keane would have been a great buy two or three seasons ago, but he's misfiring hugely. I don't think Kuyt was ever meant to be a target man/20 goal a season kind of player for us, so without Torres we look toothless up front. There was a tabloid rumour this weekend that Owen might be on his way back for pennies, either in January or the summer... Not sure I want him really, given that he seems to be the new Darren Anderton.

You're actually top by a point.

Whoever said we need more strikers is right; Keane would have been a great buy two or three seasons ago, but he's misfiring hugely.
Keane has had his 2 best seasons alongside a creative striker, I can't understand why Benitez spent so much money on him when he already had Gerrard and Torres as a sound combination upfront. Would have been better off either spending the money in other areas, or buying someone who could form a better partnership with Torres than Keane, someone like Berbatov or Robinho. Yes it would have been at greater cost but I don't see what Keane offers.
I don't think Kuyt was ever meant to be a target man/20 goal a season kind of player for us, so without Torres we look toothless up front.
To be fair you don't need to score a lot of goals to be a good target man, Drogba was probably the best in the world in the role in 2007 and didn't have that great a goals record. All you need is a decent physical presence and the ability to hold the ball up. You can't have someone good enough to seamlessly step in if a world class player like Torres is injured sat on the bench (Unless you have his on a dodgy loan deal from a corrupt Iranian, but I digress)
There was a tabloid rumour this weekend that Owen might be on his way back for pennies, either in January or the summer... Not sure I want him really, given that he seems to be the new Darren Anderton.

Would be a decent man to have coming off the bench or as back up to be fair. Anyone stupid enough to offer him a contract anywhere near six figures a week deserves everything they get though (that is, bankruptcy), should definitely be on a pay-as-you-play contract.

Haha, yeah, fair enough about Owen. Didn't actually realise we were top by a point... blush.gif Oh well. I still feel we should be further ahead than that.

I'd much rather see two strikers in a team; I'm a bit old-fashioned like that. I don't think we'd play Gerrard up front as a striker as we'd obvioudly lose a lot of his midfield influence, so I'd pick Torres and Kuyt as first choice, but I'd much rather see another quality finisher instead of Kuyt.

What you said about Drogba is true, but last season he at least had someone to hold the ball up for. As it is, with Torres out, Kuyt can do a blinding job of holding the ball up, but we're crazy short of people to follow up and finish well. We've already spent too long relying on Stevie G, and I really want to see more players in a Liverpool shirt with the ability to come through and net a few goals. Without Torres starting, it's very often tough to predict where our goals are gonna come from.
