Umm, are you serious?

But Ronaldo's free kick was indeed amazing.

Umm, are you serious?

He means Zlatan Ibrahimovic the swedish striker not Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, if your confused.

Well Tottenham are through to the quarters after a 3-2 win on the day and 6-4 on aggregate, if they struggled against Bruge cant seem them progressing any further, It's the first time Tottenham have got to the UEFA cup quarter final since Glen Hoddle played for them, which is before my time. lol.gif

Rangers are out after a 1-0 on the day defeat and a 2-1 aggregate defeat, Rangers never played well in the two legs. turn.gif so didn't really deserve to progress.

Arsenal beat Villa 1-0 today, but the game was strange in that it felt like the roles were reversed. Much as I hate to admit it, Villa deserved at least a point, possibly all 3. We did not look sharp for most of the game and got a lucky goal with Diaby's deflection. However, normally we are the team that deserves to win but gets unlucky... ah well, I guess it's finally evening itself out (a bit late though sad.gif )

And I cannot resist mentioning that Aliadiere was sh*te yet again, hitting an open, close-range header directly into the ground and over the bar. Why in the world did Arsene keep him but let Anthony Stokes leave??? At least Stokes has a (bright) future...

Liam, Boogie knew who he meant he was just shocked at the spelling of the player (of whom players for Inter) wink.gif

I see Arsenal are up to 3rd with a game in hand on Liverpool now. Finishing there still wouldnt make up for another poor season, I said to an Arsenal supporting friend recently that if Wenger didn’t win anything next season also (making it 3 in a row) surely his job would be on the line? My friend actually agreed which was surprising!

Berbatov's play was impressive in the 3-2 win over Braga. An amazing second goal for him, a volley smashed over the keeper. He also made the pass for the third goal. IMO he is the best signing in the Prem this season.

Yeah, he didn't play well in that match, his miss just sums it up. One of the worst misses of the season possibly? It comes close to that of Ronaldo (who skied it over the bar from 10yrds) and Fabregas' open net miss.

Umm, are you serious?

Oops! My bad.

Is Aliadiere French by any chance, that's why he kept him.

I cant beleive how we have thrown away a position that we were so close to nearly overtaking Chelski to being 10 points off and now dropped to fourth after a few bad results. turn.gif

Just seen the goal on Youtube thanks to the link from Andy wink.gif was a pretty sweet goal. wow.gif

I was not too disappointed to see Stokes go to Sunderland, this being due to the amount of other talent we have.

Ok I would much rather have Stokes than Aliadiere, but we have Walcott for a start (who makes a much better striker than winger to be honest) and there's also Carlos Vela...but the man I'm most looking forward to seeing lead the Arsenal line is Nicklas Bendtner. One of my good mates is a Brum fan who goes week-in-week-out to St. Andrews and the Bluenoses' absolutely love him. Hopefully they get promoted, Arsene gives him another year out on loan see how well he cuts it playing first team football in the Prem then have him back for 08-09.

Holy sh*t Ram is that you, been a long time mate.

Yeah I have heard good things about Vela but whether he gets a work permit for next season remains to be seen. I have seen much of Bendtner on the Championship program and he does look a very prospect but he is playing at a lower level so I’m not so sure he could transfer that kind of form to the Premiership.

Obviously we don't have a whole wealth of talent up front if Aliadiere has been starting tounge.gif . Now that we're losing Lupoli as well, I would have liked to see Stokes stay and have him and Bendtner be the strike force of the future (With Walcott on the wing, where I think he has been very good).

Seddo: Good point. Arsene likes his French guys, but I think Aliadiere is so bad that even Wenger would just give up and sell him.

dave: Even if Arsenal goes trophyless next year (Please, God, don't let them), I don't think Wenger will be in danger. He's done so much for the club, I think he will be given at least 3 or 4 more years to go without a trophy. After that... well, let's just hope it doesn't reach that point icon14.gif

Aye t'is me, thought I'd pop along and see what's new.

I'm loving this season of football, despite being a Gooner and having a nightmare of a season! My hometown club Hereford are doing reasonably well in League Two, 12th and 8 points off a play-off spot. If we can beat Darlington (to which I am going to), who are also play-off contenders, away on Saturday and hope Wycombe lose at home to Walsall, which is very possible, then hope is back on.

My 2 closest mates are Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday fans and so have been keeping a close eye on the Championship this year. It's easily been the best one for years and there's still a hell of a lot to play for still. Have been to 3 Wednesday games this season, at Hillsborough against Cardiff (0-0), away at Pride Park (lost 1-0) and away at dirty Leeds (won 3-2, great game)!

Unfortunately haven't been able to go to the Emirates this season but am working on getting a few from a colleague.

Cuse mate, I've put £100 on we'll win the Premiership next year. I guarantee it, you heard it here first.

Could of at least gave me the ton instead of the buckies.

Well looks like Newcastle got knocked out lost 2-0 on the day then 4-4 on aggregate in which they lost on the away goal rule. bored.gif

Lucky barsteward, I wish City were in a position that fans could bet a ton on us winning the title... not that we'd bet on City, cause that's just stupid.

PS Hello Ram, you stranger, talking of strangers, where's J.L these days.

Oh yeah there is no doubting what he has done for Arsenal and even the English game but a team of your stature and reputation should be winning trophies regardless how highly they are rated (League Cup for example). To go a third season in a row without winning anything would be a disaster for you.

Many chairmen these days have very little patience but three seasons to put things right is fair in my opinion. We shall see what happens.

Wenger will be at Arsenal for many, many years to come, regardless of trophies. They will come. He knows what he has to do to win the title - he's won three of them along with a 49 unbeaten streak. He's firmly secure as Arsenal's boss. Our problem is the team is still in transition. It's the striving for consistency and maturity in our team. Our young players can only do so much; taking into account we've had a few injuries to key players this season (when it mattered) - i.e. Henry, Van Persie, Gallas & Clichy. We've lacked the cutting edge and eye for goal which all seemed straight forward a few years ago... we've got the football sorted, that comes with cherrys on top 'n all sorts, but when it REALLY matters, no goals. Meh, could go on forever. It's not really happened this season...

Moreover..

Beating United home and away hasn't mattered in terms of the league whatsoever. Quite ironic considering that's the fixture we've almost banked on if we're looking to win the title.

Succumbing to the likes of Sheff Utd, and drawing at home to Boro, Villa, Everton and the like is getting us no where fast.

Some major work needs to be done in the final third to ensure we kill off games, and to ensure we don't lose to blummin Sheff Utd away... and get out-foxed by Blackburn. We're world beaters on our day, but we're getting found out far too often.

Well, we could say Spurs have a chance of progressing;

Sevilla v Tottenham

Bayer Leverkusen v Osasuna

AZ v Werder Bremen

Espanyol v Benfica

Semi Final Draw:

Espanyol or Benfica v AZ Alkmaar or Werder Bremen

Bayer Leverkusen or Osasuna v Sevilla or Spurs

They will have a hard time getting past the holders and even then they may need to play Leverkusen! They would do very well if they got to the final.

Anyway, apparently Sevilla scored a goal with their keeper in added time to get through against Shakhtar Donetsk. wow.gif

Yeah saw that, Andres Palop came up for an injury-time corner and headed in. Javier Chevanton got the winner in extra-time.

Seddo my friend, you'll be surprised you know...Purp summed it up absolutely perfectly. We are arguably the best team in league and we've proven that by doing the double over United, holding the champions to a 1-1 draw at Stamford, outplaying them for the majority, with a second-string side, of the Carling Cup final. The hammerings of Blackburn and Liverpool where we scored 6 goals in each shows our talents.

Like he says though, it's the results against the lower teams that have let us down. The youngsters go into the big games fired up and ready to show off their talents whereas games like Blades away they let their guard down, step down a gear or whatever and let those teams, who are always desperate for points to survive in the Prem, work their socks off for results.

If Arsenal had a better start to the season they could of been challenging Chelsea and Utd for the title of the Premiership. And they have had bad injuries at all the worst times, if they had their full team against PSV or Blackburn they would probably still be in those cups.

All they need to do is get a good start next season and they could win it. Just that the top two teams at the moment aren't dropping much points, and would need to mentain it throughout the season.

EDIT: Wohoo! 900 posts. cool.gif

A good 4-1 win for United yesterday, the speed of one of the goals was amazing, Ronaldo and Rooney sprinting up the pitch from their own box to score.

So, I travelled all the way up to Darlington yesterday to see Hereford lose 1-0. Now I don’t know if anyone has been to Darlington’s ground but…my god. Now Darlo aren’t exactly a big club, but they have an enormous and very impressive 25,000 all-seater stadium. Yesterday’s crowd? 3,165!

It looked absolutely ridiculous, but we joined by hammered Newcastle fans (who were friends of our Geordie midfielder Andy Ferrell) which made it a great day! f*ck me it’s cold up north though.

Here's a pic of me from a Hereford pic website at the game yesterday, I'm on the right wink.gif

Well, I guess there was a lot of empty seats then, lots of space to get good seats for the match. What division are Darlington in at the moment anyway?

Man Utd and Chelsea have secured their places in the Semi-Final of the cup, the final scores 1-0 and 2-1. Sad that Tottenham couldn't pull off the win to help us if we get to the final.

On the day, Chelsea beat us in a fairly equal match. Two moments of class gave them the win, and their defending was very effective.

But the antics they get up too really anger me, the time wasting, getting in the referees face, and then finally inciting fans to the point where a fan has run on to the pitch. (What a lack of professionalism from the Chelsea players considering the trouble which happened after the last game)

The guy who ran on was a fool no doubt, but the players who provoked the incident (Fatty Frank, Ashley Cole, and JT) should be punished aswell as the fan who has now been given a lifetime ban from the lane.

Frank was his usual self, being a wanker and performing over the top celebrations directly to the Spurs fans, JT was doing the same but not to the same extent. But the worst of all was Cole who was actually shouting "F*ck Off, F*ck Off" and actually leading some fans on by giving it the "come on then, bring it on" bullsh*t.

Also, I hope the FA dont overlook the kicks and stamps given to the fan by the Chelsea players, notably, Drogba and Cole.

Rant Over.

I found this when looking around the net: Romario 1000 goals claim.

Only one player has scored over 1000 goals, which was Pele, who scored 1,282 times before he retired. Romario is supposedly only two goals short of 1000, with his own count. Quite an interesting read. icon14.gif

Well there's hardly such things as bad seats in a stadium like that especially when gates are so low! Their stadium could hold about a third of the population of Darlington.

Darlo are in League Two, they're 8th and we're 14th. Drew 1-1 with them at Edgar Street.

Next game is away at Accrington Stanley dozingoff.gif a Conference North club at best. Funny how the Conference champs are doing much worse than us, who went up through the play-offs. Arrogant tossers.

That's absolutely disappointing for Spurs because Berbatov, Lennon and Defoe had the potential to land one in the second half. Wegner's poor managing costed Arsenal a defeat and low balance in the third place position last Sunday and they need to beat Liverpool next time

Yo Rammy, are you like a full blown Hereford fan now and not so much a gooner?

I guess its good to support your hometown club, Ive always followed mine, and now with even more interest since they got to the Conference. (St Albans) We are like one of the only teams in the division who are not professional. The other team which are local to me are Watford, but like St Albans in the conference they look like a bunch of part timers to the rest of the division. sigh.gif
