Obviously as a Liverpool fan i want us to win as much as we can but the Premiership has to come before the CL this year, and i truely do think we have the players to do it especially if Villa comes.

The reason we was so far behind last year was because the middle of the season we let ourselves down there and thats our problem. We just cant seem to go a whole year on a good run. Its either we dont start to well or its the middle, we just need more consistency.

Plus we need to win the games we should. Last year we drew with Middelsborough, Wigan lost to West Ham etc. and if you want to win the PL you cant afford to do that one bit.

Hye Seddo, my longlost best friend (well, not exactly long lost, but we haven't been in touch) is an avid Liverpool (and Celtic) supporter, and the other day his dad got him the official replica top of Fernando Torres, complete with name and number. (I didn't realise he's number 9). And since my United top (from '03-'04) recently got Ronaldo on the back, we decided to take each other on in the park, one-on-one, to see who was better; Liverpool/Fernando Torres or Manchester United/Cristian Ronaldo. It turns out that Liverpool won 9-2.

I thought he had two years left on his contract but i may be wrong. I honestly think Gareth Barry is a decent player but would i want us to spend £17mil on him, no way. Hes worth £10 - 12 mil max.

Id rather see Liverpool keeping Alonso so then we dont have to spend a stupid amount of money on a player that isnt worth the money.

Personally, I think the best thing for Liverpool would be to keep Alonso, stop thinking about Gareth Barry, and concentrate on getting Villa, because in my opinion I think he'll do more for Liverpool than Gareth Barry will. Benitez can then put both Torres and Villa up front. Then Benayoun can be positioned in the right-wing, Gerrard placed in the centre midfield role as a general along with Alonso beside him and Jermaine Pennat on the left wing.

 

By the way, has Scott Carson moved back to Liverpool, or has he stayed at Aston Villa?

I disagree there, i honestly wouldnt play with a out and out right winger. Pennant and Yossi are good but he have better midfeilders in Babel and Mascherano. They way i would play our midfeild is with Babel on the left (LAM) Gerrard in a RAM (just inside of were the RW would play, so Gerrard could always come into the center supporting Torres) so he could float over to the right side for cover. With Alonso and Mascherano as holding midfeild players.

 

That would be the way i would play if we did use a four man midfeild.

Fair enough; even though Babel is a striker, I guess he could do well in setting up Torres and Villa should they end up being there with each other. I think Babel should be in the same position as Gerrard, except on the left.

 

I heard from Liam that (not Seddo, my longlost Torres-protege I mentioned above) that Tevez is on loan from West Ham. Is this true, and if it is, how long is he there for?

And like saintdave said, I think that Gudjohnsen would be a great asset to the club; he's a good playmaker, but just couldn't make it at Barcelona. He's scored some good goals last season, and made some brilliant plays to Eto'o. Also, Barcelona wouldn't be asking much for him.

Disagree all you want, but Babel is technically a striker - and always was - when he played at Ajax. He's just been shifted out to the left by Benitez.

You do know that he could just as easily stay with Barcelona if he wanted to. If AC fell through and didnt like anywere else there is a small possibility he could stay with Barca.

Ever heard of 'Agent Talk', it's all about getting the best deal for the player (or in agent speek, yourself), so he's just bartering to get the most money out of whatever club he goes to. But hell yeah I still want him, he may have piled on a few pounds but he'll be kicked into touch in no time with Hughes there to bitch-slap him.

 

And as saintdave has just said about Barca telling him to get lost and not to go the Olympics, he's just told Barca bleep-you I'm off anyway to China.

If he goes to AC-Milan where his agent says he wants to go, then he will be taking a pay drop compared to what City have desperately offered him, along with his time off to do his sponsorship work etc.
